How to import shapefiles into greenplum with postgis extension? - postgis

I know that it could be done programatically, but is there any tool that I can use directly? For instance I could import shapefile to postgresql through postgis shapefile loader.

The shp2pgsql tool is the only thing I'm aware of. Are you looking for some sort of UI for this functionality?

Shapefiles: How To Translate

I am interested in writing my own Shapefile translator. It should be able to read the Shapefile and draw the resultant shape.
Does anyone know how to do this? I am not interested in any sort of API or SDK. I will also be using Objective-C to do it.
Also, are there any alternatives to Shapefiles?
UPDATE
As an alternative to Shapefiles, use SVG maps. There are some really great free ones here.
Shapefiles were created by ESRI and are pretty common throughout the GIS world. There's many different ways to store GIS data though, KML, GML, GeoDatabase, Spatialite file, etc.
Here's a link to shapefile specification. It's pretty straightforward.

Visual Database Design Delphi VCL components?

I'm looking for a Delphi VCL component that allows my customers to visually create a database, that is, tables, fields, indexes, etc. Something like this: http://www.devart.com/blogs/dbforge/?p=136#more-136, but available as a third-party component to be embedded into an application. Do you know of something like this? I'm not looking for visual query builders, but database design components.
You could start by looking into ESS Model source code: ess model is a free & open source UML desing and UML reversing tool wich export model data to XMI-format. Once your model generated, you could take it on from there and generate your SQL scripts.

Not sure, but the TDatabaseSchema component in Context Software's Database Extensions component set may be close to what you're looking for:
Context Database Extensions
Or maybe you would want/need to combine it with their end-user "Database Designer" product, which can be registered as the component editor for TDatabaseSchema. ( Database Designer ) The author would be happy to clarify if you asked, I'm sure.

Class Map Generator for Fluent NHibernate

Is there a Class Map generator for Fluent NHibernate? I need something like db2hbm but I want it to generate Fluent Class Maps instead of xml mappings.
I am aware of AutoMapping for Fluent but that is not what I want. I want to be able to generate Class Map files from tables in database and push them to my src repository.
You can do this with NHibernate Mapping Generator.
You can do this with Visual NHibernate. Check the Fluent Nhibernate option on the Options screen to create FNH mapping code.
LLBLGen Pro is a great tool that can do this and much more. It´s not free, but it´s worth every cent.
This is the closest thing I've come across (T4 Templates example to generate Fluent NH mappings):

Does anybody know a good and easy JCR UI management Tool?

I'm importing massive data into a JackRabbit JCR repository. A good UI management tool to visualize the JCR repository would be great to check if the imported data is in a good layout, and also would make my life as developer easier.
I am the creator of the JCR Controller. The webstart version is limited and I will update it soon. The best way is to checkout the sourcecode directly from sourceforge.
It will be also be a good moment to update the Controller.
I can recommend you JCR Controller.
This was previously answered, see Is there a tool to directly edit the contents of a Jackrabbit repository?
BTW, I wouldn't call that "Graphical Tool", as I'd associate that with some sort of drawing or 3D application. It's rather a "management UI", "browser" or "content explorer".

Best ways to convert XPS to PDF (and vice-versa)?

I have XPS documents being generated from XAML User Controls that act as templates. I want to convert the XPS documents into alternative formats, mainly PDF, programmatically with a .NET based API.
What is the best way to do this?
You can also use ABCpdf PDF Component for .NET . Version 7 can serve your purpose.
see http://www.websupergoo.com/abcpdf-12.htm.
it provides fully functional trial version unlike NiXPS and almost equally as fast as NiXPS.
The way I have done this in the past is print my XPS file to a PDF printer. I use cutePDF for this. So when you select to print, you print to cutePDF which prints a PDF version.
I am not sure if this will meet your needs but it has worked well for me in the past.
If you have OneNote, you can print to OneNote and then export as PDF at least in OneNote 2013. This seems better than having to install another third party tool.
After much searching, I found this SDK:
NiXPS
Its kindof expensive but works wonderfully. Goodbye fop!
If you want to do this in your own program, CloudConvert has a free and open source API built on the .NET framework by MadScripter.
