Pass an argument as pattern for file - batch-file

I am trying to convert a *.coverage files into XML and then use them and publish code coverage in Jenkins. However, the path to the coverage file always is different and contains Timestamp. Due to that when I call CodeCoverage.exe and I am trying to pass a pattern instead of the direct path and direct file name.
Basically everything works when I point directly to the file, but when the pattern is used, nothing is happening.
*This is working*
C:\CodeCoverage\CoverageTool\CodeCoverage.exe analyze -output:.\TestResults\coverage.xml ".\TestResults\coveragefiles\test.coverage
*This is not working*
C:\CodeCoverage\CoverageTool\CodeCoverage.exe analyze -output:.\TestResults\coverage.xml ".\TestResults\**\*.coverage
Now trying to make it working in cmd, but letter will put it to the groovy (Jenkinsfile) as a bat command.
Is it even possible in that way? Should I first find a string, make a string variable, and pass it to the codecoverage ? thanks in advance

Trying to loop through Directory to list all the files using lua

I am new to lua to trying to understand and put pieces to together and looking out for some help.
I have gone through the existing articles on lua file looping but unable to get the desired output.
Question - I have a folder with files, Folder path - "D:\Test_Files\Outbound\Client\final"
Files in the folder with extension - .txt
Trying to :
Get the count of files in the folder(in this case "final" folder).
Read every file, building a loop something similar to this:
list = {}
for i=0,(#Totalfilecount) do
local fr = io.open('D:\Test_Files\Outbound\Client\final\'..filename.,'rb')
local f = fr.read('*.txt')
Customfunction(f) -- Passing file content to customfunction to apply business logic.
end
Questions :
How to get file count from a directory?
How to read the directory to check if the files with "*.txt" exist?
How to use table list to store each file name and read through the loop?
How to read each file via loop and pass the value to function "Customfunction(f)"?
Code is expected to run on windows. Please share suggestions in pure lua without using external file system functions such as 'lfs' as we do not like to import external functions.
Any Suggestions/help will be greatly appreciated!
You can't (at least shouldn't) do this without extensions to Lua. To accomplish this, you have to download LuaFileSystem library. You can do it using LuaRocks:
$ luarocks install luafilesystem
Use library as such:
require "lfs"
function dirtree(dir)
assert(dir and dir ~= "", "Please pass directory parameter")
if string.sub(dir, -1) == "/" then
dir=string.sub(dir, 1, -2)
end
local function yieldtree(dir)
for entry in lfs.dir(dir) do
if entry ~= "." and entry ~= ".." then
entry=dir.."/"..entry
local attr=lfs.attributes(entry)
coroutine.yield(entry,attr)
if attr.mode == "directory" then
yieldtree(entry)
end
end
end
end
return coroutine.wrap(function() yieldtree(dir) end)
end
An example use of code above:
for filename, attr in dirtree("D:\Test_Files\Outbound\Client\final") do
print(attr.mode, filename)
end
You have to check does extension equal to txt. To read file extension use this snippet:
function GetFileExtension(path)
return path:match("^.+(%..+)$")
end
So, to answer your question(s), you can get amount of files in directory just by counting elements in array returned in dirtree. To answer second question, just use code from the post. Table that you want is returned by dirtree(), but you may want to extract only .txt files from it. To read a file, just check other SO answers. You've got given name (in array), so use it.
EDIT: You can parse result of dir and ls command to get directory listing, but you shouldnt. Althrough this way you wouldn't need to install any libraries, your code is going to be heavily OS-depedent.
Adding libraries to your code isn't so bad. Hacking things is worse.
(Not sure file extension extracting function is going to work. I didn't make dirtree code used in this post, it belongs to David Kastrup)

Why Shake dependencies are explicitly `needed`?

I find first example of Shake usage demonstrating a pattern that seems error prone:
contents <- readFileLines $ out -<.> "txt"
need contents
cmd "tar -cf" [out] contents
Why do we need need contents when readFileLines reads them and cmd references them? Is this so we can avoid requiring ApplicativeDo?
I think part of the confusion may be the types/semantics of contents. The file out -<.> "txt" contains a list of filenames, so contents is a list of filenames. When we need contents we are requiring the files themselves be created and depended upon, using the filenames to specify which files. When we pass contents on to cmd we are passing the filenames which tar will use to query the files.
So the key point is that readFileLines doesn't read the files in question, it only reads the filenames out of another file. We have to use need to make sure that using the files is fine, and then we actually use the files in cmd. Another way of looking at the three lines is:
Which files do we want to operate on?
Make sure those files are ready.
Use those files.
Does that make sense? There's no relationship with ApplicativeDo - it's presence wouldn't help us at all.

