Lazy Loading Photos For A Smoother Mobile Website - mobile

Below are the HTML, CSS, and Javascript I use on my website. I'm using a MAMP server (via an apache) to get it online and have no problems getting it to run over wi-fi. However, when I try to access it via my mobile network the website crashes after viewing a few pages. I have port-forwarded my router.
I think (and please correct me if I'm wrong) that too much is loading on the page at once, which is what is making the website crash when testing it on a mobile network. How would I set up the page so that the photos lazy load? If anyone has any advice it'd be much appreciated.

Use button to move to next scroll-snap

I have a next button in the sliding animation here. I want users to move to the next slide on clicking the next button and it ends on the last slide.
I'm quite new to programming so i tried the below approach to move to a specific div id but not working
<a href={"#slide-${i+2}"}
I'm doing this in react, but for simplicity, i have written this in simple form. Could someone help me with this.
* {
box-sizing: border-box;
}
.slider {
width: 800px;
text-align: center;
overflow: hidden;
}

/*
scroll-snap-points-x: repeat(300px);
scroll-snap-type: mandatory;
*/
}
.slides::-webkit-scrollbar {
width: 10px;
height: 10px;
}
.slides::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb {
background: black;
border-radius: 10px;
}
.slides::-webkit-scrollbar-track {
background: transparent;
}
.slides > div {
scroll-snap-align: start;
flex-shrink: 0;
width: 800px;
height: 300px;

}

You can use scrollIntoView by targeting the id of whatever the next slide is and have a simple state to keep track of the current id.
const App = () => {

React.useEffect(() => {
if (current === 6) setCurrent(1)
document.querySelector(`#slide-${current > 5?1:current}`).scrollIntoView();

How to convert from TSX to JSX in this Codesandbox

I am learning React and JavaScript and now I have this CodeSandbox but I can't convert it to JavaScript React I have tried this for the Card Component:
import React, { useState } from "react";
const Card = props => {
const [expanded, setExpanded] = useState(false);
const RenderCard = (className) => {
return (
<div
className={`card ${className}${expanded ? " expanded" : ""}`}
onClick={() => {
setExpanded(!expanded);
}}
>
<div className="image">
<img alt="digger" src={props.image} />
</div>
<div className="info">
<div
className="bg1"
style={{ backgroundImage: "url('" + props.image + "')" }}
/>
<div
className="bg2"
style={{ backgroundImage: "url('" + props.image + "')" }}
/>
<div
className="bg3"
style={{ backgroundImage: "url('" + props.image + "')" }}
/>
<h1>JCB OES System</h1>
<h2>Report Number #1</h2>
<h3>Load lifter work area</h3>
<div className="button">Open</div>
</div>
</div>
);
};
return (
<div className={`card-container${expanded ? " expanded" : ""}`}>
{expanded && <div className="background" />}
{<RenderCard className="card1"/>}
{<RenderCard className="card2"/>}
</div>
);
};
export default Card;
And I show the Card like this. It's very simple, it's just that when I click a card it does not pop up like the CodeSandbox does.
import Card from "./Card";
import "./styles.scss";
const CreateContent = () => {
return (
<div className="app">
<link rel="stylesheet" href="https://use.typekit.net/jli8mqj.css" />
<Card image="https://www.thetimes.co.uk/imageserver/image/methode%2Fsundaytimes%2Fprodmigration%2Fweb%2Fbin%2Fbeae8dfb-0a41-4f8e-b076-ffd68417287b.jpg?crop=1024%2C683%2C0%2C0&resize=685" />
<Card image="https://www.virginexperiencedays.co.uk/content/img/product/large/PJCBRA__01.jpg" />
<Card image="https://www.toyfarmers.co.uk/images/britains-jcb-3cx-backhoe-loader.jpg" />
<Card image="https://seatylive.blob.core.windows.net/eventimages/2019-Aug-20-Tue_18-37-31-969.png" />
</div>
);
};
export default CreateContent;
The styles is the same, with no changes: I understand that the expanded background when set to expanded=true using the hook that the scss style for background should be in effect but all I get is a black screen.

