I'm trying to connect my database to Altium using *.dblib file. After i connected, i have chosen neccesary table and mapped design parameters to database field names:
Then i have tried to use components from this table in my project, but "Place" button was disabled, and there was no any previews, but paths in "footprint path" and "library path" are valid:
Also if i try to open symbols or footprints using popup menu in table, nothing happend, but as i already said, paths are valid:
What i'm doing wrong?
Usually I experience this when I forgot to add paths in the model and search path.
By pressing the Option button in the DbLib file.
I have not added footprint paths or library paths as separate entries in the database though.
But you say this is properly entered, and I can only think of one other issue:
I have experienced that if I change the database, mdb files I need to restart Altium before I see the components appearing in the preview.

I currently created a report that I would like to duplicate 40 times but with a different filter each time. So far I'm afraid this is only possible with a very manual process but I was hoping if someone has a faster solution?
Would it be possible to connect to the DataStudio API (if there is one) and run a script for this?
Also, making a design change can be problematic as it needs to be copied to 40 reports. Does anyone have a suggestion for this?
A report is stored as an RDL file in the file system. Its of XML format. Make a copy of the file in the file system and open the copy using a text editor (I prefer notepad++) and find the parameter. Change the paramater to whatever value you want it to be and save the file under a different name. I would include the parameter name in the report name. If the report as using 'Memphis' I would name the report Sales_Memphis.RDL.
Do this 40 times. Be very careful about not changing the structure of the XML file (Don't change any of the element names or opening and closing symbols(<>). Re-import the file into SSDT report project to verify it is using the correct value.
To import a file into an existing project:
Right click on “Reports” folder and select “Add” then “Existing Item”
Now file browser window will open.
Find the file and double click on it.
Ideally you can have a dropdown with all the possible values for users to choose from but I guess that is not appropriate for your needs.
If this is a good solution please check it off as valid solution.
I checked this with google support and apparently there is no way yet to do this.
There are currently no API's available to do this nor can you download something similar to an RDL file. Right now the only way is manual duplication and to make adjustments for each report separately.
Have you looked into custom bookmarking. It sounds like it might be able to address the problem you're expressing. This way you would only have one report, but the links you would share would automatically apply the correct filter value.
We have a script file called CreateClientDatabase.SQL, double clicking it opens it in SSMS where we can change a few parameters and execute it.
Problem:
A few hours/days later we may need to do the same again for another client, but if the original tab in SSMS has not been closed then double clicking the file will simply bring that tab to the fore and not actually open the file.
So it's easy to assume the script you are now looking at is the same as the file when it is not, and this can lead to all sorts of issues.
Is there a way round this?
Can SSMS open a second copy of the file, or warn the user that it hasn't actually opened it much like Excel does.
What you need, I think, is something similar to excel or word template files: whenever you open such file by double-click, a new document with the contents of the template is created.
SSMSBoost add-in (that I develop) has “Autoreplacements” feature: you can define a “magic token”, that will be replaced by your script, whenever that token is typed. For example, we have pre-defined token “sel”, which is replaced by “select * from” whenever you type “sel” and press space.
You could associate your script with any word, like “doit”, so whenever you visit next customer, you just open new query window, type that word+space and you have your script in the window immediately.
Just to mention: SSMSBoost allows you to define “favorite” connections, so, you can save all your cutomer’s servers in one list and quickly switch between them.
Alternative:
Have a look at SSMS Templates (View->Template explorer). SSMS allows creating your own templates and opening them by double-clicking their name from Template Explorer. In connection with SSMSBoost “Preferred connections” list you have a good setup to start your work quickly.
Hope this helps.
If file is opened from the windows explorer then it opens another instance of SSMS.
I think what you need is to detect when the SQL script file is changed outside if the SSMS environment:
make sure that Tools -> Options -> Environment -> Documents -> Detect when file is changed outside the environment is checked.

I manage a team of designers working on Indesign.
When we work on a project, it often happens that a designer has to work on the project of another. We work with Dropbox for Business.
But when we take the work of another designer, there is often missing links and fonts.
Is there a plugin or a way to develop a plugin that would allow, when we create a new indd file (or for the protection of the same file):
Automatically create a "Links" folder and another "Document fonts" at side of the indd file
Systematically add a new link or new typography in the corresponding folder?
To simplify: each action on font or on a link, make a kind of "Indesign Package" in real time?
If this is not a solution, do you have any solutions to meet this need?
I don't know of a specific script or plugin that does this.
However, it should be possible to write a script with an eventhandler with a beforeClose event that runs certain script commands every time a user closes a document (or even every time a user adds, changes or deletes a link). At this point the script could run some copyLink commands on all the images and fonts (?) placing them all in the folders next to the document.
