The old version of ClearCase Remote Client 7.1, the menu "Add resources to source control" was always active , it would scan through the library and add any uncatalogued elements to ClearCase. However when ClearCase Remote Client is upgraded to 8.0 it is only active when select a file that is yet to be added. It no longer searches the library but requires the user to manually locate files that need to be added. Is this a expected behaviour between CCRC 7.1 & 8.0?
CC Version 7 is out of scope for more than 3 years now. I have 8.0.1.3 and I don't see the "Add resource .." you are talking about but just "add to source control" which is active only when clicking on an private element that hasn't been added to CC at all.
I think you can change the menu from ClearCase homebase -> Options -> Context Menu Editor.
To see the changes from CC 7 to CC 8, try to search IBM CC page, like
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21972269
Or
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21322828
Or alike.
Enjoy,
Elyahu
P.S. The best solution would be moving to GIT :-)

I created one application (*.exe) it works fine in all systems but in one system it throws an error.
"class does not support automation or does support expected interface "
Using a simple Google search:
Either the class you specified in the GetObject or CreateObject function call has not exposed a programmability interface, or you changed a project from .dll to .exe, or vice versa.
To correct this error Check the documentation of the application that created the object for limitations on the use of automation with this class of object.
If you changed a project from .dll to .exe or vice versa, you must manually unregister the old .dll or .exe.
It will Occurs when launching an installation of FRx that resides in a different directory than the one that was specified when FRx was installed on the current workstation. For example, launching an FRx install that resides on the server, instead of the one that was installed locally. Register the FRXLICSYS.DLL and FRXSYSTEM.DLL files in the directory from which FRx is being launched. If the problem persists, uninstall and reinstall FRx Version 6.0
Note If you are running Microsoft FRx version 6.7, register the FRXLICSYS67.DLL file, instead of the FRXLICSYS.DLL file.
follow below steps to resolve your concern:
Manually register the required files.
Using Explorer, locate FRXLICSYS.DLLin the directory from which FRx is being run.
Note If you are running Microsoft FRx version 6.7, locate the FRXLICSYS67.DLL file, instead of the FRXLICSYS.DLL file.
Choose Open With from the menu.
Click the Other button at the bottom of the Open With window.
Browse to the local drive (most often C:), and select either REGSVR32.EXE in \WINNT\SYSTEM32 or REGSVR.EXE in \WINDOWS\SYSTEM.
Click Open.
Click OK. A message will display indicating whether the file was successfully registered.
Repeat steps 1 through6 for FRXSYSTEM.DLL.
I am unable to open graphical view of an element in ClearCase.
While doing: clearcase lsvtree -g
I get:
xclearcase : warning: could not load font 'GB2312.1980-0'
Check first (if xclearcase means an old ClearCase 7.x on Linux or Solaris) if this is LANG issue: see this technote.
It was determined that the LANG variable was unset on UNIX® or Linux® and caused the core to occur when the remote display attempted to process xclearcase data.
This could also be caused by an incorrect LANG variable setting.
This may also occur on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6 when the X11 display is local to the RHEL6 system.
If the LANG environment is set, this issue can be resolved on RHEL5 by changing the LANG environment variable setting from the default en_US.UTF-8 to en_US.
Workarounds:
Option 1:
You may be able to resolve the issue by creating the following link on the server:
/usr/lib/X11/nls/XhpV3/C -> /usr/lib/X11/nls/XhpV3/iso88591
Option 2:
You can try to change your Exceed setting from "PseudoColor" to "Auto Select" in order to connect.
Option 3:
Under BlueZoneX server software, the fix was to tell it to use the Microsoft fonts as well as the ones from BlueZone.
Since my comment gets folded in, I'll enter it as an "answer."
ClearCase explicitly does not support X sessions where the X server is a Windows host. This isn't to say it doesn't mostly work, but when it breaks down, the answer is usually "You're on your own."
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=219&context=SSCBN78&q1=linux&uid=swg21128395&loc=en_US&cs=utf-8&lang=en
A local CTE, or a VNC session are better options for accessing the Unix-based resources from windows without installing the full CC client.
