Hi I have created converter to change the behaviour of Treeview control and this is working fine.this is my code behind:
using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.Linq;
using System.Text;
using System.Windows;
using System.Windows.Controls;
using System.Windows.Data;
using System.Windows.Documents;
using System.Windows.Input;
using System.Windows.Media;
using System.Windows.Media.Imaging;
using System.Windows.Navigation;
using System.Windows.Shapes;
namespace DevLake.OrgChart.UI.View
{
/// <summary>
/// Interaction logic for TreeView.xaml
/// </summary>
public partial class TreeView : UserControl
{
public TreeView()
{
InitializeComponent();
}
}
class TreeViewLineConverter : IValueConverter
{
public object Convert(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, System.Globalization.CultureInfo culture)
{
TreeViewItem item = (TreeViewItem)value;
ItemsControl ic = ItemsControl.ItemsControlFromItemContainer(item);
return ic.ItemContainerGenerator.IndexFromContainer(item) == ic.Items.Count - 1;
}
public object ConvertBack(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, System.Globalization.CultureInfo culture)
{
throw new Exception("The method or operation is not implemented.");
}
}
}
But now I want move this code behind in to view model.But I am not able to create the object of TreeViewItem from view model.Please help me how do this in MVVM pattern
my UserControl:

you have an overriden TreeView.ItemContainerStyle. use BasedOn property to apply a base style where lines are defined
<TreeView.ItemContainerStyle>
<Style TargetType="{x:Type TreeViewItem}" BasedOn="{StaticResource {x:Type TreeViewItem}}">
<Setter Property="IsExpanded" Value="True"/>
<Setter Property="IsSelected" Value="{Binding IsSelected}"/>
</Style>
</TreeView.ItemContainerStyle>
I have a small question, I've created a ListBox that only contains 2 items. Each item is a Path control that has a Fill attribute set to Black.
Now, what I'm trying to do is, change the colour of this Fill attribute when you select one of the items in the listbox... I would think this should be done with a Style. But when doing so, the style contains a ContentPresenter that maps to the Path and this ContentPresenter has no Fill attribute to change through the IsSelected trigger!
So in other words, how can I still use a Style that maps the Fill attribute?

I recommend you using MVVM pattern with MVVM Light Toolkit. Then you should create Collection of data that you want to dispaly on the list. In your case it can be Data and Fill (Color). Then you need to handled Click event and that's all. I have code that provides such feature, so If you want it, please ask.
But in your case (without MVVM Light toolkit) I would rather do sth like this:
<Style x:Key="Path" TargetType="{x:Type Path}">
<Style.Triggers>
<DataTrigger Binding="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource, AncestorType={x:Type ListBoxItem}}, Path=IsSelected" Value="True">
<Setter Property="Fill" Value="YouColor"/>
</DataTrigger>
<DataTrigger Binding="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource, AncestorType={x:Type ListBoxItem}}, Path=IsSelected" Value="False">
<Setter Property="Fill" Value="YouAnotherColor"/>
</DataTrigger>
</Style.Triggers>
</Style>
Best regards.

Ok... found the answer myself!
When changing the Fill value inside the Path control to a binding one, all works as expected!
Fill="{Binding Path=Foreground, RelativeSource={RelativeSource AncestorType={x:Type ListBoxItem}}}"
I am trying to create a tab control with a style like Google's kitchen sink example.
When the mouse goes over a tab i want to be able to change its color and when i click that tab its content background color changes to match and the tab changes. However, if you don't click the tab and the mouse moves i want it to go back to its original color. I want the tabs to be different colors.
What i have right now is when i hover over the intro tab content "Content for intro"
that content font changes to red. I had to change it to foreground so i could see that it was working. Keep in mind i am very new to xaml and wpf. I am trying to teach myself and the book i have has a very small section on styles.
Here is Google's kitchen sin example hat i am trying to achieve.

Any help is much appreciated.

This is a bit complex because the background of the selected tab is colourless by default, so you need to override the control template. It is best to modify the default style so you do not need to start over, which in any case is quite verbose:
<ControlTemplate x:Key="TabItemControlTemplate" TargetType="{x:Type TabItem}">
<Grid SnapsToDevicePixels="True">
<Border x:Name="Bd" BorderBrush="White" BorderThickness="1,1,1,0" Padding="{TemplateBinding Padding}">
<Border.Style>
<Style TargetType="{x:Type Border}">
<Setter Property="Background" Value="Gray"/>
<Style.Triggers>
<DataTrigger Binding="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource TemplatedParent}, Path=IsSelected}" Value="True">
<Setter Property="Background" Value="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource TemplatedParent}, Path=Background}" />
</DataTrigger>
<DataTrigger Binding="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource TemplatedParent}, Path=IsMouseOver}" Value="True">
<Setter Property="Background" Value="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource TemplatedParent}, Path=Background}" />
</DataTrigger>
</Style.Triggers>
</Style>
</Border.Style>
<ContentPresenter x:Name="Content" ContentTemplate="{TemplateBinding HeaderTemplate}" Content="{TemplateBinding Header}" ContentStringFormat="{TemplateBinding HeaderStringFormat}" ContentSource="Header" HorizontalAlignment="{Binding HorizontalContentAlignment, RelativeSource={RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorLevel=1, AncestorType={x:Type ItemsControl}}}" RecognizesAccessKey="True" SnapsToDevicePixels="{TemplateBinding SnapsToDevicePixels}" VerticalAlignment="{Binding VerticalContentAlignment, RelativeSource={RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorLevel=1, AncestorType={x:Type ItemsControl}}}"/>
</Border>
</Grid>

