GETDATE in Snowflake in not working for conversion - snowflake-cloud-data-platform

In SQL we can do below
select convert(varchar, getdate(), 101)
Anything same in Snowflake for GETDATE ?
Thank You.

How about using CURRENT_DATE?
SELECT TO_VARCHAR(CURRENT_DATE, 'MM/DD/YYYY' ) ,
TO_VARCHAR(CURRENT_DATE, 'DD-MM-YYYY' );

Format date as 'DD Month YYYY'

Just have a mssql query that has a date in the format:
'2016-03-22 00:00:00.000'
I need to format it as:
'22 March 2016'
I'm using SQL Server 2012. I've tried googling and the usual 106, 112 codes don't seem to work.
Is there a specific code format I can use?
Try the FORMAT function:
SELECT FORMAT(GETDATE(), 'D', 'en-gb')
If your version does not support the FORMAT function, you can do it by concatenating the date parts:
SELECT
RIGHT('00' + CAST(DATEPART(DAY, GETDATE()) AS VARCHAR(2)), 2) + ' ' +
DATENAME(MONTH, GETDATE()) + ' ' +
CAST(DATEPART(YEAR, GETDATE()) AS VARCHAR(4))
Use Format Function in SQL Server 2012
SELECT FORMAT(GETDATE(),'dd-MMMM-yyyy')
See Image for your datatype ref
Try this query:
SELECT CONVERT(VARCHAR, CONVERT(DATETIME, '2016-03-22 00:00:00.000'), 106)
You need to convert into DATETIME then you will get your desired output

Convert Datetime format to varchar in SQL Server

I have this code in my view in SQL Server to convert datetime to varchar.
convert(datetime, Product_Info.created_date, 101)
but I get this error
Update cannot proceed due to validation errors.
Please correct the following errors and try again.
SQL70569 :: A column name is required.
What's wrong? Please advice.
Change CONVERT(DATETIME to CONVERT(VARCHAR(10)
For MM/DD/YYYY format (USA):
SELECT CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), GETDATE(), 101) AS [MM/DD/YYYY]
Gets you '02/12/2016'
For MMDDYYYY:
SELECT REPLACE(CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), GETDATE(), 101), '/', '') AS [MMDDYYYY]
Gets you '02122016'

How can I convert SQL Server date to custom formats

SELECT GETDATE() AS CurrentDateTime
2015-08-30 19:22:24.830
I need this output (in SQL Server)
2015-08-30 19
2015-08
SELECT
CONVERT(VARCHAR(13), GETDATE(), 120) as "YYYY-MM-DD hh 1"
, CONVERT(VARCHAR(7), GETDATE(), 120) as "YYYY-MM 1"
, FORMAT(getdate(),'yyyy-MM-dd hh') as "YYYY-MM-DD hh 2"
, FORMAT(getdate(),'yyyy-MM') as "YYYY-MM 2"
;
For any version of SQL Server you can use CONVERT(VARCHAR(),datecol,styleno)
just learn the relevant style numbers and adjust the length of the varchar
For SQL Server 2012 onward it's easier with the FORMAT() function
Try this
SELECT CONVERT(VARCHAR(13), GETDATE(), 120)
SELECT CONVERT(VARCHAR(7), GETDATE(), 120)

How to get Time from DateTime format in SQL?

I want to get only Time from DateTime column using SQL query
using SQL Server 2005 and 2008
Default output:
AttDate
==
2011-02-09 13:09:00
2011-02-09 14:10:00
I'd like this output:
AttDate Time
==
2011-02-09 13:09:00 13:09
2011-02-09 14:10:00 14:10
SQL Server 2008:
SELECT cast(AttDate as time) [time]
FROM yourtable
Earlier versions:
SELECT convert(char(5), AttDate, 108) [time]
FROM yourtable
Assuming Sql server
SELECT CONVERT(VARCHAR(8),GETDATE(),108)
SQL Server 2008+ has a "time" datatype
SELECT
..., CAST(MyDateTimeCol AS time)
FROM
...
For older versions, without varchar conversions
SELECT
..., DATEADD(dd, DATEDIFF(dd, MyDateTimeCol, 0), MyDateTimeCol)
FROM
...
The simplest way to get the time from datetime without millisecond stack is:
SELECT convert(time(0),getDate())
Try using this
Date to Time
select cast(getdate() as time(0))
Time to TinyTime
select cast(orig_time as time(0))
Try this, it will work:
CONVERT(VARCHAR(8),DATETIME,114)
For your reference.
Try this:
select convert(nvarchar,CAST(getdate()as time),100)
Get date of server
SELECT LTRIM(RIGHT(CONVERT(VARCHAR(20), GETDATE(), 100), 7)) FROM TABLENAME WHERE ...
or
If it is stored in the table
SELECT LTRIM(RIGHT(CONVERT(VARCHAR(20), datename, 100), 7)) FROM TABLENAME WHERE ...
Result:
11:41AM
select AttDate,convert(char(5), AttDate, 108) [Time] from yourTableName
To get the time from datetime, we can use
SELECT CONVERT(VARCHAR(20), GETDATE(), 114)
select cast (as time(0))
would be a good clause. For example:
(select cast(start_date as time(0))) AS 'START TIME'
I often use this script to get Time from DateTime:
SELECT CONVERT(VARCHAR(9),RIGHT(YOURCOLUMN_DATETIME,9),108) FROM YOURTABLE
If you want date something in this style: Oct 23 2013 10:30AM
Use this
SELECT CONVERT(NVARCHAR(30),getdate(), 100)
convert() method takes 3 parameters
datatype
Column/Value
Style: Available styles are from 100 to 114. You can choose within range from. Choose one by one to change the date format.
on MSSQL2012 or above
cast(dateadd(ms,datediff(ms, [StartDateTime], [StopDateTime]),0) as Time(0))
...or...
convert(time(0),dateadd(ms,datediff(ms, [StartDateTime], [StopDateTime]),0) )
SQL Server 2012:
Select TRY_CONVERT(TIME, myDateTimeColumn) from myTable;
Personally, I prefer TRY_CONVERT() to CONVERT(). The main difference: If cast fails, TRY_CONVERT() returns NULL while CONVERT() raises an error.
You can use this:
SELECT CONVERT(VARCHAR(5), GETDATE(),8)
Output:
08:24
Declare #date Datetime = '06/18/2021 14:24:31';
Select FORMAT(#date, 'h\:m tt', 'en-US') As Timey
Output:
2:24pm
select convert(char(5), tbl_CustomerBooking.CheckInTime, 108) AS [time]
from tbl_CustomerBooking
select substr(to_char(colUmn_name, 'DD/MM/RRRR HH:MM:SS'),11,19) from table_name;
Output: from
05:11:26
05:11:24
05:11:24

SQL Server Format Date DD.MM.YYYY HH:MM:SS

How can I get a date like 'dd.mm.yyyy HH:MM:SS'
I tried the following but it's not exactly what I'm looking for...
select convert(varchar(20),getdate(),113)
result: 14 Jul 2011 09:23:57
Thanks a lot
Largo
See http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms187928.aspx
You can concatenate it:
SELECT CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), GETDATE(), 104) + ' ' + CONVERT(VARCHAR(8), GETDATE(), 108)
A quick way to do it in sql server 2012 is as follows:
SELECT FORMAT(GETDATE() , 'dd/MM/yyyy HH:mm:ss')