UNIX Shell script: file reading issue

I have to read a file in my shell script. I was using PL/SQL's UTL_FILE to open the file.
But I have to do a new change which will append timestamp to the file.
e.g import.data file becomes import_20152005101200.data
Now timestamp is the time at which file arrive at the server.
Since the file name changed I can't use the old way of file accessing.
I came up with below solution:
UTL_FILE.FOPEN ('path','import_${file_date}.data','r');
To achieve this I have to get filename and trim it using SUBSTR to get timestamp and pass to file_date variable.
However I am not able to find how to access filename in a particular path. I can use basename. But My file name keeps changing because of timestamp.
Any help/ alternate ideas are welcome.
PL/SQL isn't a good tool to solve this problem; UTL_FILE doesn't have any tools to list all the files in a folder.
A better solution is to define a stored procedure which uses UTL_FILE and pass the file name to process as an argument to the procedure. That way, you use the shell (which has many powerful commands and tools to examine folders and files) or a script language like Python to determine which file to process.

Using bukhantsov.org command line query output with options

I am trying to use the tool here business objects query builder output
And there are virtually no examples, so I'm struggling to make it work. It produces no errors, but outputs no file in the directory where the batch file is, that I can see.
Here is the code inside querybuilder.bat:
set lib=c:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\4.0\java\lib
java -cp "querybuilder.jar;poi-3.8-20120326.jar;%lib%\*" org.bukhantsov.querybuilder.Program %*
Here is the code inside what I am running, which I've named RunQuery_ALLACTIVE.bat, except of course with my Server, Username, and Password changed for the purpose of this post.
I have this all on one line, with no line breaks.
querybuilder.bat -cms:SERVER -username:OURUSERNAME -password:OURPASSWORD -query:"SELECT * FROM CI_INFOOBJECTS where SI_SCHEDULE_STATUS = 9 order by SI_NAME" -auth:windowsad -excel "Output.xls"
Can't tell if the - options go on different LINES ?
Can't tell if I'm supposed to put output file in quotes, or if it should be an existing file or not?
can't tell if for Windows AD (which we use), I would put "Windows AD" or WindowsAD, I'm assuming no spaces obviously.
Tons of unanswered questions on this tool - it LOOKS cool, but has anyone actually successfully used it? Can't really find comments or history on the 'net..
To answer your questions:
The options go on the same line, not on different ones
As Joe said, you'll need to specify the output file as -excel:"Output.xls"
If you want to use Windows AD, you'll probably need to specify secWinAD (case-sensitive).
If you're not sure about the command line options, I suggest you build up gradually: first only specify the required options, then add the optional ones one by one so you know which one is giving you problems.
Also, I noticed that the download page contains a version compiled for XI3.x and BI4. Make sure you use the correct version, corresponding to the version of BusinessObjects you're using. Also, verify the path in the batch file to see if it points to a valid folder containing the JAR files for the BusinessObjects environment.
Update:
I just noticed that the same author/developer created another application (GUI, not command line) that might be a bit easier to use. Have a look here.

Copying multiple files to a Winscp directory via Script

I have a problem when trying to upload multiple files to one WinSCP directory, i can manage to copy just one single file, but the problem is that i need to upload many files that are generated by a software, the names are not fixed ones, so i need to make use of wildcards in roder to copy all of them, i have tried many variants on the code, but it all was unsuccessful, the code i am using is:
open "sftp://myserver:MyPass#sfts.us.myserver.com" -hostkey="hostkey"
put "C:\from*.*" "/Myserverfolder/Subfolder/"
exit
This code does actually copy the first alphabetically named file, but it ignores the rest of the files.
Any help with it would be much appreciated
Try this in script
Lcd C:\from
Cd Myserverfolder/Subfolder
Put *
Try and do all manually first so you can see what's going on.