Eclipse over X-forwarding may be acutely painful, depending on the location of the CC host and the X server. I tried it over a VPN once, JUST once. VNC was MUCH better.
Does anyone know how to completely remove MarkLogic 7 on MacOSX?
I've read their documentation which says:
To entirely remove MarkLogic, remove the following directories:
~/Library/MarkLogic
~/Library/Application Support/MarkLogic
~/Library/StartupItems/MarkLogic
~/Library/PreferencePanes/MarkLogic.prefPane
But I don't have those folders. I have no idea where it's been installed!
Then it says:
To make Mac OS X completely forget it ever had a MarkLogic installation, run the following command from a terminal window:
sudo pkgutil --forget com.marklogic.server
But that didn't seem to do anything. I still have it in my System Preferences.
My guess is that when you say you don't have those folders, you mean that you don't see ~/Library when you open Finder (please comment if that's not the case). You can make the Library directory appear by:
Open Finder
Click on your home directory
Click the Settings icon (gear)
Click Show View Options
Check the Show Library Folder option
Now you should be able to see the Library folder and you'll be able to remove those directories.
Note: I don't know your background, so forgive me if this is too basic, but the ~/Library directory contains a bunch of stuff that OS X uses to make your system run. It's hidden because making mistakes in there can cause problems that are tricky to fix. If the contents of ~/Library are not familiar to you, you might want to un-check that option when you're done.
Dave is probably right. But just in case, you can use that prefpane to stop MarkLogic, then use the Error Log button to open the log. Start MarkLogic and the first new line in the log will tell you where it is:
Notice: Starting MarkLogic Server 7.0-3 x86_64 in /Users/${USER}/Library/MarkLogic
with data in /Users/${USER}/Library/Application Support/MarkLogic/Data
Also, don't delete ~/Library/PreferencePanes/MarkLogic.prefPane, but remove the preference pane by right-clicking on it in System Preferences. It will then be deleted, but you can't remove its icon from System Preferences if you have deleted the preference pane.
Is there a way to open the folder location of a file from within CCRC? While I know I can open/copy from directly within CCRC, it is often useful to work directly with the file from within Windows Explorer.
I am looking for something like "open file location" or "open in windows explorer". The folder within CCRC does not appear to allow opening it directly as the double-mouse-click action just expands the tree listing. The path is listed/copyable within the "ClearCase Details" tab, but I am trying to take my laziness to a whole new level by being able to open the folder with a single click.
Any ideas if this is a feature available and where I can find it? Thanks.
Info:
Rational ClearCase Remote Client 7.1.1
Windows 7
You can try a drag an drop from the CCRC to a windows explorer, but this might not work.
(The reverse works, from CCRC 7.0.1)
If it doesn't work, then this feature isn't available in CCRC 7.x, and should be tested in a CCRC 8.x, where the integration with the OS explorer is tighter (I don't have a CCRC 8.x right now to test it out).
I have created an 'External Build Project' in Xcode 4 using a makefile. The project builds perfectly, except the only way I know how to get it to run is in Terminal.
Is there a way I can run the program in Xcode 4 or is Terminal it ?
Yes, you can!
Product -> Edit scheme
Select "Run" from the left panel, select "Info" from top and specify "Executable" drop list
Select next pane "Arguments" and add "Arguments Passed On Launch" (to "Executable" you select before)
Yes, you need to create a Custom Executable, so that Xcode knows where your built executable resides and how to run it. In Xcode 3 it's Project -> New Custom Executable....
This will allow you to to run your executable and even do source level debugging if you have added the source code to the project. The only minor hassle is that you have to manually select which custom executable is "active" when you switch between e.g. debug and release builds.
Note re Xcode 4: I don't use Xcode 4 but looking at the online help the nearest equivalent to Xcode 3's "custom executable" seems to be:
Customize Executables in the Scheme Editor
To customize the environment in which a product is launched in Xcode 3, you click the executable in the Groups & Files list and then open the Info window. In Xcode 4, choose Edit Active Scheme from the Scheme pop-up and choose the product you want to run (Figure 3-10). Note that you can choose to display the running product at a higher UI resolution to simulate running at a different display resolution.
