I have a sql query as:
SELECT `entity_type` FROM `field_data_field_project_team_member` WHERE field_project_team_member_uid=30
and i want it to write in a db_select().
How to write it in db_select ??
I go through various tutorials and found drupal formate to write a query for it as:
$sub_qry = db_select('field_data_field_project_team_member', 't');
$sub_qry->fields('t', array('entity_id'));
$sub_qry->where("t.field_project_team_member_uid = 30");
Hope its useful for someone else.

If it's relevant I'm using Django with Django Rest Framework, django-mssql-backend and pyodbc
I am building some read only models of a legacy database using fairly complex queries and Django's MyModel.objects.raw() functionality. Initially I was executing the query as a Select query which was working well, however I received a request to try and do the same thing but with a table-valued function from within the database.
Executing this:
MyModel.objects.raw(select * from dbo.f_mytablefunction)
Gives the error: Invalid object name 'myapp_mymodel'.
Looking deeper into the local variables at time of error it looks like this SQL is generated:
'SELECT [myapp_mymodel].[Field1], '
'[myapp_mymodel].[Field2] FROM '
'[myapp_mymodel] WHERE '
'[myapp_mymodel].[Field1] = %s'
The model itself is mapped properly to the query as executing the equivalent:
MyModel.objects.raw(select * from dbo.mytable)
Returns data as expected, and dbo.f_mytablefunction is defined as:
CREATE FUNCTION dbo.f_mytablefunction
(
#param1 = NULL etc etc
)
RETURNS TABLE
AS
RETURN
(
SELECT
field1, field2 etc etc
FROM
dbo.mytable
)
If anyone has any explanation as to why these two modes of operation are treated substantially differently then I would be very pleased to find out.
Guess you've figured this out by now (see docs):
MyModel.objects.raw('select * from dbo.f_mytablefunction(%s)', [1])
If you'd like to map your table valued function to a model, this gist has a quite thorough approach, though no license is mentioned.
Once you've pointed your model 'objects' to the new TableFunctionManager and added the 'function_args' OrderedDict (see tests in gist), you can query it as follows:
MyModel.objects.all().table_function(param1=1)
For anyone wondering about use cases for table valued functions, try searching for 'your_db_vendor tvf'.
How to write sql procedure to get matching results while searching for string values.It should search by the similarity of the characters entered by user. For instance Ahmmed, Ahmad, Ahmmad or Mohammad, Mohammed, Mohamad etc should display all similar names while executing search.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Well I guess you need AI for that but, you can use the like keyword to do wildcards.
e.g.
$search_string = 'Ahm'; //or Moha
$query = SELECT column FROM tableName WHERE column LIKE '$search_string%'; //starts with the $search_string
or
$query = SELECT column FROM tableName WHERE column LIKE '%$search_string'; //ends with the $search_string
or
$query = SELECT column FROM tableName WHERE column LIKE '%$search_string%'; //starts and/or ends with the $search_string
take note of the %
I'm working on a project that has a search engine. AS we know in MS ACCESS we could use "*" in Queries under Criteria field to retrieve all records.
In SQL Server I need the same technique. I have tried different LIKE with WHERE Clauses. But I still didn't get the exact result I want.
In this project I have 3 textboxes (Category, Item, Location). If the user leaves any of them empty. I want to retrieve all the records.
I need something like this:
string t1,t2,t3;
if(!String.IsNullOrEmpty(txtCategory.Text))
t1=txtCategory.Text;
else
t1="*";
if(!String.IsNullOrEmpty(txtItem.Text))
t2=txtItem.Text;
else
t2="*"
if(!String.IsNullOrEmpty(txtLoc.Text))
t2=txtLoc.Text;
else
t3="*";
-
-
-
// in a function i have this :
SELECT * FROM Table_Items WHERE Category='"+t1+"' AND Item='"+t2+"' AND Location='"+t3+"'"
in ms sql server you can use the same technique but instead of * you should use %.
for examples:
%: means any
a%: all strings that start with a
%z: all strings that end with z
SO, your code should look like something as below:
// codes here
t3="%";
WHERE ColumnName LIKE t3
or
Where ColumnName LIKE '%'
I hope that will help you.
Change your * to the %
... Where Category Like "'+t1+"' and Item Like '"+t2+"' ...
I want to execute query in my yii2 application. I'm using PostgreSQl. There is a table called list inside the user schema. If I try to build any query it returns 1. My code is here:
$numUsers = Yii::$app->db->createCommand('
SELECT COUNT(*) FROM "user"."list"
')->execute();
Please show me my mistake in the query above.
This is not related to the DB type in Yii2 if you want the result of a single value you should use queryScalar() instead of execute()
$numUsers = Yii::$app->db->createCommand('
SELECT COUNT(*) FROM "user"."list" ')->queryScalar();
I use this select query and i am not getting what's the wrong with this.
Select Id,Contact.FirstName,Contact.LastName,Contact.Title,Contact.Department,Contact.Birthdate,
Contact.Phone,Contact.HomePhone,Contact.MobilePhone,Contact.OtherPhone,Contact.Fax,Contact.Email,Contact.MailingStreet,
Contact.MailingCity,Contact.MailingState,Contact.MailingCountry,Contact.MailingPostalCode,Contact.OtherStreet,
Contact.OtherCity,Contact.OtherState,Contact.OtherCountry,Contact.OtherPostalCode,Contact.Description,Contact.Account.Name From Contact where strcmp('%#',Id) = -1",lastcontactId
You need to generate a query that uses =, e.g.
select name from contact where id='005123123123123123'
so, you can use this to generate the query.
NSString *query = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"select name,etc from contact where id='%#'", lastContactId];
Here's the SOQL docs which has more examples.
And if you're trying to do paging, you should just run the entire query and use query/queryMore to page through the results.