What am I missing?
To swap your Code Sandbox from TypeScript to JavaScript you should just need to:
Remove all typescript specific syntax from your ".ts" and ".tsx" files (interfaces, typings, etc)
Change all the file extensions to their JavaScript equivalent i.e. ".ts" -> ".js" and ".tsx" -> ".jsx".
Update the "main" property of the "package.json" file to point to the renamed entry point. i.e. "src/index.jsx".
I created a quick CodeSandbox with this already done.

flip an image when onClick event

In order to implement some features in my react app I need to flip an image in a grid horizonaly when the user choose it with onClick event.
I've readed regarding states in react , and noticed that this is what I need.
When onClick event, flip the image.
The follwing code isn't working well.
The isExpanded working fine, but the image in the grid isn't fliping.
What I'm doing wrong ?
I have initiated the isExpanded to false in my constractor.
handleToggle(e){
e.preventDefault();
this.setState({
isExpanded: !this.state.isExpanded,
})
render() {
const {isExpanded } = this.state;
return (
<div
className={`image-root ${isExpanded ? 'image-flip' : ''}`}
style={{
backgroundImage: `url(${this.urlFromDto(this.props.dto)})`,
width: this.state.size + 'px',
height: this.state.size + 'px'
}}
>
<div>
<FontAwesome className="image-icon" onClick={(e)=>
this.handleToggle(e)} name="arrows-alt-h" title="flip"/>
</div>
</div>
);
}
}
The .scss code:
.image-root {
background-size: cover;
background-position: center center;
display: inline-block;
vertical-align: top;
box-sizing: border-box;
position: relative;
border: 1px solid white;
> div {
visibility: hidden;
background: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.7);

transform: scaleX(-1);

}
The issue was accured due to the image-flip css was in the wrong scope.
I just move the image-flip css out of the image-root scope.
Thanks.

Oblique stripe using angularJS and Bootstrap

Is there a way to create such an oblique stripe using angularJS and Bootstrap?
You can do that only using css:
HTML:
<div class="rectangle">
<div class="strip-container">
<div class="strip">Sample Text</div>
</div>
</div>
CSS:
.rectangle{
margin: auto;
width: 200px;
height: 300px;
position: relative;
border: 1px solid #4B88CB;
}
.strip-container{
overflow: hidden;
width: 200px;
height: 200px;
position: absolute;
top: 0;
right: 0;
}
.strip{
transform: rotate(45deg);
-webkit-transform: rotate(45deg);
display: block;
position: absolute;
right: -100px;
top: 20px;
padding: 20px 100px;
font-weight: bold;
text-transform: uppercase;
white-space: nowrap;
text-align: center;
background: #4B88CB;
color: #000;
font-size: 12px;
}
CHECK THE DEMO
You could for something like this
This solution has the advantage of having less "magic numbers" by having only the width of the stripe (could probably be fixed) and the top-offset in translate(50%, offset) as set values.
HTML
<div class="container">
<div class="stripe">
<p>
Sample Text
</p>
</div>
</div>
CSS
.container
{
position: relative;
width: 200px;
height: 400px;
border: 1px solid black;
overflow: hidden;
}
.stripe
{
position: absolute;
top: 0px;
right: 0px;
height: 64px;
width: 100%;
background-color: blue;
text-align: center;
transform: rotate(45deg) translate(50%, 32px);
transform-origin: 100% 0px;
}

React-Select, Multi Select and Text Overflow

I am using React-Select component with multi select. One of the problems I am facing is that if the user select 3 or 4 options the UI looks pretty bad because the text begins to overflow and that causes the component to grow either horizontally and vertically.
I want to have a behavior where the size of the component remains the same and if the user selects more options then it just shows "..." (ellipsis) rather than try to show the newly selected options.
The behavior I want is more inline with this component
http://instructure-react.github.io/react-select-box/
See how it handles multi-select.
I don't want to swap out components now because we have done lots of testing with React-Select.
Can you give me some guide lines on how to achieve this without removing react-select.
i've managed to achieve both the ellipsis effect and leaving the display at one row,
here is a working example
https://codesandbox.io/s/v638kx67w7
hope this helps
I solved this without losing the Input component like this;
import Select, { components as RSComponents } from "react-select";
const ValueContainer = ({ selectProps, children, ...props }) => {
let [values, input] = children;
if (Array.isArray(values)) {
values = selectProps.value.map((x) => x.label).join(', ');
}
return (
<RSComponents.ValueContainer {...props}>
<div style={{
maxWidth: "80%",
whiteSpace: "nowrap",
textOverflow: "ellipsis",
overflow: "hidden",
}}>
{values}
</div>
{input}
</RSComponents.ValueContainer>
);
};
const customStyles = useMemo(() => ({
valueContainer: (provided, state) => ({
...provided,
whiteSpace: "nowrap",
overflow: "hidden",
flexWrap: 'nowrap',
}),
input: (provided, state) => ({
...provided,
minWidth: '20%'
}),
}), []);
<Select
components={{ ValueContainer }}
isMulti
styles={customStyles}
...
/>
