I have spark installed and I am trying to run zeppelin but just doesn't run.
Error while running Zepplin
I have used this as JAVA_HOME as "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.7.0_55"
Could someone please help me with the installation steps of Zeppelin on Windows10 ?
This is probably due to the fact that your zeppelin folder is located in your root directory. You can either:
Run the cmd window as administrator to start Zeppelin.
Move the Zeppelin folder in the user directory
What would echo %JAVA_HOME% return?
C:\Users\user1>echo %JAVA_HOME%
C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_121
Seems like you have extra quotes around the path to your Java directory.
Two issues here:
1. Spaces in your ENV-VARIABLE : You are getting the issue because of the space in your path.
To resolve it add following lines to your zeppelin-env.cmd
set JAVA="C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.7.0_55"
set JAVA_HOME="%JAVA%"
This should solve your 'not recognized' error.
2a. To troubleshoot zeppelin setup refer my answer here.
2b. To make spark work on both command prompt and zeppelin refer this gist.
Hope this helps!

I'm new to Gatling and I'm trying to use ./gatling.sh to open a simulation script but I'm getting the following error:
There is no simulation script. Please check that your scripts are in
user-files/simulations
I can view multiple scripts within the user-files/simulations directory but still get the error.
Does anyone have any ideas why Gatling is not finding the simulation script?
TLDR
The error doesn't necessarily mean that there are no scripts, but that the gatling was not able to find compiled script.
In details
I was facing a similar error, but it was something like this:
Could not reserve enough space for 1048576KB object heap
There is no simulation script. Please check that your scripts are in user-files/simulations
So I opened the gatling.bat file and changed the parameter of set JAVA_OPTS from -Xmx1G to be -Xmx512M:
set JAVA_OPTS=-server -Xmx512M...
After I did that, the gatling was able to really start running, compiling the files and display:
Choose a simulation number:
[0] computerdatabase.BasicSimulation
[1] computerdatabase.advanced.AdvancedSimulationStep01
[2] computerdatabase.advanced.AdvancedSimulationStep02
[3] computerdatabase.advanced.AdvancedSimulationStep03
[4] computerdatabase.advanced.AdvancedSimulationStep04
[5] computerdatabase.advanced.AdvancedSimulationStep05
Gatling can only run with Jdk8. For windows, you can install multiple JDK as well. After install JDK8, go to your bin/gatling.bat, right click on that and select Edit.
Replace all %JAVA_HOME% with the your JDK8 path.
Example
%JAVA_HOME%\bin\java.exe
to
C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_181\bin\java.exe
Make sure that you have the JAVA_HOME environment variable set.
On a Mac, you can type "env" in Terminal to show all of your environment variables. On Windows, type "set" in cmd to get a list.
You should see something like:
JAVA_HOME=/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.8.0_171.jdk/Contents/Home
You should first check your scala code and remove all the errors from your file/all the files, even if any one of the file has some issues then none of the test is going to get compiled and run.
Please check the package names and the file actually belongs to same package or not. [this was the issue in my case.]
Check indentation, it should not mismatch. [this was also there in my case]
Then you can check replacing JAVA_HOME in gatling.bat or gatling.sh file with the actual path as mentioned by some guys here.
Lastly you can change the JAVA_OPTS like mentioned by some one in above comments.[from -Xmx1G to be -Xmx512M]
This error may be caused by JAVA_HOME wrongly set.
Following Gatling documentation the system needs JDK8 to run:
https://gatling.io/docs/2.3/quickstart
Does not support JDK9 at the moment.
To check if you have JDK8 installed on Mac for example you can do:
# List Java versions installed
/usr/libexec/java_home -V
if you get:
Matching Java Virtual Machines (1):
9.0.4, x86_64: "Java SE 9.0.4" /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk-9.0.4.jdk/Contents/Home
Means that there is only JDK9 installed. Then you have to download and instal JDK8 (in Mac you can have several JDK installed), now the previous command returns:
Matching Java Virtual Machines (2):
9.0.4, x86_64: "Java SE 9.0.4" /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk-9.0.4.jdk/Contents/Home
1.8.0_171, x86_64: "Java SE 8" /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.8.0_171.jdk/Contents/Home
and we can set JAVA_HOME with JDK8:
export JAVA_HOME=$(/usr/libexec/java_home -v 1.8)
After these steps running gatling.sh should not show the error anymore.
Add the next code to logback.xml
<root level="WARN">
<appender-ref ref="CONSOLE" />
</root>
And start gatling.sh
P.S. it's magical
So I need to run a custom server. It worked on other machines, but not on mine (all of them are on Windows).
My input:
nssm start custom-server
Error message:
custom-server: Unexpected status SERVICE_PAUSED in response to START control.
I tried to re-start it, but got the same message.
Use the following instructions to change I/O redirects:
nssm set [SERVICE_NAME] AppStdout [APP_PATH_INSTALL]\logs\service.log
nssm set [SERVICE_NAME] AppStderr [APP_PATH_INSTALL]\logs\service-error.log
Check the service log files to find the failure.
