I'm getting below error when i'm trying to access google pubsub via python library.
HttpError 403 when requesting
https://monitoring.googleapis.com/v3/projects/xxxx/timeSeries?filter=metric.type%3D%22pubsub.googleapis.com%2Fsubscription%2Fnum_undelivered_messages%22+AND+resource.label.subscription_id%3Dtest&interval.endTime=2018-08-28T13%3A11%3A58.256545Z&alt=json&interval.startTime=2018-08-28T13%3A10%3A58.256533Z returned "The caller does not have permission"
Below is the scenario which i'm trying:
I'm trying to fetch "number of undelivered messages" from the subscriber.
I'm using python library to access the google cloud.
I'm using to secret json file to access the google.
I created a service account called "monitoring" and gave monitoring admin, pubsub admin roles, monitoring read roles.
I have given below scopes for the authorization.
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/cloud-platform
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/pubsub
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/monitoring
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/monitoring.read
By this script I can get topics list but when I try to fetch monitoring details it is throwing error.
Can somebody help me what I'm missing here?
I had the same access issues. Your account needs access to the role "Monitoring Viewer".

I am trying to use the request:
GET https://management.azure.com/subscriptions/{subscriptionId}/resourceGroups/{resourceGroupName}/providers/Microsoft.Compute/virtualMachines/{vmName}?api-version=2020-12-01
From microsoft graph API:https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/rest/api/compute/virtualmachines/get#code-try-0.
I created an app registration within the an AD subscription. When I try to use the oauth2 credentials associated with the app registration I receive a 401. I believe this is due to a permissions error. I tried using https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/graph-explorer, but I am unable to assume the app registration to simulate the request. Any insight as to why this might be happening or how to debug the issue would be very helpful
Unlike the accepted answer, I had to set the scope to access this url...
https://management.azure.com/subscriptions/{SubscriptionID}/providers/Microsoft.Compute/virtualMachines?api-version=2020-12-01
to:
https://management.azure.com/.default
Your error is not a lack of permissions but the use of the wrong scope.
The error is actually very simple, you need to grant Azure Service Management api permissions instead of MS graph permissions, and then you need to set the scope to: https://management.azure.com/user_impersonation.
Next, use the auth code flow to obtain an access token.
Request an authorization code in the browser.
https://login.microsoftonline.com/{tenant id}/oauth2/v2.0/authorize?
client_id={client id}
&response_type=code
&redirect_uri={redirect_uri}
&response_mode=query
&scope=https://management.azure.com/user_impersonation
&state=12345
Redeem token.
Call api:
Please note that do not use graph-explorer test, because you are not calling MS graph api, you can use postman.
In Azure Active Directory I've registered a new app and given it the Read and create online meetings permissions. I've granted admin consent for the permission and now I'm trying to create a meeting through the command line.
I generated a client secret for the app.
Then I'm requesting a access token using my tenant GUID, client ID of the app and client secret I generated. This gives me back a jwt. When I decode the JWT amongst the roles I can see "OnlineMeetings.ReadWrite.All" which gives me hope that I can actually create meetings using this bearer token.
I then send a POST request to https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/users/<my-user-guid>/onlineMeetings
with the following body:
{
"startDateTime":"2021-03-16T14:33:30.8546353-07:00",
"endDateTime":"2021-03-16T15:03:30.8566356-07:00",
"subject":"Application Token Meeting",
"participants": {
"organizer": {
"identity": {
"user": {
"id": "<my-user-guid>"
}
}
}
}
}
and the response comes back with
"code": "Forbidden",
"message": "Application does not have permission to Create online meeting on behalf of this user.",
Am I missing something?
Edit:
As some of the comments have suggested I should create an application access policy. So I'm following the documentation which asks me to Connect using admin credentials
When i run Connect-MicrosoftTeams -Credential $userCredential with my account it fails with the following error:
Connect-MicrosoftTeams: accessing_ws_metadata_exchange_failed: Accessing WS metadata exchange failed: Response status code does not indicate success: 406 (NotAcceptable).
Connect-MicrosoftTeams: accessing_ws_metadata_exchange_failed: Accessing WS metadata exchange failed
Connect-MicrosoftTeams: Response status code does not indicate success: 406 (NotAcceptable).
Connect-MicrosoftTeams: : Unknown error
But this is what is confusing me. I don't really know if I'm trying to login with the correct account. I'm using my personal account on azure which is (afaik) not a business account with skype for business.
I'm running the commands to log in on the azure portal's PowerShell interface. Am I supposed to run this on my local machine instead?
I think I'm not fully understanding what all of the moving parts are that need configuration.
Can I add those application Access Policies in the azure portal interface somewhere?
According to the api documentation, make sure you grant the OnlineMeetings.ReadWrite.All application permission to the application. Then you need to use the client credential flow to obtain an access token.
Please note that when you create an online meeting with an application token, administrators must create an application access policy and grant it to a user, authorizing the app configured in the policy to create an online meeting on behalf of that user (user ID specified in the request path).
I am using a daemon auth API and I am able to get /groups but if try and use /groups/GROUPID/planner/plans I get a UnknownError and the message says
401 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials.
You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials
that you supplied.
I have Group.Read.All, Directory.Read.All, Group.ReadWrite.All, Directory.ReadWrite.All permissions as per the documentation. And I am using the https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/auth-v2-service?context=graph%2Fapi%2F1.0&view=graph-rest-1.0 (Get access without a user
) steps to get my token. I have got my administrator to click the Grant access (they are all "Granted").
Only planner stuff seem to be the issue (I can get, create, delete groups, and everything else) I am using v1.0 of the API and I tried beta both didn't work.
I checked my access token on jwt and it has
"roles": [
"Group.Read.All",
"Directory.ReadWrite.All",
"Group.ReadWrite.All",
"Directory.Read.All"
],
Which I assume means they are all there.
You are using client credentials flow which uses application permission. But GET /groups/{group-id}/planner/plans api doesn't support application permission. It needs delegated permissions. See the difference here.
I'm trying to build a functionality where user can export contacts from salesforce. I used REST API and the below api to get contacts from user account. I'm able to access contacts from my account but if I login as different user(account which is not used to create the API key) then I'm not able to use the below API, I'm getting 403 forbidden error, am I doing something wrong?
services/data/v20.0/query/?q=SELECT+name,email+from+Contact
I tried to search for document related to this but unfortunately I couldn't able to find one. Can somebody please help me on this?
We have an app that allows a user to connect to Salesforce and import data using OAUTH. Works fine for Dev edition users, but Enterprise edition users sometimes get a 401 Forbidden when the app makes a call to describe after they're successfully logged in.
I did manage to find this nugget in Saleforce's documentation for describeSObjects() that says:
Your client application must be logged in with sufficient access
rights to retrieve metadata about your organization’s data.
Does anybody know what exactly those sufficient access rights are? For Enterprise edition users, does the Salesforce admin need to grant specific permissions to the user, so that user can retrieve metadata?
Any help is much appreciated.
Needed to have full access permissions set on the Connected App.
The salesforce admin controls which users have access to which sobjects via the CRUD settings on the users profile.
Typically you'll want to call describeGlobal first, which'll give you info about which the sobjects the user has access to.
You shouldn't see a 401 from the SOAP API, as SOAP 1.1 requires errors to be returned with a 500 status code. So i'm guessing you're using the REST API, but 401 is Unauthorized, not Forbidden, if you're really getting a 401, it sounds like you might be using an expired access token. The response body should have more info on why you got an error response.