<MultiTrigger.Conditions>
<Condition Property="IsSelected" Value="False"/>
<Condition Property="IsMouseOver" Value="True"/>
</MultiTrigger.Conditions>

</Trigger>
</ControlTemplate.Triggers>
</ControlTemplate>
If you want to change the default colour, change the setter on the border which specifies that the background should be grey.
Also to make the content part the same colour as the tab an additional binding in the TabControl is needed. Further this control template needs to be applied to the items, either via an automatic style or direct reference:
<TabControl x:Name="MyControl" Height="200"
Background="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource Self}, Path=SelectedItem.Background}">
<TabItem Header="tab1" Background="Red" Template="{DynamicResource TabItemControlTemplate}"/>
<TabItem Header="tab2" Background="Green" Template="{DynamicResource TabItemControlTemplate}"/>
<TabItem Header="tab3" Background="Blue" Template="{DynamicResource TabItemControlTemplate}"/>
</TabControl>
First tab selected, mouse over last tab:
Usage annotation:
<Window ...>
<Window.Resources>
<ControlTemplate x:Key="TabItemControlTemplate" TargetType="{x:Type TabItem}">
...
</ControlTemplate>
</Window.Resources>
<Grid>
<!-- You can reference the template anywhere inside the visual tree
of the Window if it has been declared in the Resources of the
window, most XML elemnts that are children of the Window element
are inside its visual tree -->
<TabControl ...>
<TabItem Template="{StaticResource TabItemControlTemplate}" .../>
</TabControl>
</Grid>
</Window>
How to hide the expand/collpse sign for leaf nodes in a WPF TreeView?
In other words: how to make leaf nodes automatically expand?
Any way to achive this using XAML?
Thanks,
Similar to other answers, to Expand all nodes you can just use
<TreeView >
<TreeView.ItemContainerStyle>
<Style TargetType="{x:Type TreeViewItem}">
<Setter Property="IsExpanded" Value="True" />
</Style>
</TreeView.ItemContainerStyle>
This will make all TreeViewItems automatically Expand. However, you'll still see the Expand/Collapse ToggleButton. To get rid of that one you'll have to re-template TreeViewItem like this
<TreeView ...
ItemContainerStyle="{StaticResource TreeViewItemExpandedStyle}">
And the Style (pretty much Xaml)
<Style x:Key="TreeViewItemExpandedStyle" TargetType="{x:Type TreeViewItem}">
<Setter Property="Background" Value="Transparent"/>
<Setter Property="IsExpanded" Value="True"/>
<Setter Property="HorizontalContentAlignment" Value="{Binding HorizontalContentAlignment, RelativeSource={RelativeSource AncestorType={x:Type ItemsControl}}}"/>
<Setter Property="VerticalContentAlignment" Value="{Binding VerticalContentAlignment, RelativeSource={RelativeSource AncestorType={x:Type ItemsControl}}}"/>
<Setter Property="Padding" Value="1,0,0,0"/>
<Setter Property="Foreground" Value="{DynamicResource {x:Static SystemColors.ControlTextBrushKey}}"/>
<Setter Property="FocusVisualStyle" Value="{StaticResource TreeViewItemFocusVisual}"/>
<Setter Property="Template">

Bind the TreeViewItems to an ObservableCollection and leave the ObservableCollection empty. That way the expand/collapse sign is not shown since the UI knows there is nothing to expand. Here is the relevant part from some of my code:
XAML:
<TreeView x:Name="TreeView"
ItemsSource="{Binding TopLevelNodes}"
VirtualizingStackPanel.IsVirtualizing="True"
VirtualizingStackPanel.VirtualizationMode="Recycling">
<TreeView.Resources>
<HierarchicalDataTemplate
DataType="{x:Type local:ViewModel}" ItemsSource="{Binding Children}">
ViewModel:
ObservableCollection<ObjectBaseViewModel> _children;
public ObservableCollection<ObjectBaseViewModel> Children
{
get
{
if (_children == null)
_children = new ObservableCollection<ViewModel>();
return _children;
}
}
I don't know about a pure XAML solution but you could bind the IsExpanded property of the TreeviewItem and have this property on your leaf nodes set to true by default (you don't have to have this property at all on other nodes.
<Style TargetType="controls:TreeViewItem">
<Setter Property="IsExpanded" Value="{Binding IsExpanded, Mode=TwoWay}"></Setter>
</Style>
Firstly set IsExpanded to true
<Style x:Key="{x:Type TreeViewItem}"
TargetType="{x:Type TreeViewItem}">
<Setter Property="IsExpanded"
Value="True" />
Then hide the Expander
<Setter Property="Template">
<Setter.Value>
<ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type TreeViewItem}">
<ControlTemplate.Triggers>
<Trigger Property="HasItems"
Value="false">
<Setter TargetName="Expander"
Property="Visibility"
Value="Hidden" />
</Trigger>
<Trigger Property="HasItems"
Value="true">
<Setter TargetName="Expander"
Property="Visibility"
Value="Hidden" />
</Trigger>
</ControlTemplate.Triggers>
</ControlTemplate>
</Setter.Value>
</Setter>
</Style>
A very good reason to use a treeview rather than a datagrid with rowdetails is that the up and down arrow keys traverse from expanded details to header details seamlessly.