In my case, the failure was caused by a dependency on Python libraries.
As Garric15 states it is probably your install command.
This could be for example a StdOut redirect to a path / file that does not exist on your local machine.
Look in the Application event log for errors where the source is nssm around the time you installed the service.
The reason is because firewall is blocking the software which you are running as a service, start first software separately, it will ask you to add to firewall exclusions , then you can use it via nssm
Some scenario
App directory not provided or doesn't exist
nssm nssm set xyz-service AppDirectory "D:\Work\ShoppingKart"
File which is given for service may be corrupted (rebuild code)
The application trying to run is not proper or corrupted. Try to run without windows service once.
Program (.exe) file path not found (in this case look for the solution, or else give full path, if java not found even if it is there in env, just add full path)
I solved it by using no mws (Managed Windows Service?) release,
ex.
gogs_0.12.10_windows_amd64 works
gogs_0.12.10_windows_amd64_mws not working
The issue for me was there had been a Java update on my machine. The JAVA_HOME environment variable was now pointing to an invalid directory (i.e. the old Java version). Just needed to update the JAVA_HOME path and restart the solr services to fix it.
I was attempting to configure rclone as a windows 10 service. I fixed it including the rclone.conf archive inside the rclone folder.
In my case, the problem was that after the service was installed using nssm.exe, the program name was changed. This caused service to always go to paused state after start or restart the service, using either services.msc or nssm.exe command line.
Editing service nssm.exe startup parameters solved the problem for me.
I'm studying pro angularjs by adam freeman. I've installed deployd v0.8.8 and created sportsstore. When I run 'dpd –p 5500 sportsstore\app.dpd' form command prompt, it shows 'Failed to start MongoDB Make sure 'mongod' are in your $PATH or use dpd --mongod option. Ref: http://docs.deployd.com/docs/basics/cli.html bye'.
I've found all the possible answers as much as I can. But still can't solve it. I'm using Windows 7 32-bit. Please help me.
Try to run like this: http://pastebin.com/raw/apKQb043 (Moved code snippet to pastebin).
Hello you must install mongodb after this add the path of th folder installation into the windows path environment restart your cli and type again the command
from control panel open up advanced system settings. click on environment variables. under system variables select path and click edit. then add the directory for your mongodb installation in my case is "C:\Program Files\MongoDB\Server\3.2\bin". P.S if you use windows 8.1 or an earlier release of windows OS type a ";" first. leave out out the quotation marks.
I need to run Jboss 7 as service.
Followed these steps :-
Copied my Jboss to C:\Program Files <86>
Downloaded Jboss-native-2.0.10-windows-x64-ssl and copied the contenst of bin catalog to %JBOSS_HOME%/bin
Changes done on service.bat as per link instructions
https://community.jboss.org/message/724488
Changed my dir location to my Jboss bin
and given command service.bat install
C:\Program Files \jboss7>bin>service.bat install
Failed installing JBAS50SVC
Access is Denied.
Service JBoss Application Server 7.1.1 installed.
I'm not able to rectify this problem .
It appears to be windows access issue.
Try the following:
Does the windows ID you are using have Administrator privileges? If no, get a Admin ID else if Yes, proceed to step 2.
Try to do the same but in some other drive (not c: )
UPDATE #1 : OP says he can not see the output of service.bat file
Follow the following steps
Open start menu
Search for "cmd"
Right click "cmd" and run as Administrator
type in following command
cd C:\Program Files \jboss7\bin
Type service.bat and observe the output
On a 2008 Windows Server this occurs because you're not running the command line as an administrator. Those of us who have spent considerable amounts of time on 2003 server, and others before that, keep forgetting that your logged in ADMIN level account does NOT get passed to the command line automatically like with previous versions of Windows.
With any additional errors, past this one, I would keep going back to the service.bat file and looking at the path statements, throughout that file, to ensure that they are all correct to reach what is correct for your installation.
Also, don't forget to create a log folder under standalone (unless you're doing a domain install). Failure to do that will also cause issues as well.

I have two MSI installers,BasicInstaller.msi and updateInstaller.msi.As name suggests, the updateInstaller.msi is a updated version(with some new files added) of basic installer.I have installed Basic installer in UI mode where i have mentioned the installation path as "D:/MSIApp".
I am installing the updateInstaller.msi in silent mode using msiexec.cmd(this goes into a bat file) that overwrites the files and registry entries created by BasicInstaller.msi. I am able to install it using the below command
msiexec /i updateInstaller.msi /qn TARGETDIR=D:/MSIApp
Now,i am looking for logic where in the installated path of basicInstaller is picked up and updateInstaller is installed at the same location. In short,i want to avoid TARGERDIR switch hard coding.
If i don't specify TARGETDIR in the msiexec, the updateInstaller is installed at the default "C:/programfiles/..." location.
Could some one help me with the possible solution options.Any help appreciated.
This is usually accomplished by having the installer lay down an InstallPath (or similarly named) registry entry. Subsequent installers can read the entry and use it as their installation path.
See this page for an example.
