Not able to Connect to MSSQL Server - sql-server

We have recently migrated our server. Now I am try to connect to MSSQL Servers through the Administrator account but I am getting the below error.
I am trying to connect with SQL Server Auth.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: Shared Memory Provider, error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe.) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 233)
PS: Below are things, I have already tried:
Restart the services.
Check the order of protocols & make sure -
Shared Memory> TCP/IP > then Named Pipes
Also, I have tried to use
with a fully qualified name.
I don't have access to connect with Windows Auth. I have tried to create an account but no luck. Will you advise on how to hack in now?

The user id I had in my connection string was not existing in the database (not server).

Cannot connect to server after creating a logon and user

I've been having troubles in creating new users on the SQL Server. Those were the steps I took:
Connect to the server via Windows authentication
Access Security > Logons > Create Logon
Create a new Logon to use SQL Server authentication
In each database, create new users (same name as logon). Those users were set Owned Schemas and Membership as db_datareader and db_datawriter
Close the connection and connect by the user created
After that process, I get the message:
It is not possible to connect to DESKTOP-QMQIHKL:
A connection with the server was successfully establishes, but during the logon process an error occurred. (provider: Shared Memory Provider, error: 0 - There is not a process in the other extreme of the pipe). (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 233).
I've tried to overcome this error message by:
Opening SQL Server Configuration Manager and enable the TCP/IP protocol.
Opening Windows Services and executing both, SQL Server Browser and SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER).
None of that have worked. For that reason, I would like your help in solving this problem.
Have you enabled SQL Server authentication mode? By default, SQL Server is configured to use exclusively Windows authentication mode, so it will not accept your SQL Server authentication logins.
For changing the accepted authentication modes, see this article: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/database-engine/configure-windows/change-server-authentication-mode?view=sql-server-ver15

No process is on the other end of the pipe error when trying to connect to SQL Server database through VB.NET application

I have a SQL Server database which I connect to from my VB.net client application.
Everything works fine in most of the systems. But in a few new VMs the client application is unable to connect to SQL Server and it throws the error mentioned below. The strange thing is that I can use the same credentials (SQL Server authentication) to connect through SQL Server Management Studio in the same system.
A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the pre-login handshake. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe.)
The sample connection string used is as below
Data Source=[server name];Initial Catalog=[db name];Persist Security Info=True;User ID=[username];Password=[pass]
I have checked similar answers and have already tried the following
Made sure SQL Server is accepting remote connections
Made sure TCP and Named Pipes are enabled in SQL Server
Started SQL Server Browser service
Tried specifying IP address instead of server name
By reading related articles, some of them point eventually to SSH, TLS1.1 and TLS1.2 issues. I also suspect firewall, but because I do not have admin rights to the system, I am not able to check the inbound and outbound rules.
Any suggestions would help.

Unable to connect to another connection in SSAS Tabular

I have a very weird issue with SSAS Tabular connecting to a SQL Server source database. I've spent almost the entire day on this, and searched online in various ways to find a helpful answer, but none of the suggestions solved this mysterious problem for me.
It used to work fine, but I tried various connection settings (Windows vs SQL authentication, and different impersonation modes), but now I no longer can get it to work (even if I revert back to the previous bim file in source control).
When I process a table from the WORKSPACE database (through SSMS), it works. But when I process a table from the DEPLOYED database (still through SSMS), it does NOT work.
The connection I am using is:
-SQL Server Native Client 11.0
-Windows Authentication
-Impersonation mode of a Windows account (which has the appropriate permissions)
The source database is in a SQL Server database located on a different server (but in the same network).
I have searched everywhere online, but didn't find anything that could help me.
I have tried changing the connection driver (OLE DB Provider for SQL Server), and I have restarted the SSAS Tabular service.
The full error message I get when trying to process a table on the deployed database is:
Failed to save modifications to the server. Error returned: 'OLE DB or ODBC error: Login timeout expired; HYT00; A network-related or instance-specific error has occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. Server is not found or not accessible. Check if instance name is correct and if SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. For more information see SQL Server Books Online.; 08001; Named Pipes Provider: Could not open a connection to SQL Server [5]. ; 08001.
A connection could not be made to the data source with the Name of 'DataWarehouse'.
'.
In fact, after I tried a second time to restart the SSAS Tabular service, the error message I get after attempting to process a table is slightly different:
Failed to save modifications to the server. Error returned: 'OLE DB or ODBC error: A network-related or instance-specific error has occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. Server is not found or not accessible. Check if instance name is correct and if SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. For more information see SQL Server Books Online.; 08001; SSL Provider: The requested security package does not exist
; 08001; Client unable to establish connection; 08001; Encryption not supported on the client.; 08001.
A connection could not be made to the data source with the Name of 'DataWarehouse'.
'.
According to your description, it seems to be related to connection problem. You need to check whether corresponding SQL server service and SSAS Service is running(check server which contains "DataWarehouse" is running and can be connected). You could go to "SQL Server Configuration Manager " to restart them.
In addition, you also need to make sure your current windows credential can access this database(if you use window credential). And check whether this server enable remote connect.

SSRS: how to prompt user and password for remote SQL Server instance

I've installed tigertoolbox from Microsoft and I'm using SQL Server Performance Dashboard Report daily.
It's very useful and I suggest you to install it if you are not using it yet.
BTW, when I connect to localhost everything works smoothly but when I'm trying to connect to another SQL Server instance on the network I receive the error
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
Cannot create a connection to data source 'DataSource1'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection)
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server.
The server was not found or was not accessible.
Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections.
(provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)
Access is denied
The answer is very easy: I can easily connect to localhost thanks to my credentials but I need to enter user/password for a remote SQL Server instance.
How can I ask to SSRS to prompt user and password for remote SQL Server instance?
The problem Cannot create a connection to data source ‘DataSource1’. (rsErrorOpeningConnection) is even mentioned in the comments on the official Microsoft page but it's not mentioned how to fix this issue.
Check if you are running the SSRS on the default port of Server. If not, inform the port in the connection.
The answer is very easy: I can easily connect to localhost thanks to

Server instance
That is NOT the answer.
The error tells you that your server was not found, so it cannot be authentication error, the server is not reached so it just cannot authenticate you.
You should check your connection string if it's right. if it's correct, it can be firewall or your server is not configured to accept remote connections.
So for whe first thing post here your connection string, it looks like this:
My picture is for shared DSN, if you use it embedded you can find it in your report properties

How to resolve issue in getting connected to SQL Azure Database?

I configured the SQLAzure database. I configured the firewall for my IP and when am trying to connect to that database from my local using SQL Server Management studio, getting below error
TITLE: Connect to Server Cannot connect to XXXXX.database.windows.net.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 53)
For help, click: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?ProdName=Microsoft%20SQL%20Server&EvtSrc=MSSQLServer&EvtID=53&LinkId=20476
The network path was not found
How to resolve this issue?
Please also check network protocol when you connect to Azure database via SSMS. It seems you are using named pipes and TCP/IP is excepted.
Hi Bravo are you able to browse the instance via Visual Studio if you have it installed?
Can you also confirm that you are not behind a corp firewall that blocks 1433 outbound?
Really minor thing but the title of the error has a trailing "." which if that is the machine name you are trying to connect to won't work - it may just be appended by the error message.
You can try a few things:
Ensure SQLAzure database name is correct (the error that you posted translates to name doesn't even exist)
Try adding port number at end of the connection
XXXXX.database.windows.net,1433
If the issue still persists, try pinging the SQLAzure from your local machine.
