Distributing jar containing a library path pointer - sql-server

I am trying to connect to a MS SQL database using integratedSecurity.
If you do not define a java.library.path to sqljdbc_auth.dll, you will get a: WARNING: Failed to load the sqljdbc_auth.dll cause : no sqljdbc_auth in java.library.path
I have tried the standard solution, which is to define a library path: -Djava.library.path=
This works insofar as I can define the library path in Netbeans (project>properties>run>VMOptions) and can access the database when I run from netbeans.
However, I would like to be able to connect to the database outside of Netbeans as well. The aim is to build an executable jar that can be used from different workstations, pointing to a single instance of the DLL on a shared disk.
However when I build and try to execute the jar, it fails.
How do I get the java.library.path pointer to remain the same in the jar as it is in Netbeans (or otherwise enable the jar to use integratedSecurity to connect to the database)?

Problems compiling Traffic library

I attempted to install the Traffic library for the book "A Touch of Class" but was not able to compile the examples. EiffelStudio complained about a base2.ecf file.
Error code: VD00
General configuration parsing error.
What to do: fix the configuration file.

base2.ecf is found in where Windows installed Eiffel: C:\Program Files\Eiffel Software\EiffelStudio 18.11 GPL\unstable\library\base2.ecf The offending line of code seems to be this in the Traffic configuration files:
I have attempted to change this configuration file pointing directly to where the file is, using the actual path, to no avail.
Setting the variable EIFFELBASE2 might help:
set "EIFFELBASE2=C:\Program Files\Eiffel Software\EiffelStudio 18.11 GPL\unstable\library"
Then, EiffelStudio should be started from the environment where the variable is set.
(However, I wonder if this is the library to be used with the examples, or if there is another one that comes together with the examples.)

How to configure PDFNet for .NET application to publish to Citrix server? (AnyCPU)

So I have been trying to config the project to make it work on our server via Citrix.
I used this line of code to set the path:

I got this error every time (bin is where the .exe file is):
INFO Program [(null)] - Path: [bin]\PDFNet -
ERROR Program [(null)] - System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'PDFNet.dll' or one of its dependencies.
The specified module could not be found. File name: 'PDFNet.dll'
Everything works fine on local machine. I got the error above whenever I run from Citrix, or log into the server machine and run from there.
Most likely your server is missing the MS VC++ Runtime dependencies. Developer machines usually have them installed as part of a Visual Studio installation, but servers often do not. You can download MS VC++ installers from MSDN.
To find the exact one you need to download please see section 3.2.1 of the Getting Started Guide for PDFNet .Net below. Note you need to also match the runtime 32 or 64 bitness of your process, for both PDFNet.dll and the MS VC++ runtime.

KNIME Command Line Execution - ClassNotFoundException

I'd like to schedule a KNIME workflow. The workflow does its job very good as long as I start it from the KNIME GUI application. When I execute the same workflow via command line, java complains that com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
could not be found (ClassNotFoundException).
I invoke it via:
"D:\Progamme\KNIME\knime.exe" -nosplash -application -consoleLog org.knime.product.KNIME_BATCH_APPLICATION -preferences="absolutepathto\preferences.epf" -workflowDir="absolutepathto\workflow"
Since the error message signals missing content in the java CLASSPATH I also tried to add the parameters
-vmargs -classpath .;"absolutepathto/sqljdbc42.jar"
But still I earn a java slap, pointing to the same error...
I also tried to run the command from within the knime.exe's directory and I also tried to add the JAR file to Preferences -> Java -> Build Path -> Classpath Variable / User Libraries (referenced via the -preference argument). But that had no effect.
Did anybody face the same problems? Maybe with other third party JARs?

Is there maybe a problem due to the fact that it is a shared KNIME instance among several users and the command line execution does not know which workspace has to be chosen? Is the workspace somehow needed and why?
Partial Solution:
I finally managed it but I don't know exactly why it works now. What I did was to load a fresh portable version of KNIME and ran the same commands only changing the executable path to the new portable version. Before that I started the portable version once to set the workspace directory and register the database driver in preferences dialog and .ini file, nothing else, same configuration so far as the shared KNIME instance. What I am really wondering abpout is that from now on the commands are also working with the shared KNIME instance. I really don't know what caused the change that let KNIME find the driver class.

Because I encountered a few more problems within shared environment in KNIME command line mode, that led to undeterministic execution results, I wrote a little .NET library. Grails MS SQLServer 2008 jdbc driver causes problems in tomcat

What is the official way to use the microsoft jdbc driver for mssql in a grails application?
The general opinion that I found through googling is that I only have to drop the jar in the lib directory of the grails app. This works if I do a grails clean and grails compile --refresh-dependencies. But when I deploy on a real server I have two problems.
When redeploying there is this a warning in the logs.

I'm not sure if its something to care about since its a warning. But I would like to have my logs clean and I have the dll in the lib directory of the application just as google is saying. Additionally on redeployment there are several messages like this that might relate to the first one:

And the last thing is that my coworker said, that she thinks the driver should not be installed on a per application basis but directly into tomcat. I actually don't know how to do this, but if I did it, this would cause a problem on the development machine since I don't know how to get grails run-app going without the driver in the applications lib directory.
You can still place the library in the lib folder of your project and just exclude this from the war generation.
You don't need to exclude the jar everytime you build your project, just follow this post tip.
In your Tomcat server the jar will be placed in the shared lib folder instead of each web application.
If after that you still get the warning about sqljdbc_auth.dll you will need to locate this file and add the folder in the Tomcat classpath (or copy to Tomcat lib folder).

ClassNotFoundException with Netbeans and H2 Database

So I followed the tutorial on the H2 Documentation page and used the "Connecting to a Database using JDBC" method of connecting to the database. I First added the h2-*.jar file to the Lib Folder (through Netbeans) and used the following to make the connection to my database I previously created.
Class.forName("org.h2.Driver");
connection = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:h2:~/" + DatabaseName);
This turned out to work in the IDE environment, however when I attempted to run the application directly from the jar executable I get the following error:
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.h2.Driver ...
this error occurs at the Class.forName() class loader. So I did a little looking around and found that this was a prominent problem. One solution people use was to extract the class Loader from the current Thread as so:
Thread t = Thread.currentThread();
ClassLoader cl = t.getContextClassLoader();
cl.getClass().getClassLoader();
Class toRun = cl.loadClass("org.h2.Driver");
Unfortunately this seems to still result in the same error, so i'm wondering what i'm doing wrong. Should I be doing something to make sure the Driver is in the class path? I have no I idea how if that's the case.

You need to add the h2-*.jar file to the classpath when running the application, for example using
java -cp h2*.jar -jar yourApp.jar
