I created a react app without create-react-app. I did my setup manually. Now iam getting a dependency conflict. It is gone when i remove webpack server or with the usage of --legacy-peer-deps. But i do not want to force things. Is there anyone with real solution ?

Unsure which tutorial you are following, but if it is this one: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/create-react-app-without-create-react-app-cra-elhousieny-phd%25E1%25B4%25AC%25E1%25B4%25AE%25E1%25B4%25B0/?trackingId=tP9OVj7YQxCNKYXrT5zD1A%3D%3D
I ran into the same issue, I removed Webpack-server, as most other tutorials do not include it. Since removing it seems to be work.

npm auidt --production provides the following info:
# npm audit report
json5 2.0.0 - 2.2.1

Prototype Pollution in JSON5 via Parse Method - https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-9c47-m6qq-7p4h
fix available via `npm audit fix`
node_modules/json5
1 high severity vulnerability
Try to update your dependencies using npm-check-updates
https://www.npmjs.com/package/npm-check-updates
Turns out, I was not thorough in reading the MUI docs, I had to:
npm uninstall #mui/style
npm i #mui/system
replace old code that was dependent on #mui/style
This removed the version mismatch.
I tried different ways i.e npm update --force / npm audit fix --force which just made it worse by downgrading to different packages creating many more vulnerabilities.
Thanks all for the help! Will accept sancelots answer though I did not try it, it seems like a beginner friendly solution

If I run npm config set legacy-peer-deps true then it wont compile because a range of other issues pop up.
I don't really understand what the problem is as I haven't had an issue before up to this point - but I am really wanting to keep the packages up to date.
Can someone assist or point me in the right direction?
You can ignore installing peer dependencies by using:
npm install --legacy-peer-deps
Conflicts are checked between each module listed in package.json.
It seems that the problem occurred while upgrading the version of react from 17 to 18.
It might be a good idea to go back before the initial upgrade position and check the guidelines for each module.
This is a one of sample, I think the following guide might be helpful.
Migrating to v5: getting started
Maybe the version related to cordova is corrupted by npm command.
It is not recommended unless you are expecting the exact version to be defined after this command works. But sometimes it helps.
This will help you : npm: When to use --force and --legacy-peer-deps
Be sure to back up package-lock.json before deleting it.
There are many problems that cannot be solved by deleting this file.
Some developers explain that this file is a file that keeps the history of all modules installed by the npm install command.
It would be nice to revisit the documentation from this point of view.

React Project installation always fails at inotify (ELIFECYCLE errno 1)

I'm trying to install a ReactJs Project on Ubuntu 19.04. For some reason, the installation always seems to fail at a certain package called inotify.
I'm currently on node v12.10.0 and npm v6.10.3
I've tried several things and even tried to install inotify individually, but nothing seems to have worked. I still have no clue about the reason for this issue.
This is my package.json file.

You need React in your package.json
Try the following in the folder where your package.json is placed:
npm install react --save
If react is already present in your package.json verify that the version is higher then 15.0.
If that's not fixing your error, please provide us your package.json
With the help of #rieckpil, I have followed following steps and it fixed my problem.
1: On this page I collected latest version for all following libraries react, react-dom, react-redux, react-router, react-router-dom, redux and replaced it in my package.json file.
2: Run npm install
3: Run npm start. If getting errors like above, simply restart you computer and run npm start again.

npm ERR! peerinvalid Peer react-dom#0.14.6 wants react#^0.14.6
npm ERR! peerinvalid Peer react-router-bootstrap#0.20.1 wants react#>=0.14.0
npm ERR! peerinvalid Peer react-switch-button#1.1.1 wants react#^0.13.3
Doesn't react#0.14.6 satisfy all of:
react#^0.14.5
react#>=0.14.0
react#^0.14.6
react#^0.13.3
My package.json is:

Did I miss something?
^ Allows changes that do not modify the left-most non-zero digit in the [major, minor, patch] tuple., so react#^0.13.3 does not match react#0.14.6.
It would however match any 0.13.x version greater than or equal to 0.13.3.
