There is a third party software and there is a combo box in that. I'd like to copy the combo box list. I believe AHK could do it but I can't use exact coordinates because the 3rd party software resize the window often.
Is there a way to get information from the combo box (in AHK or in any other way) without knowing the exact coordinates of the combo box?
Yes it is possible with AutoHotkey. You can use ImageSearch command for it. I recommend use bmp image format with it, it worked for me well, while I had some problem with jpg. I used Paint.Net for editing my images and they worked well.
Try to make image for search as unique as possible. Make screenshot not only of combobox but also some nearby area that does not changes, like this image:
In that way you get coordinates of upper left corner of your image. So you need to adjust coordinates you got from ImageSearch to get real coordinates of combobox. Just add or subtract necessary amount of pixels and you have real combobox coordinates.
Also, always use AutoHotkey and its documenatation from http://ahkscript.org/ (current uptodate version, new official website)! AutoHotkey and its documentation from autohotkey.com is outdated and you may have some problems using them!

My goal is to have a diagram which look like this
Each arrow should be a one dimensional chart, where point are displayed (colors and point size depends on some values)
I'm building my own chart system because I spent a few hours looking for one which allow to custom markers (size and colors, and maybe even shape) but I couldn't find one.
Actually the only one I found is dynamic data display 2.0 which is only proposed in Silverlight.
My biggest problem is the two curving chart I have to do at the top of the diagram.
I tried to use PathListBox control, but because it's a listBox, I couldn't display items at fixed X position (like using a chart).
I'm not asking for a full perfect solution, but can someone give me advices, or clues ?
How would you manage to do something like that ?
It should only be a XAML work here, because all the data are already ready in a ListCollectionView (i'm using MVVM).

I need to display many markers on a WPF image. The markers can be lines, circles, squares, etc. and there can be several hundreds of them.
Both the image source and the markers data are updated every few seconds. The markers are associated with specific pixels on the image and their size should be absolute in relation to the screen (i.e. when I move the image the markers should move along with it, but if i zoom in, they should take the same space of the screen as before).
Currently, I've implemented this using the AdornerLayer. This solution has several problems but the most significant one is that the UI doesn't fare well under the load even for 120 such markers.
I wanted to ask what would be the best way to go about implementing this? I thought of two solutions:
Inherit from Canvas and make sure it is invalidated not for every
added marker but for a range of markers at once
Create a control that holds an image and change its OnDraw to draw all the markers
I would appreciate some pointers from someone with experience with a similar problem.
Your use case looks quite specialized, so a specialized solution seems in order. I'd try a variant of your second option — extend Image, overriding its OnRender method.
I work on gschem, a free software tool for editing electronics schematic diagrams. Recently we have encountered a problem using a GtkScrolledWindow containing a GtkTextView.
Context
Recent versions of Ubuntu use overlay scrollbars, which mean that GtkScrolledWindows no longer set a minimum height that provides enough room for a legacy scrollbar (in fact, they have a minimum height of 0). Likewise, a GtkTextView with no text to display requests a height of 0. This means that one of the scrollable GtkTextViews in gschem has been being displayed as one pixel in height, and this is obviously unusable.
In the dialog box on the right of the screenshot shown above, note the invisible widget between the "Value:" label and the "Add" button.
This has been reported independently by several users -- see also the bug report.

