Is it possible to get a current users acquisition channel ( Facebook, Glassdoor, etc... ) and append it to a string during an onSubmit?
We have a careers page on our site with a search form that when filled out and submitted takes the user to a 3rd party software we use for our job listings. What we would like to do is track the users that submitted that form so we can see what channel lead to them looking for a job.
Ex:
User visits our Facebook page and clicks link to our site. Once on our site they fill out the job search form and is sent to our jobs listing site. We use JS to create the onSumbit url and fill it with the fields they answered and would like add another "acquisition" parameter to it with said acquisition.
You can store the referrer in a cookie if this is different from the domain of your website. In this way you can know where the user came from and use that value in the string you send to submit.

I have a React website, I want to build a system that first a code is created for example its "my-special-code-100". I want to track website visitors who entered the website from a url like https://mywebsite.com/../?code=my-special-code-100 and need to track if or if not X 'not signed in' visitor do a successful payment - a button click on specific page - also need to store an account id of the wallet, payment that happened, and need to see trackings of how many visitors of website came with "my-special-code-100"(and other codes) and how many of them made a payment and stored wallet id should be visible for that visited user.
I couldn't be sure how to and is Google Analytics correct tool for this and could you give example what can I use to achieve something like this ? Thanks
I'm currently working on a NextJS-Supabase project where I have to build a dashboard for some vendors.
Each vendor should be able to login into his dashboard and add his customers to keep track of their informations. The process of adding a customer falls into the following steps :
fill the customer email and submit the request of adding him.
The customer receives an email containing a link available for 5hours.
The link redirects him to a page where he can complete some of his basic information such as address, phone...etc.
Once the form submitted the customer data are updated in Supabase.
I don't know how to implement this in NextJS-Supabase knowing that the customers don't have a user account. Only vendors have a user account and can login/logout.
I created a report in DataStudio and embedded it on my website. I activated the option "anyone with the link can view" so this report will be visible to my website users.
But I need to show my website users different data depending on their user ids and more important I don't want users would be able to see other users' data so if I used URL filtering users would be able to breach and search another user id to see his data.
Does anyone have a solution for this scenario?
In Google documentation I saw an option to limit the report to users in my domain, I assume this will solve this issue, but I don't find how to restrict other domains.
Users are logged onto Google
If users of your website are already logged onto Google, use the Filter by email address guide from Data Studio help center. This requires you to setup FILTER BY EMAIL and then have a field in your data can be directly used as an email filter.
Users are not logged on to Google
If you want a solution where the users don't have to be logged onto Google, you will need to:
Create a Community Connector to pass the filtered data to your users. The connector should accept a short lived token as part of the config.
Create a dashboard with your connector and pass unique short-lived tokens for each user.
You should have an endpoint that returns the current user's data based on the token provided. Alternatively, the endpoint can return only the user's identify and you can query a secondary data source with a service account filtering for the user's identity.
Your connector should call your endpoint to fetch data only for the user/for the user's identity.
This official guide demonstrates how to implement this in more details.
Disclaimer: I work in the Data Studio team and wrote the above guide.
First option is to add extra 2 fields to your data source.
User_ID
Password
For example:
Data, User_ID, Password
$10,Daniel,123
$20,Alex,456
In your dashboard, you need to create two parameters:
User_ID_Parameter
Password_Parameter
Both parameters can set the default value to null, and accepts any values.
Then create a new calculated field:
CASE
WHEN REGEXP_MATCH(User_ID,USER_ID_Parameter) AND REGEXP_MATCH(Password,Password_Parameter) THEN 1
ELSE 0
END
Then create a new filter to the chart that you want to hide:
To include the above calculated field Equal to 1
Second option is to use the Data Studio default Row Level Security
The only caveat is the users need to sign in before they can view the report.
My scenario:
I have an application within which users keep their own journals. For some of the journal records, i want to enable them to post to their facebook timeline.
It was rather straightforward with an old api (obtaining token and posting) but with a new Sharing Product, it seems impossible because its intended to use ograph data and backlink from facebook post to the page within the app but since the journal post itself is for logged user only, i don't see a way how could it work.
So, the question is:
How to enable users to share (actually, "replicate" is more accurate word) content from their authorization protected area within my application to their facebook timeline?
PS.
I am aware of solutions like: Auto post (user behalf) on facebook but that's an old api.
You can not create new content like this any more in any automated way, you can only let your users share links.
But you can point the Share button to any URL you like (parameter href), it does not have to be that of the current page.
Facebook will follow whatever you have set as og:url or canonical, so that would have to be the version without authorization then.
That would also be the URL that users clicking on the link in that post would be redirected to.
I a new programmer and trying to implement a facebook type "feed" in my application. Like Whenever a user do some changes in his profile his linked profiles will get to know that in the form of news feed.
But I am stuck on that as I thought whenever any user saves any data (like "News", "Blog", "Event" or any "Comment") just send the id of the respective classes to the linked profiles and they will see it. Since the id is not generated before the object is saved , the problem is how can I send them. I thought of following workarounds but each have some problem.
Whenever a user posts a news .... a Post object will be made and added to User's Post Collection.
But How do the other users will knew about it.....
1) Send them the id .... but when the id is not created how can you send them the id.
2) Send them the post message and when ever they will click them ... the latest post to them from the particular user will be shown.. but if more than 3 messages then which will be shown?? Shown by the post creation Date no post greater than that date is shownn....but he needs to be shown newer posts..
3) Save the post in all followers feed. the data will be much larger then
4) all the followers on login will check all the persons they are following and save their feed after the time stamp? How to implement this as the Post is saved in User's Profile so I would have to check all the following person and then just check the feed and show them on his feed box; I think I would have to use batch Processes. Processing will take much longer.
I am using objectify-appengine to do operations on GAE.
Any help is appreciated
Are you wanting to update the page with posts in real time like on Facebook and Twitter? To achieve this on Google App Engine you can use the Channel API, which works in conjunction with Javascript to listen for new data and update the DOM.
This talk at Google I/O 2009 by Brett Slatkin describes exactly the pattern you should use for this.
