In a Word/Office Add-In, given a link to a Word doc in Sharepoint, could the Add-In tell the current instance of Word to open the doc? Alternatively, is it possible to read that Word doc from Sharepoint, and have that doc populate the Word editing window? If so, any pointers would be appreciated.
Well, the silence was deafening. However, I wound up building a small REST API so the addin calls the REST API which fetches the document, serializes it to BASE 64, and returns it to the AddIn. The AddIn is then able to insert it into the doc.

I have a requirement to build an spfx webpart that displays pdf documents stored on SharePoint Online.
The web part is meant to display links to the pdf documents and when one link is clicked, it shows the document with an autogenerated watermark and a dynamic footer. The document should then be downloaded and save those watermarks and footers.
I know spfx and react, Please who can direct me to someone or link where this has been done or provide guidance as to how to achieve it
I am still researching and I want to find the best answers before I start work
I am looking for a solution in episerver to add media files from external sources into episerver.I am aware that episerver has recently released Episerver Content Management API to post contents within Episerver. Is it possible to use this for media files as well.As this is newly introduced in episerver, i cant find any references other than the documentation within epi which has more of CRUD operations on Content. Can someone please point out some reference links for me to get this started?
Any input is appreciated.
Regards,
The content management API is useful if you want to create a headless website that talks to Episerver via an API to get content.
Depending on what you want to use the media for will depend on the optimal approach. I assume you want the content editors to be able to pick these items from within the CMS? If so there are two main appraoches:
You could write a scheduled task using the content repository API to import the media into the Episerver media library
The other option is to create a content provider, so the media is available in the editor, read this to learn how to do it. This option is more fidley so I would go with option 1 if possible.
If you just want to render images on a web page, then call the API using AJAX. Job done!
hi I am working on the fillable pdf in Salesforce, i have uploaded the pdf in the static resource in Salesforce , now need to handle the data to fill in it and download the file , can any suggestions to achieve it
Thanks in advance
There is no functionality in Apex to interact with fillable PDFs. While it's possible to interact with binary formats such as PDF in Apex, it's difficult, slow, and subject to the extensive limitations of the Salesforce governor limits. You'd have to implement this from scratch based on your knowledge of the PDF format.
You will likely have much more success either building PDF manipulation functionality in JavaScript on the front end, or calling out to an external service on Heroku or elsewhere that uses PDF libraries available in some other stack to do this work.
Salesforce does not support inputs on generated pdf via Visualforce
pages.
To achieve this functionality, you can create a form with all the
inputs that are required in the pdf.
Once the user fills in the information in the created form and submits it, generate the pdf with the filled information by the user.
Bonus: you can save the filled-in information as well by creating a record under the object for future reference (data is everything)
I have stored user uploaded document (.doc ,.pdf) as a Blob object into data-store.
Instead of allowing user to download the document, I would like to present it as an HTML page
for viewing the doc. how do I convert Blob into HTML ? does google app engine provides any ready made API for the same?
There is no ready made API in AppEngine to convert .doc or .pdf (or or other types of) files to HTML. You would need to find a library for your preferred language to parse the blob file into its parts structured as an object model (like a DOM). Then you would need to write code to convert individual parts of the object model to HTML, unless you are lucky enough to find another library. And no, StackOverflow is not a good place to ask "what library is there...".
No. AppEngine itself does not provide any file format conversion tools. You might want to look into Google Drive API, which might, to some extent, do the format conversion for you.
You can have embed a PDF reader on a web page by using pdf.js.
Most browsers already have a built-in PDF viewer. If you provide a link to a PDF file, when users click on it, many browsers will automatically display the document. Those browsers that do not support this option, will offer a user to download the file to their hard-drive.
This is the easiest solution - you don't have to do anything at all.
We are having few rich text box in our custom objects in force.com enterprise edition. These rich text box are rendered in an android application given to our clients. Till now we were using the android app online but due to huge customer demand, we wish to make our app offline. But we are facing difficulties due to images in rich text box. The images in rich text box are stored as in a form
But when we try to use the android app offline, we cannot see the images in webview. Consulting our web developer, he said that the images do not have static path and so they cannot be downloaded and stored for offline use. So my query is, is there some way, which will help us to get static path for the images inserted in Rich Text Box available in force.com, so that we can use them offline.
Thanks!
I had the same problem some time ago and also raised the issue with salesforce. They got back to me saying that images within rich text boxes could be stored in any server and needs to be authenticated to via a browser to have access too.
But you could try to use this, but its not a guaranteed approach as salesforce can change the way they store images.

Hope this helps.
Here's the response from SFDC :
As discussed over the call, as of now Salesforce does not have this feature built in the current release, else we would be more than happy to help you.
However, you can also post an idea on our Idea Exchange, where our customers share their ideas and expectations. (http://sites.force.com/ideaexchange/ideaHome)
Please feel free to contact us, if you need any further assistance.
Thank you for contacting salesforce.
