I'm working on a webapp with nodejs that syncs data from an ERP sql server database with an e-commerce website. The trouble is that I don't know how to generate the connection between the nodejs app(web) and the sql server, 'cause the way to access to the ERP enviroment is through the remote desktop with the IP and windows user credentials. All the npm modules that I've been testing only allow me to connect without the request of the user and password of the windows server.
I hope someone can help me somehow.
Thank you!
You should configure your remote computer's firewall to allow remote connections SQL's server port. After that you are required to create a user other than root ( since root only works locally ) on your database so you can connect to that one. Then using the npm module 'mysql' you can connect to your database.

Good morning. I have several Django apps running in my work environment. All are running through Gunicorn on Ubuntu. I have a new app that must run on Windows for ODBC reasons. This new app is running in development mode on a Windows 10 PC. I run the dev server while logged in as a service account, it uses a trusted connection (local credentials as I understand) to query a SQL server and works perfectly. I ported this app (virtualenv and all) to a Windows Server 2012 r2 instance and run the dev server successfully from there using my domain admin credentials (again trusted_connection=yes).
I set up IIS on this server to run the app permanently and it appears to run. However, I get a django error page that says the SQL login failed for 'DOMAINNAME\SERVERNAME'.
I have tried editing my Application Pool to use the credentials of the working service account (Advanced Settings > Process Model > Identity). With this configuration I no longer see a Django error page, just Service Unavailable HTTP Error 503. I have tried 'recycling' and restarting the IIS service after the change but that has not worked.
Unfortunately, I do not have admin access to the SQL server to create or edit accounts. Is it possible to configure IIS to connect to SQL, through the app, using the service account credentials that I know work. If I were to configure the Application Pool successfully in this way should I still have the trusted connection setting in my connection string? Thanks!
I have an issue with connecting to my databases via desktop client. I use ssh key to connect to my server via console and I am able to connect to my live server.
But no luck for my database connection. I use TablePlus as my desktop client and I keep getting SSH Error, can't connect to host. That's all I get.
How can I find out what the problem is exactly?
I'm trying to build a webservice that talks to a SQL database hosted on a server in our internal network. The service is hosted by Azure as a Web App. Is there a good way of doing this? Do I have to use Azure Sql databases, and if I do, is there a way to have the Azure database act as a proxy for our internal database?
There are already rules permitting connections to the ports on our database server, so I don't think that's the problem. I see a lot of questions regarding connecting to Azure hosted sql databases, but nothing about connecting Azure web apps to other kinds of databases.
The error occurs when I try to call a stored procedure (via generated entity framework code) and is as follows:
Error occurred: System.Data.Entity.Core.EntityException: The underlying provider failed on Open. ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections.
Our database is configured to allow remote connections, so what I'm guessing the Web App is having difficulty connecting to our vpn.
Please let me know if you need any additional information.
Thanks,
Josh
You can leverage Azure Hybrid Connections which is a feature of App service. Within App Service, Hybrid Connections can be used to access application resources in other networks. It provides access from your app to an application endpoint and uses Azure Relay service to connect to on-premise.
Check out the below link for more details :
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/app-service/app-service-hybrid-connections
First option is to look on azure app service hybrid connection but for you to do that you should have Windows server 2012 or above.
Azure App Service Hybrid
Azure App Service hybrid connection is good if you are pulling small amount of data.
If you are pulling large amount of data or your SQL server version is below server 2012 you have two options:
Azure Site to Site VPN
Azure SQL Data Sync
Azure SQL DB Sync is a feature that available on Azure SQL database. You can create a Azure SQL database on azure and sync your on-premise SQL database or SQL database table to Azure SQL database and you can connect your application to Azure SQL database instead of connecting to on-premise database server. This will increase your performance of your application.
We ended up adding the application to an Azure Virtual network that allowed connections to our on-prem servers. The remaining difficulties were due the wrong port numbers being open.
What was very helpful in debugging this was the Kudu console in Azure, under Advanced tools -> console. There you can run commands from the machine hosting your application like ping, or the below:
sqlcmd -S tcp:servername,1433 -U Username -d databasename -P password -q "SELECT * FROM tablename"
I try to install dotnetnuke 7. I created an user that access to dnn database and in properties of sql server set the server authentication to sqlserver and windows authentication .But when browse website show this message :Connection To The Database Failed
Try connecting to the database using SQL Server Management Studio using the same credentials that you specify in DNN. That might help you identify what you are doing wrong.
You'll want to verify that the SQL Server accepts connections from the web server, assuming that they are not on the same machine.
I have PhpMyAdmin and MySQL running in Windows 8.
I have installed them using Apache friends XAMPP v 3.1, so I didn’t do any configuration myself.
Currently if I go to localhost/phpmyadmin">http://localhost/phpmyadmin, then it automatically shows my local MySQL db and tables.
That I need is connect to remote server(it has MySQL) and runnig locally in my machine , for teh user of one app.
How can I connect to that server from phpmyadmin.
I’ve been trying to find if there any kind of connect panel in phpmyadmin, but no fruit yet.
For rather severe security reasons applicable servers to connect to are not configured at runtime but in the core configuration file config.inc.php. Otherwise a single hacked database account on an edge server could easily expose the entire network for brute force hacking, or tunneling into LAN-only unsecured databases.
