I am trying to generate a report by using SQL Server 2008 R2 File Stream and WCF Service. I am able to generate reports if the service is hosted in the same server which database is located i.e. Database and service is hosted in the same server.
If I hosted the service in different server I am getting the "System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception (0x80004005): The system cannot find the path specified" exception. I have given all the necessary permissions to the SQL FileStream share location like IIS_User, Everyone etc and I am able to access the share path from the new server also. Still getting the same error.
When I am checking EventViewer in server it is throwing, System can not find the specified path
\\Machine_Name\FolderName\v1\DBNAme\dbo\TableName\ColumName\06E9456C-A090-24Ge-9C35-25FDG54FE78RR25
\\Machine_Name\FolderName\ this one is SQL FileStream share path.
Please help me to get out this.
It seems that the issues like this are related to any of the following need to be looked at:
firewall settings from the web server to the database server.
connection string errors.
enable the appropriate protocol pipes/ tcp-ip.

In my opinion, this is likely to be caused by a connection string error, you need to check your connection string.

I am trying to connect my RDS instance to a Jmeter load test however no matter what I try, I keep getting this error message in the Results Tree:
Cannot create PoolableConnectionFactory (The connection to the host database-1.cqdkrfikhe1t.us-east-1.rds.amazonaws.com, named instance database-1 failed. I feel it may be a problem with my Database URL in JDBC Connection Configuration.
The picture below shows the summary report.
I have mainly tried rewriting the Database URL multiple different ways but none of them seem to work. I have also tried removing and reinstalling the JDBC Drivers but that doesn't seem to work either. I have absolutely no idea what the problem could be. Could someone please help me out with this problem?
Edit: When I change the Database URL I sometimes get this error
message as well:

I think you need to use port 1433

I was working on an ASP.NET MVC5 application and pushed it to git. Someone else cloned the project to their computer.
When they try to run the app it works up until there is a database call. They get the error message:
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: 'A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)'
In the Server Explorer we can see that the connection is closed. We also see no tables at all, like as if there was no database.
Does anyone know how we can approach this? I'd think that the connection string remains the same on each machine? The database was created code first, do we somehow have to recreate it? If so, how?

The connection string should be the same.
You should first disable Windows Firewall and antivirus programs (and similars), if they're present, and test again.
You should try a connection via another database client too, just to check if you are blocked someway.
If these attempts doesn't solve the problem, you can recreate the database for test pourposes, if you will. For Entity Framework, for example, search "migrations" term in Google.
The error is relevant. Obviously, from the computer hosting the cloned solution, the SQL server is not reachable.
If, in development, you used a local SQL Server (like SQL Express or Local DB), you must verify that on the computer hosting the clone solution you have the same setup. If you used a remote server, you must check that the server is available to the computer hosting the cloned solution.
In both cases, you can use Server Explorer to verify the db connection and access.
Unfortunately, there is no satisfying answer.
At first, we reinstalled Microsoft SQL Server. That alone did not help.
We did change the autentication from Windows Authentication to SQL, because the person working on that workstation still had the account details from the previous owner.
That alone did make the test connection successful. But then, we got another error when doing the "Update-Database" command in VS, which we solved by deleting a rogue migration that was there for some reason unknown.
Now it works - sorry for not offering a more concise solution.
I'm working on setting up MediaWiki but I'm having trouble connecting to the SQL Server database.
Credentials are good but I'm getting the following error:
Cannot access the database: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.
I've followed along with some mentions of installing some additional DLL's to support this but I'm either not setting them up correctly or this isn't the correct way to do this.
Are you are using a MSSQL account or a windows account credentials, make sure your connection is set for the right one or at least set it to accepts both.
I have the following situation:
A sql server 2014 is installed
While the server was shutdown the hard drive the databases were on had troubles which resulted in the loss of these files
So now I have the situation that the server has databases configured to be existing where the files don't exist any longer.
When I now try to start the sql server via the configuration tools it does not start and in the log files I see that he throws an error that he doesn't find the database files. When I tried to copy the same files there from another server I still had the same problem but the error message was now "access denied" (as naturally they had different users).
So my question is: What (aside from a reinstall) can I do to get the sql server up and running again?
Change the database file permissions to allow access for SQL Server. Look at an existing file to see what permissions must be configured.
I setup the my WCF service on server machine.
The server OS is Windows 2008 with SQL Server 2008 Express.
I am trying to access to my SQL Server (mdf) file to read data using LINQ to SQL.
I see that the DataContext is OK - but when I try to get information that in one of the table I get an exception

I don't know what i need to define or change in the IIS 7.5 that I'm using in the server side.

Update: the connection to the database file is fine - but getting information from table is thru an exception. The connection string is:
Data Source=.;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|\ServiceData.mdf;
Integrated Security=SSPI;User Instance=True
If you already have a server, why don't you just attach the MDF to the SQL Server (Express) running, and then use it like a normal database on your server?
After you do this, use a connection string like:
server=Server\SQLExpress;Database=YourDatabaseName;Integrated Security=SSPI
I never quite liked the AttachDbFileName= and User Instance approach - seems like a (unreliable) hack to me, which really doesn't make sense if you're running on a server machine.
The reason that you are getting this error message is because your code is in the security context of a user that has never logged on to the server. The user therefore does not have a profile and you therefore get an error when the code attempts to write to a non-existant profile.
You could use marc_s's approach or you could run as a user that has a profile.
