Assign same Group ID to ID with same values - Recursive sql query - sql-server

The table contains PID and corresponding values. PIDs with same values should be assigned same group id. A, B, D are directly connected (value = ABC) and since C is connected with D (value = GHI), A,B,C & D are all part of the same group.

Variable within SQL query

I have this:

Within the parameter field is an id (0C01C994-1205-E511-988E-26EE4189191B). Is it possible it could sequentially assign a different id from a list for each row? There are 5 id's in total.
What i'm trying to get to is this result set equally split between the 5 different id's.

You can use something like the following. Basically, use a row number for both your IDs and your data table to update, then do a MOD (%) operation with the amount of ID's you want to assign, so your data table to update is split into N groups. Then use that group ID to assign each ID.

The ordering of the ROW_NUMBER() function will determine how ID's are assigned.
You could potentially do this by using the ROW_NUMBER() field in a subquery; for example:

If you want the system to pick those values then you could put then in their own temporary table, too.

I need a more reliable sort for CTE hierarchy query

Example table:

I want to sort parent and child records from the same table in alphabetical order (more than one level deep):

Just when I thought things were good, it isn't reliable. For example, if an item has more than one word. Like:

The cruddy way I quickly did this was by adding a prefix column in the table with the value of - for all records. Then I could do this:

These hierarchical queries still give me a headache, so perhaps I'm just not seeing the obvious.
I tend to use row_number() ordered by Name in this case

Retrieve most frequent values from each column within groups

For each group, grouped using field GRP, I would like to retrieve the most frequently occurring value in column A and the most frequently occurring value in column B, and potentially do this for many other columns.
Sample Data:

It just doesn't look very efficient, and even less so if I were to add a column C, D, etc...
Is there a better way?
I wouldn't say this approach is "better" because it will generate the exact same execution plan. However, I find this type of approach a lot more maintainable as the number of columns might grow. For me this is a lot easier to read.

I'll start out this answer by saying this is NOT going to be more efficient to run - it should just be easier to add/subtract columns. To do this you just add them into the code in two places.

How do I get distinct COUNT in pivot?

I have a following table:

I need a pivot table of following type:
STATE A R T TOTAL
UP 2 1 0 3
DL 1 1 1 3
MN 0 1 1 2
DISTINCT COUNT OF ID FOR EACH LAB FOR EACH STATE.
I then need the pivot tables filtered for following columns:
GROUP
DATE
CODE
So 1st table will have the pivot table above counting only those records which have GROUP=S
2nd table will have the pivot table above counting only those records which have CODE=1
and so on, I wish to put multiple conditions. and generate several tables one by one and export them.
If this is possible in SQL please let me know! I ruled out excel vba due to the size of table (source table will have 800,000 records approx).
