How to import downloadjs into react js file? - reactjs

I want to use downloadjs - https://github.com/rndme/download - and have installed it via npm, I have then checked and it is in my node modules and in my package.json as a dependency.
I have then included the following in the .js doc I want to add download functionality to:
import downloadjs from 'downloadjs';
And then further down I try to use it, using function download(), but I am still getting the error "'download' is not defined"
Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Seems maybe the documentation was out of date as once I used function downloadjs(param, param) instead of download(param, param) it worked.

the library you are using is not maintained for 3 years by now & it's using the old commonjs syntax to import & use the library. you might be able to use it this way:
import downloadjs from "downloadjs";
but as far as it's an AMD module, if you get errors, then the following thread may help you:

Cant resolve ipfs-car/blockstore/memory when importing nft.storage

Im trying to store my nft metadata to ipfs using nft.storage (Reactjs)
When I import the library as explained in their docs I get this error

I read a similar error online for web3storage library and that it is probably a webpack version issue, but there is no solution. Any ideas?
This is how I am importing it:
import { NFTStorage, File } from 'nft.storage'
Exactly as shown in the docs.
Since there's insufficient info on how to deal with this out of the box, this is how I resolved it. It worked fine.
Go to node_modules/nft.storage directory.
Make sure you have ipfs-car/dist/esm/blockstore and ipfs-car/dist/esm/pack. If not, install ipfs-car with npm i ipfs-car. Copy ipfs-car/dist/esm to nft.storage/src.
Inside nft.storage/src, update the ipfs-car import statements in the following files like so:
Inside platform.web.js, update to this: import { MemoryBlockStore } from 'ipfs-car/dist/esm/blockstore/memory'
Inside lib.js, update to this: import { pack } from 'ipfs-car/dist/esm/pack'
Inside token.js, update to this: import { pack } from 'ipfs-car/dist/esm/pack'
This solved my problem.
Crude but works.
importing pack from built version should also work but crude as well...the package doesn't work at all without doing these, they should update it...I will send a pull request later on.
import { Web3Storage } from 'web3.storage/dist/bundle.esm.min.js'
I just upgraded Create React App to 5.0.0 (which upgrades to webpack 5) and it's working fine. Some relevant tips here.

Can I make Reason+React import react module from CDN?

Building a component with Reason and React always gives me an module import statement for "react", which cannot be found if React is included from a CDN. Is there a solution for this? I've tried to define window.react = React in index.html without success. es6-global setting does not change anything.
I'm not using a bundling program like webpack.

Technically, yes you can, but it's not going to be as easy as going with the npm flow and using a bundler.
The ReasonReact bindings are written in a way that produces output JavaScript that imports modules like:
import * as React from "react";
(If using ES6 module style.)
If using a CDN you would probably want an output that looks like this:
import * as React from "https://some.cdn/react";
The syntax (from the ReasonReact repo) that controls the output JS is:
[#bs.module "react"]
external createElement: (component('props), 'props) => element = "createElement";
If you changed it to:
[#bs.module "https://some.cdn/react"]
external createElement: (component('props), 'props) => element = "createElement";
...then you'd get the desired output. But the problem is then you need to change the sources ... i.e. maintain or find forked bindings for React for that CDN. Or set up some code automation that does a find-and-replace of [#bs.module "react"] with [#bs.module "https://some.cnd/react"]. So either way, it's not as simple as using a bundler.

Adding/Overriding Webpack Loaders for a create-react-app?

is there an option to add a loader for a certain file type to a boilerplate create-react-app application? Whatever I tried, I don't seem to be able to get it working without specifying the loader itself in the js file with:
!!import List from './data.txt'
I found the following link, but am hesitant to believe that the de-facto default way of creating a react app nowadays doesn't allow to override/add loaders (simply):

At my last project we used this:
npm i #craco/craco
https://www.npmjs.com/package/#craco/craco
It allows config changes without ejecting.
You can also do this:
in your react-app-env.d.ts add declare module "*.txt"
then in the code you can get the content in Promise:

import/export according to environment variable

For a clientSide app I would like to select a specific import according to the environment variables that were setup in the package.json.
eg:`

import { store } from '../../../index.js
else
import { store } from './index.js';

Is there anyway to do this.
I currently receive the error -
Parsing error: 'import' and 'export' may only appear at the top level
As the error says, import can be only at top level.
If you are using some bundler such as webpack or parcel, you can use a require instead.
Pay attention: that both of the implementations will be inside the bundle, and only one of them will be executed.
You can use web pack dynamic import to enable this if you are using web pack 1
$ npm install babel-plugin-dynamic-import-webpack --save-dev
then in .babelrc
{
"plugins": ["dynamic-import-webpack"]
}

in the newer versions of web pack, you can do this without Babel

the other solution which mentioned before is using require
but i think here you can do it in a different way to avoid having this files in the bundled result you can add build script to run before building the dist which replace this import inside the file completely before bundle it to frontend app
Maybe is better to check process.env.IS_DEV inside the store file and export different values based on the current env

React Undefined npm module

Im sure this is something simple but for the life of me i can't seem to find an answer to my problem.
Basically Im using react and webpack and I've installed a new package (in this case braintree-web-drop-in), however the package is always appearing as null (undefined) when i import it into my react module and just try to log it out at the top of the module (or anywhere)
package.json:
"dependencies": {
"braintree-web": "^3.32.0",
"braintree-web-drop-in": "^1.10.0",
ReactModel.tsx
import brainTree from 'braintree-web-drop-in'
console.log(brainTree);
I can also see that the package seems to have been added to my generated js file through webpack.
Any help would be appreciated!

To me it looks like this module doesn't have a default export (which the import syntax will use if no named export is asked for).

So, in order to see if the module is installed, try this:
import { VERSION } from 'braintree-web-drop-in';
console.log('brain tree version: ', VERSION);
If that works you can use the create with a named import:
import { create} from 'braintree-web-drop-in';
