I am trying to set up my Snowflake ODBC driver to work in EXCEL. I have managed to set up the driver and successfully connected it both SQL server and Tableau but for some reaon, whenever I try to connect to it through excel I get an error about the host not being resolved. Any help?
Answering for completeness (curating tags):
As self-answered in the comments, this issue was resolved by moving the driver into the system folder.

Trying to connect to localdb using Database tab in Rider.
I adding SqlServer jTds and Rider shows this error
Connection to SunEngineDb1 failed. [08S01] Network error IOException:
.\pipe\MSSQL$LOCALDB#E65C6709\sql\query (Can not find the specified
file)
What am I missing, and how it can be solved?
It is ASP.NET Core 2.0 project with localdb database on development. If I run it it works perfectly including database connect.
Well, finally we discovered the problem. It is the mistake in the driver we provide. To have this issue fixed urgently, delete the file \config\jdbc-drivers\jdbc-drivers.xml and restart the IDE. Then, please, refresh your driver to 1.3.1.1 or just put [latest] there.
Aware that this topic has been raised many times here (I have gone through the posts), but none of the suggestion on the posts has resolved my issue.
When I attempt to create a linked server to the oracle database from SQL Server Management Studio, I get the error:
Cannot create an instance of OLE DB Provider 'OraOLEDB.Oracle' for
linker server ''. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 7302)
My understanding of this error is that the Oracle provider is not installed correctly or not at all.
To check this I ran 'ODBC Data Source Administrator (64-bit) and attempted to add the provider (which was not available).
To resolve this I fully installed Oracle 10g Client as an admin and restarted the server. I added the new oracle bin folder to the environment %PATH% as well as %TNS_ADMIN% to point to the tnsnames.ora file.
I have run 'tnsping' using the value specified in the tnsname.ora file and it is able to connect.
I have exhausted my ideas to get the oracle provider recognised by the ODBC 64 bit connector.
Does anyone have any idea that could resolve this issue?
Thank you for any help.
The solution was to follow the steps suggested by Dmitry. However, make sure you carry out the following step:
C:\Users\dbrowne\Downloads\ODAC121010Xcopy_x64>.\install.bat oledb
c:\oracle\odac64 odac64 true
as an admin!
I am trying to connect to my local MS SQL SERVER 2008 R2 using JDBC. I get the following error
BW-JDBC-100034 "Configuration Test Failed. Exception [java.sql.SQLException] occurred.
java.sql.SQLException: No suitable driver found
I have already verified the following
SQLJDBC.jar is in the path TIBCO_HOME\tpcl\5.8\jdbc & TIBCO_HOME\tpcl\5.8\LIB
The classpath tibco.env.STD_CP_EXT is set to the path TIBCO_HOME\JDBC in the designer.tra file.
Still I get the BW-JDBC-100034 error. Kindly advise
Could you please provide the jdbc driver you are using in this JDBC Connection activity? If you are using Microsoft driver you have to use the sqljdbc4.jar as you have already used. If you are using a tibco driver however, you need the TISql.jar which you can obtain by installing the product TIBCO-dbdrivers-2.0 from download.tibco.com.
Happy that you were able to fix the issue.
Currently we are using the odbc driver to connect to our MS SQL Server. We however want to be able to pull a directory down to our local machine, make changes, and push back to the server. We are able to connect to the MS SQL Server from our server but we cannot make the connection from our local machines. Does anyone know how to do this? We want to still use the odbc driver as that is what we are using on our server for connections.
thanks!
You may not be able to connect to the Server via ODBC because of network issues. When you are creating your ODBC connection, have you tried to use the IP address of the SQL Server as opposed to the server name? You may also need to use the DOMAIN\Server syntax.
There are quite a number of potential reasons you cannot create the ODBC connection. This link addresses some of those issues:
https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/b479cb4a-99a8-437a-8796-7d9f77910ec8/cant-create-an-odbc-connection?forum=sqlexpress
Hope this helps. Let me know if you still have issues.
I need to access my data stored in the Paradox database.
I have installed Datadirect drivers for accessing the paradox database and have configured the User DSN and System DSN data source connections as mentioned in all the manuals.
I still am not able to connect to my Paradox database and get :
Network Initialization error, Cannot connect to file.
I currently have :
> Control Panel>Administrative Tools> ODBC Datasource> Drivers> Datadirect Paradox 6.0
Is there anyway I can test whether my Datadirect drivers have been installed correctly? I could not find anywhere how to do the same.
Any help or advise on how I can test the the drivers would be very helpful.
Thank you.
If you find the driver name under ODBC Datasource> Drivers, the driver has been installed successfully, the error you got leads to a problem reaching database over the network.
Check your connection string and if the file you pointing is really reachable ...
