I have SSRS report that has a single data source - SSAS Tabular cube.
The report has 15 parameters that gets their values from the queries (datasets).
When a user opens the report, each parameter is populated, but each query execution is serialized (confirmed by Profiler / Execution Log). Each execution takes up to 70ms. As a result, it takes 1,000-1,200 ms just to open a report.
Is there a way to populate the report parameters in parallel?
Note that
when the report is running (user clicks "View Report"), all charts datasets are being executed in parallel, so SSAS/SSRS is definitely able to execute the queries in parallel.
"Use single transaction when processing the queries" checkbox is not checked for the data source.
SSRS/SSAS versions: 2016, latest SP/CU, Ent & Dev

if I change the data source to SQL Server, the issue persists, SSRS is not executing the queries (for Report Parameters) in parallel.
Could you double check whether the datasets were executed in parallel or not? By default, datasets in a report are executed in parallel no matter they are generated from a single data source or multiple data sources. In your scenario, since the datasets use the same data source, and the “Use single transaction when processing the queries” option is not checked for the data source, the datasets should execute in parallel.

As a part of our overall flow, data will be ingested into Azure blob from Influx DB and SQL DB, the thought process is to use Snowflake queries/SP to load the data from blob to snow flake in a scheduled manner (batch process). The thought process is to use the Tasks to schedule and orchestrate the execution using Snowflake scripting. Few questions,
Dynamic queries can be created and executed based on a config table - Ex: A copy command specifying the exact paths and file to load data from.
As a part of snowflake scripting, per understanding a sequence of steps (queries / SP) stored in a configuration DB can be executed in order along with some control mechanism.
Possibilities for sending email notifications of error records by loading into a table. whether this should be handled outside of snowflake after the data load process by using Azure data factory / logic apps.
Whether the above approach is possible and are there any limitations in using the above manner? Are there any alternate approaches that can be considered for the above.
you can dynamically generate and execute queries with a SP. You can chain activities within an SP's logic or by linked tasks running separate SPs. There is no functionality within Snowflake that will generate emails
I'm having issues with my SSRS reports running slow. Using SQL Profiler, I found out that the queries are running one at a time. I did research and found the suggestion to make sure "Use single transaction when processing the queries" was not clicked in my Data Source. This was already set to off. I am now testing if not only the Data sets won't run in parallel, but the Data Sources also won't run in parallel.
Using SQL Profiler, I'm finding that my single .Net Client Process logs into the first Data Source, sets up properties..

and then runs my SQL statement. After completion, the same ClientProcessID moves onto the next Data Source and does that one.
Has anyone run into this problem before? Are there other issues at play?

Are you running/testing these on the reporting server, or from your development machine? Because, the dataset queries will not run in parallel in BIDS, but they should on the server. (Posted in comments by R. Richards)
I'm new to SSRS and I have a very simple question: I am executing a stored procedure in SSRS and generating some results. Does the SSRS keeps hitting the SP continuously in the backend even when the SQL Server Data tool is closed, as I am seeing SP's query execution in a DMV result.
SSRS calls the Stored Procedure only when instructed to when a report is run. If you request a new rendering of the report, the SP will be called again.
You need to ensure that there are no subscriptions for this report running, or other users commanding requests of the report that you are unaware of (users are logged in the ExecutionLog3 table).
SSRS only run stored procedure/query when we run our report after deployment, other then that no query or stored procedure executes at the back end by its on.
Other than that we have a concepts of subscription in SSRS, which allows us to subscribe SSRS report after a desired time interval (daily, monthly or any other criteria). In this case whenever our report runs after given time interval the corresponding query/stored procedure will be executed.
So I am developing reports in Access 2007 that use pass-through queries to retrieve data from SQL server. Some of the queries can take a second or two to run on the server side. When opening a report, in preview mode, based on one of these queries, the time required to render the report is much longer than the time required to simply run the query. I used SQL Profiler to watch what was happening and found that the underlying query is being executed multiple times (at least five) when the report runs. How can I get Access to cache the query results to increase the performance of these reports?
I'm trying to profile the experience of multiple users of a web application, all trying to generate reports at the same time. The reports are displayed on a web page using the report viewer control. The execution log on the report server seems to indicate that the reports are executed sequentially (one at a time).
Is this the expected behavior?
Is there a way to tweak this behavior? Maybe some configuration file on the report server. Or something in the way the requests for the reports are issued?
I know I can use report caching, and optimize the report execution itself. But I need to address the case where multiple users ask for a "fresh" copy of their report (different for each user), and the report execution takes 30-60 seconds.
Is there any other technique to speed things up?
Can you check you have accidentally checked the User Single Transaction option on the data source.
