I have an AngularJS / Strongloop project. The AngularJS part of the code is not hosted at the same location as the Strongloop project and as a result I'm running into a CORS issue. I have done a lot of reading on this issue, however I can't figure out how to solve it.
As far as I can tell, my issue is on the server side. See picture below.
I can't figure out how to configured Strongloop to be set to...
"Access-Control-Allow-Origin": "*"
Should I be trying to solve this a different way using Strongloop's built into ACL? Can someone point me to where I can correct the header for the API in Strongloop?
Below are some relevant article to the issue as I understand it.
http://blogs.telerik.com/kendoui/posts/11-10-03/using_cors_with_all_modern_browsers
how to handling CORS over $http in Angularjs1.3
So as frustrating as this was, I got it figured out. Turns out a detail I left out in my original post was that this application was built using two separate instances of Cloud 9 (http:c9.io), one for the client side and one for the server. I did this because it modeled the way the application was going to be installed in it's production environment. The issue was something to do with Cloud 9, when I ported this application to two different servers (that are un-related to Cloud 9), the issue was immediately resolve with no code changes at all to Strongloop or AngularJS.
That is really too bad, because up until this point I had been loving using Cloud 9. Guess I'll try codebox.
Below is a screen shot of the response header when ported to a non-Clould 9 instance. As you can see there is no longer the restriction on the Access-Control-Allow-Origin which was causing the problem

I run Google Ads on my Google-App-Engine-hosted website (www.bigriddles.com), and they tell me I need to have an "ads.txt" file served from the root domain (i.e. http://bigriddles.com/ads.txt, as opposed to http://www.bigriddles.com/ads.txt).
My DNS is hosted on Gandi, and I created their "ALIAS" record (which I think just does CNAME flattening or something similar) to alias "bigriddles.com" to "ghs.googlehosted.com." I chose "ghs.googlehosted.com" because that's what I CNAMEd "www.bigriddles.com" to (many years back), and that CNAME has been working fine.
However, now when I visit "bigriddles.com", I get an "HTTP 301 Moved" to "www.bigriddles.com", and as far as I can tell, this response isn't coming from any code I wrote (I've looked through my code and don't see anything that would redirect this). Furthermore, there is a "Server: ghs" header in the response from "bigriddles.com", whereas if I visit "www.bigriddles.com", which works fine, the response includes the header "Server: Google Frontend". I'm not sure if there is some hint of my problem in the difference between those two Server headers.
Anyway, I'm not sure exactly what's going wrong. It could be a DNS issue. I say this because "dig www.bigriddles.com" comes back with the IP 172.217.14.115, whereas "dig bigriddles.com" comes back with "172.217.168.211", so maybe one of these really is a "ghs" server and the other is a "Google Frontend" server (I'm not sure the difference) and this "ALIAS" DNS solution just isn't going to work.
More likely though I feel like maybe there is just some settings problem with my App itself where it's not set up to allow the apex domain "bigriddles.com", and if I change that setting it will start working?
I have gone through the steps on https://cloud.google.com/appengine/docs/standard/python/mapping-custom-domains. When I view the "Custom Domains" for my project, I see "www.bigriddles.com" and "m.bigriddles.com", but I don't see the naked domain "bigriddles.com". However, when I try to add it on that page, it tells me that "bigriddles.com" is already mapped to a project, so I'm not sure what to make of that.
Any help would be appreciated, thank you!
This seems like an issue with your domain provider.
You can use this tool that might help you contact the domain provider with detailed info.
If they insist it's not an issue on their side (I strongly believe it is), then you should contact Google Cloud Platform Support so a deeper inspection can be made on your project.
If you're also using G Suites for your domain, the criminal is G Suites' Domain -> Redirect. If it is, it's a pity that Google does not let us turn off the so-called feature.
Since G Suites use as the same entry point as App Engine, you have no chance to solve this other than moving your site outside Google services or stop using G Suite.
I have been recently stuck into a strange issue, thrown by a Multi platform Hybrid App in Visual Studio App.. My Development Environment details are as follows :
Visual Studio 2013 Release 3
Cordova 4.0
Angularjs 1.4
Ionic 1.4
Nokia Lumia 1320 [Windows 8.1 OS]
I have a web app that will be interacting with the mobile app, deployed on a server machine that can be accessed both by an internal enterprise network, as well as from internet.
Now the problem is, when i am [the mobile device is] connected to the internal network, the $http call fails with a status code of 0. Internal dig down reveals that the actual returned status code is -1.
However, when i switch over to mobile data in the phone, the ajax call goes smooth and finishes successfully. Now, if i switch back to internal network, it again starts working perfectly. !!!!
The http call is quite simple and uses promise API... I also have some request interceptors.
Any explanations for this strange behavior, or more appropriately a solution for the same ??
After Scratching my head for over 2 days, i was finally able to conclude that it was my browser that was the culprit.
As i said, i was using Windows Phone 8.1, which uses Internet Explorer 11 as the default rendered. Also, My Web server was actually behind a Proxy Server [Apache HTTP].
Now, the Real problem was that the ajax call was returning response status code as 0. And the reason for that was that The Ajax Call was being suspended by The Apache HTTP Proxy Server, because of some tunneling issue. Please note that this was specifically happening with IE11 and Apache HTTP Server.
This was happening since I was using POST request on a HTTPS Based Proxy Server.
Now the solution is too non-technical, but that's what saved my life. In order to save your life from this issue, You must
1. Either convert your POST Request to GET Request
2. Or Before making a POST Request to the Server, make a GET Request to the same server.
In my case, i went with the second approach and it saved my life. Posting this as answer so that it saves someone else too.
You can refer to the following links for more details.

