I am unable to onctact the server from a ClearCase 8 view, with the message:
rpctcp_create: RPC: Remote system error - [WINSOCK] Connection timed out
clearlicense: Error: Unable to contact albd_server on host 'ccsrv02'
clearlicense: Error: Cannot contact license server host "ccsrv02".
clearlicense returns
Using Windows 7 OS
All services are running
Clearcase version 8.0.0.6
How would you troubleshoot that error message?
Check if all the services are running on the client and the server:
Settings -> Control Panel -> ClearCase -> Services
Those ClearCase services ahve dependencies (to Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Locator
and/or Remote Procedure Call (RPC)) and all must be running, in order for a client to contact the view/vob and license servers.

I have read this thread, however unfortunately couldn't find the solution to my problem. I have an ASP.Net Core project (that's called Rent) and it works without any problem on my local machine. However, once I publish the project to the IIS (still in development mode) I get the below error
fail: Rent.Program[0]An error occured during migration
Microsoft.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (0x80131904): A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 50 - Local Database Runtime error occurred. Cannot create an automatic instance. See the Windows Application event log for error details.
---> System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception (0x89C50118): Unknown error (0x89c50118)
The connection string is called DefaultConnection and is the environment variable. Can anyone help me please? Can provide any additional information if required.
The first thing you should check is that your SQL Server instance is up and running and that your database is still available. This error means quite literally that it can't establish a connection to SQL Server from the Secret Server application.
And you can also check follow things in your environment:
Is something blocking the connection between your Secret Server server and SQL Server?
The standard SQL port is 1433. Check with your server administrator - is the Windows Firewall in use, blocking this port on your SQL server? Check with your network administrator - is there a firewall at some point in between that has closed off this port? Keep in mind that if you use a custom port for SQL, it need to be specified the Secret Server database connection using a SQLSERVER,port type of format.
On the server hosting your SQL Server database, is the SQL Server
service running?
Open services.msc or SQL Configuration Manager to view the status of your SQL Server service.
I'm trying to create connection to SQL Server database from InformaticaCloud Administrator menu.
So far getting below error:
The connection test failed because of the following error: [informatica][SQLServer JDBC Driver]The connection to the host COMPUTER, named instance COMPUTER has failed. Error: "Receive timed out". Verify the server and instance names, check that no firewall is blocking UDP traffic to port 1434, and for SQL Server 2005 or later verify that the SQL Server Browser Service is running on the host.
Prerequisites I have now:
1) Firewall is disabled
2) Secure Agent installed and Runtime Environment assosiated with connection is up and running
3) Both host and instance name is Computer (select HOST_NAME(), ##servername)
4) SQL Server Browser is running
Could you please help to resolve described error?
Was managed to find a solution:
1) leave Instance name field blank
2) use SQL Server Authentication instead of Windows one
When I open my project dashboard on my TFS project portal web page, I get the following error.
Reporting Services Error

SQL Server Reporting Services
What can I do to resolve this error?
I had checked that SQL Server Analysis Services was running in
Control Panel → Administrative Tools → Services
The service was running. The solution to this was that I needed to go into
Start → Programs → Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 → SQL Server Configuration Manager → SQL Server Services.
That instance of SQL Server Analysis Services wasn't Running. I started it, and this prevented the error message above.
I am not able to establish remote connections to SQL Server 2008 enterprise edition.
I have followed and implemented a lot of tutorials available. These are the things i have done:
enabled TCP/IP connections in SQL configuration manager.
added a rule to allow inbound connections at port 1433.
allowed remote connections in the properties window of the concerned instance.
But it still gives the error
I am trying to install samples for replication using AdventuresWorks database and i am not able to install the sample.

Start the SQL Management Studio
Connect to the server.
Then choose the server in the Object-Explorer and right-click on properties.
Then check the "connections" settings, there you can/have to allow remote connections for this database server.
Are you connecting to a default instance or named instance? If a named instance, then you you should have the sql browser windows service running. Also ensure that remote connections are allowed (I believe this is a different setting than simply turning on TCP/IP).
One tool that could be helpful is PorQryUI (Port Query), it will test to see if the proper ports are open.
I too, had this problem. I solved by doing a couple of things:
1. Make sure the SQL Browser service is started on my local machine
2. Make sure UDP Port 1434 in the firewall is open for outgoing on the local machine
3. Make sure UDP Port 1434 is open in the firewall for incoming on the remote machine.
The UDP Ports are for the SQL Server Browser. Apparently, Visual Studio uses that to detect that the remote server exists.
This Stack Exchange thread was very helpful to me.
I just rebooted my development server but when the server came back up, I can no longer connect to the DB.
I can't even connect from the Management Studio on the server.
So I check the services and the SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) and SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER) are not started. Starting them gives me an error
Windows could not start the XXX
service.
Any ideas?
EDIT: In addition, I ran the service from the command line and noticed this error:
2010-11-24 15:38:32.02 Server Error: 26055, Severity: 16, State: 1.
2010-11-24 15:38:32.02 Server The SQL Server failed to initialize VIA suppo
rt library [QLVipl.dll]. This normally indicates the VIA support library does no
t exist or is corrupted. Please repair or disable the VIA network protocol. Erro
r: 0x7e.
So I went into The Configuration Manager -> Network Configuration -> Protocols and disabed VIA. That allowed me to start it back up again... but I'm worried that is should be enabled...

Check the event viewer and see if there's a reason logged for it not starting. I've seen something similar when the server runs out of available ram.
Since this is your dev server you probably don't need VIA service running, as long as SQL is started you should be ok.
Firstly check the event log
If these errors is shown
The SQL Server failed to initialize VIA support library [QLVipl.dll].
TDSSNIClient initialization failed with error 0x7e.
Then only disable your VIA protocol services from both.
SQL Native Client
SQL Server Network Configuration
After that restart you SQL browser service and SQL server agent service from SQL server configuration manager
