UART Communication SMT32L496ZG - c

I am trying to transmit the signal using the UART Communication at my microcontroller by means of IDE, but it does not work.
My code looks like the following

The software I want to communicate with is Tera Term and it has the following settings:
Serial Communication,
PORT: COM3
Speed: 9600
Data: 8 bit
Parity: none
Stop bits: 1 bit
Flow control: none
If you have any idea why it is not working, please let me know!
Thank you in advance!
Regards
Rostyslav

On the NUCLEO-L496ZG board, the integrated ST-Link makes the LPUART1 peripheral available as a virtual COM port (not UART2).
The code seems to be lacking the pin initialization as well. The two relevant pins must be put into alternate mode 8 for LPUART1 (see product specification for details).
The easiest way to generate the correct code is to use STM32cubeMX and initialize a new project by selecting the correct board (instead of the MCU). STM32cubeMX will then propose to initialize all pins according to the board. If you select Yes, it will create the code for you.

Multiplexed drive of LCD

I have a custom lcd to drive with STM32L073VBTx's internal lcd driver. Duty cyle is 1/4 and the bias is 1/3. The problem is the common pins are activated sequentially even the LCD's RAM registers are equal to 0. When I activate some bits in LCD's RAM register, these segments have more contrast. I changed and tried to all possible configurations of duty cycle, bias, high drive, dead time duration etc. but the result was same. Do you have any idea about this problem?

STM32 HAL I2C Polling Mode

I start recently with stm32 and HAL library. I would like to try a simple communication between two nucleo board; an F4 and an L4. I try to write a simple code using HAL_I2C_Master_Transmit() and HAL_I2C_Slave_Receive(), but I'm stuck because I don't know how implement in polling mode. If I simply use HAL_I2C_Slave_Receive(....) the microcontroller doesn't wait until data are send by the other unit. I need a simple example in order to understand how implement polling mode I2C communication, please.
The result I expect is to see in pData the string "Hello world!"
I show you my not working code.

You have programmed it so that HAL_I2C_Slave_Receive is called once and tries to receive for 50 miliseconds before it times out.
You want to keep trying to receive data. So putting the HAL_I2C_Slave_Receive in a loop and handling it's return value is the way to go.
The intereseting return values to handle are:
HAL_OK: you received data, do something with it.
HAL_TIMEOUT: nothing was received. Try again later.

STM32 Having problems to get DMA + ADC to run. (NUCLEO-G431KB)

I made a new C project:
Made an ADC_1 channel_1
Enabled Continous Conversion Mode
Enabled DMA Continoise Requests
Made a DMA channel
Created code added a buffer, started the DMA and added a Delay to the while loop.
When I now let it run on my NUCLEO-G431KB. And set a breakpoint at the delay. And take a look at my buffer, it's filled with zeros.
Therefore I guess DMA is not working correctly since I get a different reading when I use the ADC without DMA and just poll the values. (I connected a voltage source of 0.61V to this pin)
Additionally, both ADC callbacks are never called.
void HAL_ADC_ConvHalfCpltCallback(ADC_HandleTypeDef* hadc) {
HAL_GPIO_WritePin(LD2_GPIO_Port, LD2_Pin, GPIO_PIN_SET);
}
// Called when buffer is completely filled
void HAL_ADC_ConvCpltCallback(ADC_HandleTypeDef* hadc) {
HAL_GPIO_WritePin(LD2_GPIO_Port, LD2_Pin, GPIO_PIN_RESET);
}
I checked their source and they seem to not be enabled and count as legacy code.

I had a similar issue on STM32H7. For m,e swapping the call order of the initialization calls fixed the problem.
The function MX_DMA_Init(); should be called prior to MX_ADC1_Init();.
This can be set in STM32QubeMX under Project Manager > Advanced settings > Generated Function Calls.
Your code seems to be missing two things:
ADC clocking - no call to the macro
__HAL_RCC_ADC12_CLK_ENABLE()
ADC input pin configuration. PB8 (led?) is configured, but where is PA0?
When something just doesn't work - the first thing to check is clocks.

DMA misbehavior on NUCLEO-F303K8 using HAL

At the moment I am trying to operate a WS2811 LED strip. The way I see it is to transmit Pulse values through DMA using STM32 MC (rn I have nucleo-f303k8), so timer creates continuous PWM signal on STM pin, WS2811 gets the gata and lights up correct LED with correct color.
However, right now I have a big problem with DMA: using CubeMX and Keil Uvision, I configure DMA on timer on CubeMX's defaults (only configuring prescaler, counter and pulse). Using hal_tim_pwm_start_dma function doesn't give me the result I need: whatever value I type into variable I use in the function, it gives me 3.3V signal for 100% of the cycle. Googling had me find 0 of the same problems.
Here is code from main.c. Everything in other files is unchanged.

So the problem was with the timer. I was trying to get my program going, using TIM2, and output didn't look like anything I wanted to get. Then I decided to switch to TIM1 and for some magical reason everything started working!
That said, if you encounter same problem, try switching between timers of your STM32.

using stm32f042 as spi slave

I have two stm32f0's which I am using as a test for spi slave/master. I am programming them using the stm32cubeIde and their HAL library. The two stm's are connected gnd-gnd, mosi-mosi, miso-miso, sck-sck, and PB6-PB6 (for chip select).
First of all, I am a bit confused why the communications setup prepares clock, mosi, miso but does not prepare a chip select pin. Either way, I can set that up manually as a gpio out (on master) and gpio in (on slave). On master, I can set it to low before I transmit and high again after I am done transmitting. But I am confused about how to tell the slave stm32 to prepare to listen.
This is what I have so far on the slave. Basically it takes whatever it gets from the spi line and puts it out over uart so that I can confirm that it heard what it was supposed to. Currently I am just seeing the output "input :5" over and over which tells me that it is not reading anything new in.

When you call HAL_SPI_Receive(&hspi1, (uint8_t *)spi_buf, 1, 100); that is the stm32 in the act of listening. Specifically, it will wait 100 ms to capture a character. If no character is captured in 100 ms, it'll move onto the next line of code.
So if the SPI Master has breaks longer than 100ms between transmissions, the slave might miss the transmission.
But your question was about preparing to listen, not listening.
Since you've connected PB6 to use as a signaling line, you can wait for PB6 to go low before executing HAL_SPI_Receive. The following line will hang until PB6 is low, then execution moves to the next line.
while(HAL_GPIO_ReadPin(GPIOB, GPIO_PIN_6) == GPIO_PIN_SET);
However, if the SPI Slave needs to be doing useful work while it is waiting for the SPI Master to transmit data, you'll want to use an interrupt on the falling edge of PB6 to run HAL_SPI_Receive.