UPDATE: Please, if anyone can help: Google is waiting for inputs and examples of this problem on their bug tracking tool. If you have reproducible steps for this issue, please share them on: https://code.google.com/p/googleappengine/issues/detail?id=10937
I'm trying to fetch data from the StackExchange API using a Google App Engine backend. As you may know, some of StackExchange's APIs are site-specific, requiring developers to run queries against every site the user is registered in.
So, here's my backend code for fetching timeline data from these sites. The feed_info_site variable holds the StackExchange site name (such as 'security', 'serverfault', etc.).
data = json.loads(urllib.urlopen("%sme/timeline?%s" %
(self.API_BASE_URL, urllib.urlencode({"pagesize": 100,
"fromdate": se_since_timestamp, "filter": "!9WWBR
(nmw", "site": feed_info_site, "access_token":
decrypt(self.API_ACCESS_TOKEN_SECRET, self.access_token), "key":
self.API_APP_KEY}))).read())
for item in data['items']:
... # code for parsing timeline items
When running this query on all sites except Stack Overflow, everything works OK. What's weird is, when the feed_info_site variable is set to 'stackoverflow', I get the following error from Google App Engine:
HTTPException: Invalid and/or missing SSL certificate for URL:
https://api.stackexchange.com/2.2/me/timeline?
filter=%219WWBR%28nmw&access_token=
<ACCESS_TOKEN_REMOVED>&fromdate=1&pagesize=100&key=
<API_KEY_REMOVED>&site=stackoverflow
Of course, if I run the same query in Safari, I get the JSON results I'm expecting from the API. So the problem really lies in Google's URLfetch service. I found several topics here on Stack Overflow related to similar HTTPS/SSL exceptions, but no accepted answer solved my problems. I tried removing cacerts.txt files. I also tried making the call with validate_certificate=False, with no success.
I think the problem is not strictly related to HTTPS/SSL. If so, how would you explain that changing a single API parameter would make the request to fail?
Wait for the next update to the app engine (scheduled one soon) then update.
Replace browserid.org/verify with another service (verifier.loogin.persona.org/verify is a good service hosted by Mozilla what could be used)
Make sure cacerts.txt doesnt exist (looks like you have sorted but just in-case :-) )
Attempt again
Good luck!

I was facing the same error, google has updated the app engine now, error resolved, please check the updated docs.
Well, I'm having a weird error here:
I'm developing one GAE app to read some Twitter Data, and after read a lot of docs, I have it working on my test server (Running on my pc) but after deploy and test on the real (my appspot domain) it shows this message:
401:Authentication credentials (https://dev.twitter.com/pages/auth) were missing or >incorrect. Ensure that you have set valid consumer key/secret, access token/secret, and the >system clock is in sync.
message - Could not authenticate you
code - 32
I've tried to recreate my OAuthAppToken and OAuthAppTokenSecret keys, even changing the permissions to "Write, Read and Direct Messages" and even assingning one Callback URL but nothing seems to work...
I've tried using twitter4j.properties OR using setOAuthConsumer(TW_CONSUMER_KEY, TW_CONSUMER_SECRET) OR a ConfigurationBuilder whith the correct constants and I'm experimenting the same Issue.
I'm working with AppEngine 1.8.3 and Twitter4j 3.0.4
Iv'e been writing on log and the Twitter object seems to be well created... I dont understand why is working on my PC but not on the real app.
On some other post someone says that could be because it needs to use Sync clock.. but he doesn't explains where to change that property...
Did someone had a clue?
Ok, the problem was me (and Twitter.... well..... I really think it was Twitter problem for being so dark on his api messages)...
On testing server I was looking for an existing account and on the cloud I was looking for an inexistent one. So, It was my mistake. But seriously, what about Twitter saying: "Access Forbidden"? That doesn't have any sense...
Okay so I'm having some annoying issue here. I am clearly missing something, and already been frustrating myself with this for the last 4-5 hours.
I cannot seem to be able to create a simple GAE+Jersey up and running with IntelliJ.
The frustrating part is that I do not get any errors, just that the REST service is not present after deployment.
I've tried out a few basic stuff, basically everything you can find on Google (and here).
After some frustration I've downloaded this project: https://github.com/BluerockInteractive/GAE-Jersey-Guice-Sample
Just cause this will list out the available servers, plus the deeper logging level.
Now here's the output of the AppEngine startup:
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B42XvjSlpDCtTTdwQl9MSTBlQ0U
So my problem: The AppEngine is up and running. If I create a basic servlet everyting works fine. However, I cannot get Jersey to work. In every form I could try it always throws an
HTTP ERROR 404
Problem accessing /jerseyguicesample. Reason:
NOT_FOUND
Powered by Jetty://
Any ideas, what I could be missing here?
Here's an image of the IDE and the artifact settings: http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/7913/20120428124133.png
Thanks, :D
This example has REST handlers mapped to /rest/test, /rest/players/{name}/xml, /rest/players/{name}/json and /rest/hello.
What (and where) did you map /jerseyguicesample to?