The whole script could be made a startup script, so it becomes active anytime any user runs InDesign.
(I'm actually not sure, if fonts can be copied so easily. Worst case scenario would be that the script would need to run some packaging command to gather the fonts somewhere, copy them over to where you need them and then delete the rest of the temporary package.)
Did you consider Creative Cloud Libraries ? They are meant to allow sharing assets within a team. Apart form that, you users would need to have a same access to the file system (a common drive letter for the network path for example).
Another solution would be to use a DAM solution so users would link files from the DAM.
Eventually, you could sure think of a script as mdomino offered.
I am using Clearteam Explorer 8. I recently was browsing a project folder which contained a symbolic link. Explorer said that I would need to enable something in order to follow the link. I said ok.
Now it insists on showing me every possible folder in all of my views including unloaded ones. The folders have no contents, but it makes all views really hard to navigate as there is a lot of chaff in the view's tree.
I cannot find where this option is set/unset because I set it in response to a one-time prompt. Does anyone know how to turn this off and have it only show me loaded folders?
Check in the Load Rules tab of the "Edit Configuration" dialog box, for Web views only, if you have the option "Show Obsolete Directories and Files" selected.
Un-selecting this option might help.
If you can edit the config spec of your view, you can add cleaning rules, like:
element /avob/* -none
If you placed it just before the last one (element * /main/LATEST), that would hep ClearCase to not select at all any element which wasn't already selected before by the config spec selection rules.
I had the same problem and I solved it by:
Removing the parameter ccvtreeviewer.fetchFullTree=true from file com.ibm.rational.clearcase.prefs. On my machine, this file is located in folder: C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\.Rational\CTE8\workspace\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.core.runtime\.settings\com.ibm.rational.clearcase.prefs
Editing the file com.ibm.rational.team.client.ui.model.prefs and update theses parameters:
appliedTreeRules_0=com.ibm.rational.clearcase.ui.actions.ShowLoadedVobsAction|Public and Private VOBs|true|true|true|System;
nonappliedTreeRules_0=com.ibm.rational.clearcase.ui.actions.ShowUnloadedVobsAction|Unloaded VOBs|true|false|false|System;com.ibm.rational.clearcase.ui.actions.ShowUnloadedElementsAction|Unloaded Elements|true|false|false|System;com.ibm.rational.clearcase.ui.actions.ShowLoadedPrivateVobsAction|Private VOBs only|true|true|false|System;com.ibm.rational.clearcase.ui.actions.ShowLoadedPublicVobsAction|Public VOBs only|true|true|false|System;com.ibm.rational.clearcase.ui.actions.ShowUnmountedVobsAction|Unmounted VOBs|true|false|false|System;
As scary as it sounds.
I select a remote file, I hit delete. Instead of deleting the selected remote file, Dreamweaver chooses to delete the currently selected LOCAL file(s) - even if they're unrelated.
EDIT: I am not able to 'deselect' the soon-to-be-deleted LOCAL file, not that I should have to. Didn't work this way in CS3.
The only way I caught this at all, is because DW tried to delete a file (LOCAL file in screenshot - to the right of the image) which had site links. Thank dog it had site links. Shame about all of my other work which I haven't found yet.
Screenshot attached, describing the steps I took. Also to note, I did search prefs and site prefs etc to see if there was a 'Wreak Havoc Randomly Upon Deletion' checkbox - there was nothing of the sort.
Adobe hasn't answered my for weeks now, am about to lodge a request but figured I'd start here instead of going through that ordeal.
Thanks for any help/thoughts.
Screenshot is quite large - dual monitors capturing all of the prob in situ. http://codefinger.co.nz/projects/fpx/mod/xeditor/dw_cs5_localFileDeletion_lame.gif
I have come to the conclusion that 'BACKSPACE' deletes remote files, and the 'DEL' key deletes local files. I too figured this out the hard way, and deleted some important files. I haven't seen anything in the new features on why this was changed like this, but it may have been nice to let people know of the change.
Adobe is aware of this bug and will be addressing it in there next update. There is a simple work around where you don't have to change views.
Select the remote file, files or folder that you want to work with.
Click the refresh button at the top of the files panel.
Select the remote file, files or folders that you want to work with a second time.
Right click and choose "Delete".
getting this too. Quick workaround. If you have dreamweaver show just the remote site the delete action works as it should (ie it deletes the remote file). I'm not keen on this view but for now it'll be a case of using it to delete remote stuff. Hope this is fixed soon - do any of you know if there's an 'alert me' function on an Adobe bug report? Cheers Andy
