How to Remove DatePicker WaterMark/Unable to Edit Blend Template Copy - wpf

I am following this tutorial on how to remove the watermark text from a WPF DatePicker.
After applying the workaround found here (Note that I am on Blend 2015) I am on step 4:
4. A resource has been created now. Navigate down into the XAML for the resource and find the DatePickerTextBox. Click on it – go to the top Object Menu – Edit Template – Edit a copy.
However, when I try to Edit a copy on the TextBox, the menu is greyed out:

Which is why I applied the above workaround. Although I have no idea what implications this has - all I want to do is get rid of the watermark on the DatePicker!

Well, I can't tell you why you're having trouble copying the template. However I can give you both the templates necessary (which I copied out with Blend 2015 just fine) just follow the two comments;

Changing the popup Calendar size in WPF DatePicker

I've edited my DatePicker template (after right click -> edit copy) and successfully resized the icon and textblock, but can't find an option to change the popup calendar size without resizing the whole DatePicker.
I've seen other answers about using ViewBox around the <Calendar> tag to set the width of the calendar. However, in my template there is a <Popup> - if I use hardcoded width it doesn't show. If I encapsulate the <Popup> in a <Viewbox> it resizes the whole DatePicker (the textblock and button).
What I get right now:
Very small calendar
If I do <ViewBox Width="300"><Popup /></ViewBox>, the whole DatePicker row grows to 327 in width (and button doesn't work).
Setting hard width and height does cut off the calendar, but doesn't grow it (ofc).

How can I change a background below date part and an icon of datepicker button?

Here is how it looks right now:
What I've tried here is to edit templates, on date and template on button also, and I get this code after I followed next steps:
Right click on DatePicker -> Edit Template -> Edit a copy
But I don't know where and what I should change to change an default icon and default background below date part...

The calendar icon is defined in the "MyButtonTemplateDatePicker" ControlTemplate. It's made up by a bunch of Border elements, a Rectangle and a Path.
You change the icon by modifying this template. You may for example replace the Path with your own custom one. Of course this requires you to actually define an Path that displays your custom icon.

How do i edit the watermark for a DatePicker in WPF using Expression Blend

I have created a simple Expression Blend 4 project with a DatePicker. I edited the template for the DatePicker, including its DatePickerTextBox, changing the watermark text from "Select a date" to "dd/mm/yyyy". The resulting XAML in Blend applies a style to the original DatePicker, and this style is stored as a resource in Window.Resources. However the editing done for the watermark text does not take effect. Any ideas? Thanks.
(Please note, i do not want to resort to code, i would like to understand how this can be achieved using Blend.). Here is the XAML for the window:

I came across this question and the answers when I needed to use a different watermark aswell. (In my case an empty watermark.) The code in the accepted answer was so long and complicated that I didn't really consider using it. The shorter answer by Jón Arnar works in some cases but in my case it doesn't. (The date picker is empty when the window is loaded. However as soon as I load a null value into a datepicker control the standard watermark appears again. This got me to take another look at the accepted answer and I shortened it so it just removes the watermark and nothing else (well...). I personally use this in a user control but for a window <Window.Resources> would also work. This element is placed as child element directly after the opening tag of a UserControl or a Window. The key part is <TextBlock Text=""/>. Because I want an empty watermark, I specify an empty string.

Customized Datepicker does not popup calendar

I have customized datepicker style, but for some reason when i click on the datepicker, the calendar does not popup and does not activate the mouseup subroutine.

If you take out named parts (i.e. controls with names that start with "PART_") then you will usually lose some functionality. In your case, the following code is in the OnApplyTemplate of the DatePicker:

You can see that the DatePicker sets the content, if null, and registers a click handler. The latter of which opens the popup.
Now, when OnApplyTemplate is called SelectedDate is probably null, so that's why the DatePicker sets the content of the button. You would need to ensure that the SelectedDate is not null to prevent DatePicker from setting Content.
One way might be use something like {Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource TemplatedParent}, Path=SelectedDate, TargetNullValue="1/1/2011"}, but you may need to use the long syntax:

Silverlight: Problem customizing the DatePicker template

I'm trying to override the default DatePicker template in Silverlight. I want to remove the DatePickerTextBox and replace the content of the "calendar" icon to the right of the DatePickerTextBox with just the Month and Day as the content. Here's where I'm at, there are two ContentPresenter controls each with a different way of trying to bind to the DatePicker's SelectedDate property. But neither works. What am I missing?