Obviously, we could fix this by doing:
g_object_set (textview, "height-request", 100, NULL);
However, this is pretty inelegant, and will break for users who set very large font sizes in pixels (e.g. users with vision problems or who use high-DPI screens).
Ideally, therefore, we want to set the minimum size of the GtkTextView relative to the default font size, e.g. tell it to "show at least three lines of text".
Can anyone suggest a sensible/elegant approach for doing this?
Just disable the ubuntu overlay scrollbars in your application by doing:
putenv("LIBOVERLAY_SCROLLBAR=0");
Not ideal, but it's a quite good until you can find a more permanent solution. Alternatively just wait until Ubuntu disables overlay scrollbars...
I would add code to dig out the current/default style information, use that to figure out the font baseline height, and then compute some rough size allocation based on that, around three lines as you mention.
Does it have to be a textview ? If you can use an eventbox instead, then you can make a cairo surface from it, render the text with pango, and then use pango_layout_get_size() to get the text height.
Likewise, a GtkTextView with no text to display requests a height of 0.
Probably you can create GtkTextView with some text inside. Like several spaces, and set empty value after creation.
If i have a logo, let's say done as a jpg or even a png. Any suggestion for how I can use that to define a path geometry? It would be really good if any suggestions could be provided for how i can do it in blend.

Yes - I just tackled this problem for an LOB application two days ago.
I can't offer advice for Blend (though I've read that it can be done in Expression Designer). However, the best free tool I've found for this is called InkScape (http://www.inkscape.org).
It's opensource, and while it's intended primarily for editing SVG vector-based images, it has two key features that are useful to us WPFers:
It can vectorize (i.e. "trace") raster images like bitmaps and jpegs, albeit not as well as one would hope, and
It can export the vector image as XAML
You'll invariably find that you get better results from loading vector formats (like SVG, EMF, WMF, etc) and saving to XAML, than if you try to convert a bitmap/jpeg... simply because the process of vectorizing a raster image is error prone at best. So if you want to bring a company logo into XAML, try to get hold of the source files used to create the logo (perhaps done in Illustrator?) and import that into InkScape.

Jasema is a terrific tool right for the job.
Also, don't be shy to use Blend - it is somewhat more difficult to use (drawing shapes using pen) but it gets easier pretty fast. Switch on gridlines and optionally snap to them for good results.
What both Jasema and Blend are lacking, is the ability to easily create shapes with a central symmetry (like stars), so I took parts from Jasema and created my own tool (named Radius) that works a bit like a combination of a ruler and compass.
I have a good idea but you're png, bmp, jpg or other non vector file is must be very simple because we need best scan results and only use inkscape.
Step: Drag and drop your file workspace on Inkscape, download free.
Tip: If your image is color white, Top menu item File->Document Properties-> heck Checkerboard Background and if you want uncheck Page border show.
Step: Top menu item Path-> Trace Bitmap-> Mode check what you want property, i usually use color property and if your file is png check Remove Background then click OK, then wait again Ok button is Enable and close window.
Step: Now you have a two layer, top layer vektor file and bottom layer your file. Select vector file and top menu item Edit-> XML Editor-> select svg path and look side column, d name propery in your data path value.
But this method may not always work or may not give the desired results and draw your own shapes with the scape so you can get the path data from the XML editor.

As input, I had Adobe Ilustrator files.
Adobe Illustrator / CorelDraw is perhaps the best tool out there for these operations that I have used.
Personally, I prefer illustrator for on-screen media. These tracings can be exported into several formats such as EPS, SVG, AI, or even XAML (with this plugin)

I have recently been struggling with this myself. I had a set of icons done in data and needed to update them to look nicer.
I tried everything, manually typing them out. drawing in svg, converting svg to xaml.
in the end i found a list of open source icons from google material icons.
I then used this to convert from the svg files to data

I have a WPF page that has 2 ContentControls on it. Both of the ContentControls have an image, one being much smaller than the other. When mouse over the larger image I want to show a zoomed in view on the smaller image. Something very similar to this: http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes/urban/soho/soho/.
I think I want the larger image control to send out something that actually contains an image - which the smaller image control would pick up and display. Would this be a good place to take advantage of RoutedCommands? Can I pass along an image like that?
RoutedCommands seem a bit misplaced in this case... you'll want the mouse to respond smoothly and the last thing you want are commands to be fired off here and there.
You're probably better off using a VisualBrush. While Ian Griffith's example here is a magnifying glass (an early canonical VisualBrush example in WPF) you could easily adapt it to show a portion of your image.
