I am working on this React project which i did the following steps in the project root folder.
yarn
yarn start
and it compiles and runs the first time successfully. However, after code changes (no new libraries were added), during compilation this error comes up:
./node_modules/react-dev-utils/webpackHotDevClient.js Error: [BABEL]
C:\Users\user\Documents\react_project\node_modules\react-dev-utils\webpackHotDevClient.js:
Cannot find module '#babel/helper-regex'
And i end up having to delete the entire node_modules and re download.. Does anyone have idea why this happens?
Delete the node_modules folder and reinstall them.
This worked for me. I hope it can work for you too. 😊
yarn add #babel/helper-regex
comes to mind at first glance
but did you get any workable solution?
It might be issue with node_modules.
You can resolve this issue by the following steps,
Delete node_modules folder from the project directory.
Delete all lock files like package-lock.json, yarn.lock etc.
Install node_modules using npm install command instead of yarn install.

I am fairly new to ReactJS and was messing around with Material UI in a build I'm working on. I installed the package and it completely messed up my build and the ability to open the server.
When I do
npm start
I get the following error:
`> react-scripts start
There might be a problem with the project dependency tree.
It is likely not a bug in Create React App, but something you need to fix locally.
The react-scripts package provided by Create React App requires a dependency:
"babel-jest": "23.6.0"
Don't try to install it manually: your package manager does it automatically.
However, a different version of babel-jest was detected higher up in the tree:
/Users/peter/node_modules/babel-jest (version: 27.5.1)
Manually installing incompatible versions is known to cause hard-to-debug issues.
If you would prefer to ignore this check, add SKIP_PREFLIGHT_CHECK=true to an .env file in your project.
That will permanently disable this message but you might encounter other issues.
To fix the dependency tree, try following the steps below in the exact order:
Delete package-lock.json (not package.json!) and/or yarn.lock in your project folder.
Delete node_modules in your project folder.
Remove "babel-jest" from dependencies and/or devDependencies in the package.json file in your project folder.
Run npm install or yarn, depending on the package manager you use.
In most cases, this should be enough to fix the problem.
If this has not helped, there are a few other things you can try:
If you used npm, install yarn (http://yarnpkg.com/) and repeat the above steps with it instead.
This may help because npm has known issues with package hoisting which may get resolved in future versions.
Check if /Users/peter/node_modules/babel-jest is outside your project directory.
For example, you might have accidentally installed something in your home folder.
Try running npm ls babel-jest in your project folder.
This will tell you which other package (apart from the expected react-scripts) installed babel-jest.
If nothing else helps, add SKIP_PREFLIGHT_CHECK=true to an .env file in your project.
That would permanently disable this preflight check in case you want to proceed anyway.`
When I follow the directions, nothing changes. I did clean install of npm and I created the .env file that it asked.
Is my build just completely ruined?
The error is because you have a node_modules folder in your home directory (/Users/peter/), (which I assume is unintended, and react-scripts thinks that your home folder contains a Node.js project). To fix the error, you should remove that directory (e.g. rm -rf /Users/peter/node_modules)

So I followed the instruction but I've been stucked in step 3 because 'babel-loader' doesn't exist in my package.json in the first place.
I would be very thankful if anyone can help me!
Thanks.
Just delete the node_modules folder and run : npm install
$ yarn start
yarn run v1.22.5
$ react-scripts start

I'm not able to solve this issue, I did tried the following steps but it seems like I'm not getting this? Please give some suggestions, so that i could work on my project smoothly.

You have a node_modules folder in your user profile directory which shouldn't exist. Maybe you ran npm install <something> in your user profile once by accident without -g.
Delete c:\Users\UNION\node_modules and you should be fine.
Note that this was actually in the list of suggestions that you already got:
6. Check if C:\Users\UNION\node_modules\babel-jest is outside your project directory.
For example, you might have accidentally installed something in your home folder.
You wrote you tried the steps - next time it would be great if you could also include the results of these attempts in the question so we know what you tried and what effect it had. In this case, for example "#6: Yes, it is outside of my project directory, but I'm not sure what to do about it".
Quite new to react, and can not find an answer to the simplest of tasks. Just trying to clone a repo to my computer and run it. For example https://github.com/arnab-datta/counter-app .
I do npm install and npm start. But when I do npm start I seem to have dependency errors with a "babel-loader". It gives me the below list of steps to solve the problem, I went through them all and still no success. No matter what project I try to repo the error is always this babel-loader. I am new to react and getting very frustrated being unable to do the simplest of things.

I have tried following the steps suggested however none of this seems to works. I have also tried yarn add --exact react-scripts#3.0.1 and yarn cache clean
I fixed it!
So as the error shows, there is an existing folder of 'babel-eslint' somewhere higher up in my dependency tree. All I had to do was search in finder for that folder and then delete it, once done you can just 'yarn install' again and 'yarn start' then it should work :)
I have no idea where this other 'babel-eslint' folder came from btw...
