Hello All,
I have Linux VM has 8 Gb ram. This's the picture taken from HTOP includes all system information(tasks, services).
There's no application using too much Ram when look at PID's.But total ram usage is 6.26 GB.Why virtualized part of these tasks are too high?
E.x : mssql-server (5711 M VIRT , 511M RES)
I already have configured mssql server while setting max.memorylimitmb to 3072 mb.
But still to much ram using in my server.
Anyone can help me ? How can I fix it ?

I have installed Kali Linux the previous year for learning purpose, but now I am in love with this Linux distro and vim, since I am a new user to linux, based on my knowledge I have tried all possible thing to install Microsoft SQL Server in Kali Linux, but I am unable to install, I have been https://packages.microsoft.com/config/ through this. I suppose Kali Linux is a debian(testing) based distro, so I tried to do it, but I am not seeing any improvement. Please, developer, help me with this
You can install Docker on it, right? Then just use the SQL Server Docker images.

When the Kernel needs to send output to a certain peripheral, how does it know which driver to use?
The usual way is for each driver when first loaded, typically at boot time, to poll the buses it supports and look for matches between what it is designed to support and the returned signatures (vendor and device IDs), and their classes.
This is at least the way it works for the so-called plug and play peripherals.

Im having problems with the installation.
I tried this already , http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv7/ti/pandaboard i don't know if im doing it correctly because when i connect it to the HDMI and the tv, nothing seems to work.
I recently got the same problem with my pandaboard ES. I can't say I have everything working now, but you can have a feedback of the boot with the DB9-RS232 port. You'll probably need to use an adaptator DB9/USB to open a serial connection at 115200 baud with the card (you can use the screen program to do so).

I need a server with a lot of RAM, around ~1TB, for a GIS DB, that would be not written to hard disk, because the data is irrelevant after a few seconds. So I do not need a lot of disk space; I wish to hold all data in memory. The write data would be 1% of INSERT'S and 99% of UPDATE's. Write/Read ratio would be 20/1. I have to choose to rent a dedicated server or rent an Amazon service. I'm wondering: how to calculate the price of Amazon services with traffic ~100TB/month.
I think you might reconsider your configuration, using SSD disk, a really great CPU, and a lot of ram, but 1To of ram is way too much, most system will not handle it. After it's for the price ! It's really expensive, that kind of configuration is 15000$++ a month at OVH for example. So I thinks if you have that kind of problem, the better is to directly call Amazon and ask them for the best configuration and negociate the price.

I prefer to my development work in a virtual machine so my computer don't get messy and slow.
However, I always deal with the issue of licencing, even if the windows version on my host and on my VM is the same.
Is there a way to pay less than buying a full licence for every VM I have?
Are you talking about OS licensing or tools licensing? If this is Windows OS licensing, then MSDN is an easy way to have lots of spare licenses.
