ReactJS asynchronous returns - reactjs

I have read some Stack Overflow questions about ReactJS and asynchronous returns, but I don't get it.

What should I do in order to make my HTML page show "Loading..." in these areas what are not loaded yet, but changes the text as soon as the content is ready to show up? I would like to make a page load faster (asynchronously) if I have some kind of data-fetch going on in the background instead of letting users wait so long.
It seems that ReactJS supports standard modules like 'fs' and others so this asynchronous issue is the only case I want to know and verify it's working for until I start full courses about ReactJS.
Are there some simple examples that would help me understand this issue?

React uses state and props. When either update the component will be re-rendered.

Why this react code requests data from server twice [duplicate]

I have a counter and a console.log() in an useEffect to log every change in my state, but the useEffect is getting called two times on mount. I am using React 18. Here is a CodeSandbox of my project and the code below:

useEffect being called twice on mount is normal since React 18 when you are in development with StrictMode. Here is an overview of what they say in the documentation:
In the future, we’d like to add a feature that allows React to add and remove sections of the UI while preserving state. For example, when a user tabs away from a screen and back, React should be able to immediately show the previous screen. To do this, React will support remounting trees using the same component state used before unmounting.
This feature will give React better performance out-of-the-box, but requires components to be resilient to effects being mounted and destroyed multiple times. Most effects will work without any changes, but some effects do not properly clean up subscriptions in the destroy callback, or implicitly assume they are only mounted or destroyed once.
To help surface these issues, React 18 introduces a new development-only check to Strict Mode. This new check will automatically unmount and remount every component, whenever a component mounts for the first time, restoring the previous state on the second mount.
This only applies to development mode, production behavior is unchanged.
It seems weird, but in the end, it's so we write better React code, bug-free, aligned with current guidelines, and compatible with future versions, by caching HTTP requests, and using the cleanup function whenever having two calls is an issue. Here is an example:

In this very detailed article called Synchronizing with Effects, React team explains useEffect as never before and says about an example:
This illustrates that if remounting breaks the logic of your application, this usually uncovers existing bugs. From the user’s perspective, visiting a page shouldn’t be different from visiting it, clicking a link, and then pressing Back. React verifies that your components don’t break this principle by remounting them once in development.
For your specific use case, you can leave it as it's without any concern. And you shouldn't try to use those technics with useRef and if statements in useEffect to make it fire once, or remove StrictMode, because as you can read on the documentation:
React intentionally remounts your components in development to help you find bugs. The right question isn’t “how to run an Effect once”, but “how to fix my Effect so that it works after remounting”.
Usually, the answer is to implement the cleanup function. The cleanup function should stop or undo whatever the Effect was doing. The rule of thumb is that the user shouldn’t be able to distinguish between the Effect running once (as in production) and a setup → cleanup → setup sequence (as you’d see in development).

You can’t “undo” a network request that already happened, but your cleanup function should ensure that the fetch that’s not relevant anymore does not keep affecting your application.
In development, you will see two fetches in the Network tab. There is nothing wrong with that. With the approach above, the first Effect will immediately get cleaned... So even though there is an extra request, it won’t affect the state thanks to the abort.
In production, there will only be one request. If the second request in development is bothering you, the best approach is to use a solution that deduplicates requests and caches their responses between components:

Why is the updated state variable not shown in the browser console?

I understand that the method returned by useState is asynchronous, however, when I run the this code, I am delaying the console.log by upto 5 seconds, but it still logs the previous value and not the updated value of the state variable. The updated value would be 2, but it still logs 1. In the react developer tools however, I can see the state changing as I press the button, though I am curious to know why after even such a delay the console prints an obsolete value? This is not the case with class components and setState but with function components and useState.

In your code your setTimeout is getting the variable value from the closure at the time it was invoked and the callback function to the setTimeout was created. Check this GitHub issue for the detailed explanation.
In the same issue, they talk about utilizing useRef to do what you are attempting. This article by Dan Abramov packages this into a convenient useInterval hook.
State updates are asynchronous. That means, that in order to view the new value, you need to log It on the next render using useEffect and adding it to the dependencies array:
In this example, give a look at the order the logs appear:
First, you will have the current one, and once triggered, you will have the new value, and then it will become the 'old value' until triggered again.

Another technic to console.log a value afterward a state change is to attach a callback to the setState:

A state take some time to update. The proper way to log state when it updates, is to use the useEffect hook.
setTimeout attaches the timer and wait for that time, but it will keep the value of variable from the beginning of the timer, witch is 1

This is not the case with class components and setState but with
function components and useState
In class components, React keep the state in this.state & then call the Component.render() method whenever its need to update due to a setState or prop change.
Its something like this,

Even though you cannot do this.state = 'whatever new value', React does that internally with class components to save the latest state value. Then react can call the render() method and render method will receive the latest state value from this.state
So, if you use a setTimeout in a class component,

console.log(this.state) // this render the latest value because React replace the value of `this.state` with latest one
}, 2000)
However in functional component, the behaviour is little bit different, Every time when component need to re render, React will call the component again, And you can think the functional components are like the render() method of class components.

The variable value in app is 1 & variable value in app2 is 2.
Note: variable is just a classic variable which returned by a function that hooked to the component ( The value save to the variable is the value return by the hook when the component was rendering so it is not like this.state i.e its hold the value which was there when the component is rendering but not the latest value )
Therefore according to the Clouser, at the time your setTimeout callback invoke ( Which was called from app ) it should log 1.
How you can log the latest value ?
you can use useEffect which getting invoke once a render phase of a component is finished. Since the render phase is completed ( that mean the local state variables holds the new state values ) & variable changed your console log will log the current value.

If you need the behaviour you have in class components, you can try useRef hook. useRef is an object which holds the latest value just like this.state but notice that updating the value of useRef doesn't trigger a state update.

How to implement promise when updating a state in functional React (when using useState hooks)

I know similar questions are bouncing around the web for quite some time but I still struggle to find a decision for my case.
Now I use functional React with hooks. What I need in this case is to set a state and AFTER the state was set THEN to start the next block of code, maybe like React with classes works:

The this.setState callback alternative for React hooks is basically the useEffect hook.
It is a "built-in" React hook which accepts a callback as it's first parameter and then runs it every time the value of any of it's dependencies changes.
The second argument for the hook is the array of dependencies.
Example:

In other words, setResult would run every time the value of open changes,
and only after it has finished changing and a render has occurred.
We use a simple if statement to allow our code to run only when open is false.

My question is regarding including an array that doesn't stop loading even when using useEffect. Other questions do not cover this topic; they cover similar but different approaches.
I am fetching data from my firebasefirestore and setting the data required.
Now I only need the data to run once and to be displayed, but when i use the useEffect hook with the dependency (it doesn't work without the dependency), it starts running continuously and i can see in the network tab that it keeps on fetching the data non stop.
How can I fix this, what can i do to make my useEffect run only once even if it has a dependency array.

To do this, React would unmount and remount trees using the same component state as before.
This feature will give React apps better performance out-of-the-box, but requires components to be resilient to effects being mounted and destroyed multiple times. Most effects will work without any changes, but some effects assume they are only mounted or destroyed once.
The right way to do this is to keep track of whether or not it’s the first render and use that as a condition for executing your code in the effect. This way, it doesn't matter whether there are zero, one, or many dependencies for the effect. Here's an example which uses a custom hook to track that state:
