I am using a sandbox developer edition of salesforce. In Setup, when I search "Apex Class" in quick find box, no results were found. Also the File-->New-->Apex Class option is disabled in developer console window. How could I create a Apex class in salesforce. Also My aim is to create a visualforce page, which loads some external data(through api call) in visualforce page in a table format with custom links. How to do that?
It seems that your user has a limited profile on sandbox and has no access to Apex classes and any other developer options. This case you need to ask someone with Admin rights to provide an access to you. I guess that permission Author Apex can help you
Go to Manage users > Profiles > System Permissions

I understand Wagtail is a CMS. Per my test so far, only the admin has permission to publish an article/content. I checked out "puput" and a few others as listed here. I wonder is there a way to allow normal user registration, login, publishing? Something similar to Medium, where the normal user, or say the community, can contribute to the content generation.
I thought there might be a toggle or switch to enable this. But I didn't find it. I'm looking for a way that is either a package or a plugin or similar. Not coding from scratch. Ideally within Wagtail CMS, but other frameworks based on Django should also be fine.
Thanks.
Wagtail provides two user groups:
Editors: user within this group can create page and submit it to moderation
Moderators: user within this group can publish pages that have been submitted to moderation.
To update groups for a given user, go the the django admin interface with admin credentails, usually the url is your-domain/admin
Then go to Users under Authentication and Authorization category
Then get into the user you want to allow posting pages,
Scroll down until Permissions category and moove groups Editors and Moderators from Available groups to Chosen groups as follow:
Then save new settings.
I'm planning to create a website, and the pages contents will be created by both Admin and normal(logged in) users.
Is wagtail admin page supposed to be only for the admin users to create page contents ?
Is it a bad idea to give normal users the admin access with limited permissions to allow them to create their page contents?
If it is a bad idea, is it still possible to use the awesome admin page editor interface for the normal user?
I'm wondering how other people handles the page creation by the normal users in wagtail..
It depends how you're defining "admin user". By the most literal definition, as soon as you give a user access to the Wagtail admin, they're an admin user...
Wagtail is designed to support multiple user roles - through features like the permission system and the "submit for moderation" option, so that you can give people access to edit pages without giving them total control over the site. For example, the Royal College of Art - the site that Wagtail was originally built for - gives students limited-permission accounts on Wagtail so that they can create and submit pages about their work in the RCA Now section, without giving them edit access to the rest of the site.
If you want to give normal user to wagatil admin access than you have to give below permission as mentioned in photo.
You can see this in
wagtail admin > settings > groups > other permissions > check "can access wagtail admin"
And might be clear that you have'nt given Admin Access Role.
I have to work on this task..but I have no idea how to start. I googled it..but did not get the relevant answer.
I have various forms on website. These forms are made using drupal. On the submission of form I have to push the contents in the contacts and activities of salesforce. For eg let's say ABC has downloaded a newsletter. Then ABC will go in contact(of salesforce) and newsletter will go in activity(of salesforce) of ABC in salesforce. Now using the activity I have to create a custom list and import it to mail chimp.
My research :
Drupal to salesforce :
It says drupal has salesforce suite module where you can map drupal entities with salesforce field. And on submission it will automatically go to salesforce.
Salesforce to mailchimp:
Am not sure of this part. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks .
You can use Zapier for this. I believe this zap will do what you want.
If you want to customize the integration you can see a full list of triggers and actions for both mailchimp and salesforce here
Essentially, you can connect any of those triggers on the left to any of the actions on the right. This way you can make your own custom integrations to do whatever you need. You should be able to satisfy this requirement with this.
I'm not 100% sure of the terminology on how to describe what I'm looking to do, so I apologize in advance.
I have a custom entry page for an object in salesforce, and I'm curious as to whether or not it's possible to call an external website when I click the save button.
Rough Example:
User enters in a new Account and hits save.
After saving the Account, The extender class calls to a webpage that inserts an entry into an external database to let a different set of users external to salesforce know that something new has been created.
Again, I apologize. I know I'm not describing this very well. Thank you for any and all input!
Yes, it is possible. Take a look at the Invoking Callouts Using Apex section of the Apex Code Developer's Guide. Salesforce refers to this (your Apex code connecting to another web server) as an HTTP Callout.
Also, take a look at questions with the "callout" tag on the dedicated StackExchange site for Salesforce.com.
Hi i am lagging in this point so kindly let me know, how to create a new apex class in enterprice edittion or how to enable new button for apex class in enterprice eddition.
You cannot create classes directly in enterprise edition, you need to create the classes and their tests in either a sandbox or developer edition account, and then deploy them to the enterprise edition login. See http://wiki.developerforce.com/index.php/App_Logic for more info.
You mean that "new" button in "Setup-> App Setup -> Develop -> Apex classes" menu is disabled for you?
Please go to your Profile page (can be accessed for example by clicking the profile name in "My Personal information") and search on the page for "Author Apex" permission. This checkbox must be ticked if you want to be a developer.
If it's not checked - ask your admin for either ticking it for your profile (will impact all users that have same profile!) or assign a new profile for you.
Once you'll get the class creation from GUI working you can move on to slightly advanced topic of developing with Force.com Eclipse IDE (App Setup->Develop->Tools)
