I have a notebook that I am trying to automatically execute using a batch file, but to do so I need it to launch in the Anaconda prompt. Based on the suggestions from this post, I was able to get the batch file to open it by calling the activate.bat, but it wouldn't run the second part.
#echo on
call %windir%\System32\cmd.exe "/K" C:\Users\mccom\AppData\Local\Continuum\anaconda3\Scripts\activate.bat C:\Users\mccom\AppData\Local\Continuum\anaconda3
papermill file.ipynb file_out.ipynb
Any tips?
Based on the Advice of Compo, calling papermill before calling anaconda worked.
#echo on
call C:\Users\mccom\AppData\Local\Continuum\anaconda3\Scripts\activate.bat
call papermill New_Send_Email_Personal.ipynb New_Send_Email_Personal_out.ipynb
pause

I have a problem in my jenkins job and I isolated into one command. So I created another separate job to try to fix it.
So in this job, called "teste" I only have one single command:
start cmd /k call "C:\Program Files\myDir\myBat.bat"
This opens a separate cmd window running my bat file, which should keep running "forever".
But the problem is when I do it, my jenkins job keeps stuck into a "exit 0" operation that I have no idea from where it came from.
Thats the console:
[EnvInject] - Loading node environment variables.
Building remotely on Machine01 in workspace C:\workspace\teste
[teste] $ cmd /c call C:\...dir\jenkins.bat
C:\workspace\teste>start cmd /k call "C:\Program Files\myDir\myBat.bat"
C:\workspace\teste>exit 0
Then it keep stuck at that point.
Example of myBat.bat content:
echo hi
pause
There's any way to make this call in another window without waiting for its finish?
I solve my problem changing the way I was calling my other .bat, calling it through powershell. But since I was from a bat file, I used the command to send a powershell command, calling my other bat file.
Also, I've added another line changing the jenkins BUILD_ID to a fake one, so it doesn't kill it.
So I changed from this line:
start cmd /k call "C:\Program Files\myDir\myBat.bat"
To this :
set BUILD_ID=dontKillMe
powershell -Command "Start-Process 'C:\Program Files\myDir\myBat.bat'"
I hope it helps someone someday.
I need to run 'a.exe'.
When I start 'a.exe' file, a console pops up, and I should type "go", then the program start.
If i want to make a batch file to run this program, how should i make this.
I tried as below:
///////////
%~d0
cd %~dp0
start a.exe > "go"
pause
///////////
but "go" appears on the batch console, and the "a.exe" program still requires "go" text.
How can i solve this?
Assuming you are coding a windows .bat script, you can execute any file by just passing the file with its path and its argument on the same line a.exe go, so your script would be something like this:
#echo off
c:\path\to\file\a.exe go
PAUSE
I am turning off CMD echo so the output of a.exe is easier to be read.
There is another question here were this is further explained: Create a batch file to run an .exe with an additional parameter.
On the other hand, if you need to call another script, you would need to use the method call
#echo off
call c:\path\to\other\script\script.bat
c:\path\to\file\a.exe go
PAUSE
You can use:
start echo go| a.exe
Just type in
a.exe go
Hope it helped you out.
You can also use it to run files through certain programs

Experts, I am trying to run a bat file using the below.
start /wait "D:|Silent_installer.bat"
start /wait 'D:def.bat"
It's happening like both bat files running at the same time.
But I wanted the first bat file to run completely then def.bat should start. The first bat file takes approx 60 min and inbetween second bat file starting.Ideally I wanted the first batch to complete 100% then second bat file should start.
I also used call like below but no luck
call "abc.bat"
call "def.bat"
Any suggestions would be of great help
You have to use start "" /wait command with the program in the abc.bat file itself. One of the programs being used inside abc.bat is multi-threaded and lets the batch file end before it finishes.
why not simply
"abc.bat"
"def.bat"
in your batch file ?
You could use Start command to start application
Ok. Two points here.
The start command is used for asynchronous execution, so if you " wanted the first batch to complete 100% then second bat file should start", just don't use it!
In order to execute two Batch files from inside another one, you must use call command as you show us in your question, that is:
.
call "abc.bat"
call "def.bat"
Perhaps if you explain what "I also used call like below but no luck" means, we may help you in a better way.
PS - Did you realized that your first example
"D:|Silent_installer.bat"
contain an invalid character | in the name of the Batch file?
I have creted a batch file that I want to run the SetupCodeGroup.exe
When I double click the batch file it doesnt run the exe file. A command prompt opens up but it doesnt run the file. Can someone tell what I missed or what I am missing
C:\Users\raw008\Desktop\Critcare\SetupCodeGroup.exe
type pause on the next line and check whether this executable comes on the command prompt .
try
start C:\Users\raw008\Desktop\Critcare\SetupCodeGroup.exe
moreover
start /d "path_to_file_directory" program.exe
is the complete line to execute program and console will not wait to program to exit .
I wonder if this exe requires administrative privileges. Try right-clicking the batch file and running it as administrator.
#echo off
start C:\Users\raw008\Desktop\Critcare\SetupCodeGroup.exe
echo Done
pause
try that if that dose not work then your computers privleges are messed up, i ran into the same problem on my cousins computer.
I'm attempting to execute a batch script that currently looks like this:
D:
cd D:My Documents\FtpSolution\Test
getftp.bat
call delimconvert.exe
call convert-to-xls.bat
However this stops dead after getftp.bat has run.
What am I doing wrong? It's important that these commands all run sequentially.
Use call:
Calls one batch program from another.
CALL [drive:][path]filename [batch-parameters]
batch-parameters Specifies any command-line information required by the
batch program.
If you invoke other batch files without call then control is passed to them but not back again (which is what call changes).
use start command to launch it in a new window.
start /wait getftp.bat
Try using "Goto :EOF" rather than "exit" at the end of the batch file that you're calling - in your case, the getftp.bat file...
That's what fixed mine - tested on Win10 enterprise.
