Showing modal just before component unmounts in React.js - reactjs

It is a question about strategy you would take. Mu issue concerns showing modal in a right moment, ie. when user uses a form and wants to go out of the form (which is component of course) by clicking any other link visible on the page I would like to show him something like: 'you're about to leave a page, are you sure to do that?' and buttons yes/no below it. So my first approach was to fire modal on componentWillUnmount lifecycle, but is seems that I cannot call it there as it won't accept any logic of deciding to leave or stay on the page (it will quit anyway). Also I cannot set state there and basing on that show modal. Maybe one of you had the issue?

componentWillUnmount will never go backwards, you'll need to use the componentDidMount hook to use the functionality.
You may call an event handler on which you may also redirect to after the user confirms.

React & Canvas: changing state is breaking Canvas functions

I am trying to use a parent component to control animations in a child Canvas element. Specifically I want an animation to happen when a user inputs a correct answer.
It works until the user changes the state in the parent component, and then it no longer works.

My desired behaviour is that the red box bounces when a user clicks submit. That happens if they don't type anything in the input box, but as soon as you enter anything into there - changing state and re-rendering the component - the button no longer triggers the animation in the Canvas child component.
As far as I can tell, the issue is to do with changing the state when inputing text. If I make a version where the input is just assigned to a variable, it works fine, but I need to be able to use state and re-render other parts of it.
I have put a console.log in the jump() function, so I can see that it is being called, but no animation is taking place in the canvas.
I assume that what's happening is that everything is being re-rendered when the state changes, and so the useRef is no longer tracking to the right thing.
Things I've tried:
putting the canvas in a memoized component to prevent it from re-rendering
using eventlisteners to see if I can trigger the animations in other ways - keydown ones work, but I need the user to be able to type, so I tried other ones (like hashchange or audio.play) but neither of those worked.

I like your red box as well as your reasoning. Yes, the input state changing on keystroke is causing the entire App component to re-render. Note that your App.js component has a lot going on (all good stuff), such as your Box class instantiation, your canvas instantiation, etc.
The key is to break your components into smaller parts, particularly separating stateful components from non-stateful components. We don't want your canvas re-mounting on every input change, so we make them sibling components!

Codename One Focus and Removing Components

I have implemented code in focusGained that in some cases may cause the component (a container I have set to be focusable) which just received that focus to be removed from the screen, and replaced in the container by another component. This will also cause a redraw of the screen to show the changed component.
This does work but I have a bit of a problem, in that the next component in the container also gains focus and so my code removes/replaces it also. I assume this is because on the redraw, that component now occupies the same space where the tap originally occurred.
If the last component in the container was originally selected, then the replacement component is itself given focus and so it is removed and replaced.
Any ideas on what I may have miscoded or anything I can do to avoid the second focusGained call?
I doubt you did something wrong. If we remove the component with the focus we'll find the next available one. The replace method doesn't take focus into consideration but can't grant focus to a component that isn't physically here yet so it's granted to the next component. Not much to do here.
You can requstFocus() after the transition completes to fix the order manually.

How can I create custom fields in react-final-form?

I am trying to add a bool property to a form that is toggled on/off depending on the click of button1 or button2.
When I do this codesandbox on my local setup, I get the react setState error but only on the first click.
Warning: Can't call setState on a component that is not yet mounted.
I imagine it is because invoking input.onChange is not expected. What is the best way to accomplish the custom input?
I don't find anything wrong with the downloaded setup from above sandbox on my local.

Angular Retain Proper Scroll Position when Transitioning Routes or Refreshing

I'm using ui-router.
A similar question has been asked on this a Number of times... But the solutions seem to be all over the place and either the question doesn't address a simple idea or the answer doesn't, either.
Here's my simple ui-view setup:
A master view has the navbar and footer
Children of the master view/route that can be activated include the Homepage, About Us page and Learn More page
Pretty simple...
By default, if the homepage is activated, and scrolled down 500px, and I click on a route to the "About Us" page, that page will be scrolled down 500px. Obviously this is not desired.
So... Everyone's solution is some variation of setting document.scrollTop(0) on every state change success. This is atrocious.
While it fixes the issue at hand, it clobbers the browser back button behavior. Here are some problems:
When a refresh is called, the standard browser behavior of refreshing to the current location is ruined
When the back button is clicked, the homepage would then scroll all the way to the top
If the back and forward button were clicked, I wouldn't retain the correct spot on the next page, either
This whole document.scrollTop(0) or any variation of it, really doesn't seem to be viable and I've yet to see a clear solution to this.

Check if click event was fired by touch action

I have a classic dropdown menu on an Angular project with a main link always shown and a tree of sublinks shown only when hovering this one.
I have two events on the parent:
ng-mouseenter="vm.toggleDropdown($event)"
ng-mouseleave="vm.hideDropdowns($event)"
And they work perfectly fine. The main link has a simple:
ng-click="vm.navToState(item.urlState, $event)"
With a $state.go within to go to the string passed as parameter. On mobile devices, ng-mouseenter is being triggered on tap, showing the dropdown menu and this is perfect. The thing is that ng-click is being triggered too so the menu is only visible a fraction of a second before the next state loads. Is there any way to detect if ng-click is being fired by a touch event so I could add an if statement to navToState() and prevent the $state.go()? I understand that this way that main link would be unreachable in mobile but I'll take care of that adding an extra link within the dropdown.
Any other workaround for the same result is fine too.

Could you set a variable based on whether it is a mobile browser and use that as a check navToStart as to whether you state change or not, then have a separate state change function that doesn't care whether it's mobile or not so you can still change states in the mobile browser? That's one idea, but if it doesn't work, could be worth putting some code in your question for a reference.
