How to email team members within Visual Studio Team Services when they use Microsoft Accounts - azure-active-directory

I am adding a user who has a Hotmail account to Visual Studio Team Services (was Visual Studio Online).
First I added him to Azure Active Directory, then I added him to the Team in Visual Studio Team Services.
When I open a backlog item, and attempt to email it to him using the Team Services "Send Work Items in Email" feature, I get this error:
"Unable to send message to the following recipients: abc#hotmail.com Preferred Email address is not configured within the user’s profile."
Why doesn't it just use the Hotmail address? Looking through VSTS and Azure, I see no place to specify a "Preferred Email address". Google turns up very little, except Robert Noack's post on Microsoft Connect which describes trouble changing the Preferred Email for ADFS accounts.

You need to ask the user to sign in VSTS to configure it. If it is the first time to login, a page will be displayed to ask him configure this. Otherwise, clicking the account name in the up right corner after login and select "My Profile->edit your profile".

How do I access SSRS reports with a new user account when the old windows account has been corrupted

I run SQL Server 2014 locally. My old windows account has been corrupted. I created a new windows account, gave myself sysadmin permissions on SSMS and I can log onto the database fine. I also logged on Reporting Services Configuration Manager and changed the Service Account to the new user account. However I can not access localhost/reportserver on internet explorer. It's saying I don't have sufficient permissions.
Ah I just found the answer. It's a Trusted Site issue:
To Configure Local Report Server and Report Manager Administration
Complete the configuration steps in this section if you are browsing to a local report server and you see errors similar to the following:
User 'Domain[user name]' does not have required permissions. Verify that sufficient permissions have been granted and Windows User Account Control (UAC) restrictions have been addressed.
Trusted Site Settings in the Browser:
Open a browser window with Run as administrator permissions. From the Start menu, click All Programs, right-click Internet Explorer, and select Run as administrator.
Click Allow to continue.
In the URL address, enter the Report Manager URL. For instructions, see Report Manager (SSRS Native Mode) in SQL Server Books Online.
Click Tools.
Click Internet Options.
Click Security.
Click Trusted Sites.
Click Sites.
Add https://[your-server-name]
Clear the check box Require server certification (https:) for all sites in this zone if you are not using HTTPS for the default site.
Click Add.
Click OK.

Visual Studio SSRS data source: Windows authentication - Use this user name and password

I am using Visual Studio 2015 with SSDT to develop reports with Report Services project. I would like to create Shared Data Sources that use "Windows Authentication with a specific user name and password" in this VS SSRS project, (not "Windows Authentication with integrated security", which authenticates as my user account).
The data source is setup the desired way on the report portal already ("Windows with stored USER and PWD"). But I want it configured this way in the Visual Studio project so that all developers can open the project & develop with the data source connections, and also so that deployment of the project files to the server is more accurate. I don't want to have to deploy it with "Windows integrated" then go the portal and manually configure the Shared Datasource-- that is a more error-prone deployment method.
It looks like the "Data Source Properties" screen is very similar for Report Builder and Visual Studio-- except Visual Studio is missing the missing the "Use as Windows credentials" checkbox option.
Does anyone have an answer for this Visual Studio option on the Data Source Property for "Windows Authentication with a specific user name and password"?
****Here are some screenshots:****
VisualStudio-SharedDatasource-Properties.png --> option missing
VisualStudio-Datasource-SQLServer-AuthenticationOptions --> We are not using SQL Server User in our environment, it is Windows user.

Hi #SherlockSpreadsheets,
I can bring you a workaround: Choice "Windows Authentication" and then add the required credentials at Credential Manager with the below steps:
Open Control Panel.
Open User Accounts.
Click Manage My Network Passwords on the Related Tasks panel (on the
left side of the window). You'll get a dialog box listing all of
your stored usernames and passwords. Add another username and
password, or remove the existing ones or change their properties.

ssrs password accessing report builder

After successfully installing SQL Server Express 2012. I am trying to get set up my Report Builder. Unfortunately I am asked for a password when clicking on the Report manager URL or the Web Services URL. It says something like this (connecting to "my_Pc").
As far as I am aware I do not have any password on my PC nor set up one when configuring my SQL Server. Please note that I have not configure SSRS yet and my Service account is still ReportServer$SQLExpress. How do I sort this out please
?
Issue is with how you have created data source for Report.
Data source is created with option "Prompted Credentials" .
It should be created with "Stored Credentials" or "Windows Integrated Security"

At one point you might have configured the user "sa", have you tried using sa login to access the report page? If you are using machine id to authenticate with sql server, to configure a new user, after you connect to your database, browse down to security > logins > right-click and choose "new login".
One easy solution for this is to check the browser you are using . |I was using internet explorer edge and realise that explorer edge was simply not trusting that site. So if you are on explorer just go on setting and trust the site.
However I was on IE edge which does not trust any site. I changed it for google chrome. Everything is running perfectly fine. just change the browser (Internet Explorer best as Google could pose problem to visualize data when creating reports) and refresh everything should be running just fine.

Administrator cannot administer sql server reporting services

I am running SQL Server Reporting Services on SQL Server 2008 Standard and trying to get the web pages to work.
What do I have to do to get RS (Report Manager, Reporting Services Connection), to see me as an admin in the first place so that I can make then change my role and look at the Web Service URL properly?
I have Windows authentication Enabled in II7 and I have anonymous authentication disabled.
I am logged in as a local Administrator (however the pages don't seem to realize that I am an admin).
Through the tables in ReportServer db, I can tell that BUILTIN\Administrators is in there.
I have my local machine in Trusted Sites in Internet Explorer.
Using Chrome instead of IE, I get similar results. I have not tried Firefox.
Most of the help I have found online assumes that you can add your login as an administrator explicitly from the perspective of RS. I cannot figure out how to do that because everyway I try to administer roles I cannot get to work....
At:
http://machine/ReportServer_DEPAHELIX
I get:
Reporting Services Error
The permissions granted to user 'Chris-PC\Chris' are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied) Get Online Help
SQL Server Reporting Services
At:
http://machine/Reports_DEPAHELIX/Pages/Folder.aspx
I see only Home, with Home, My Subscriptions, Help and cannot really do anything. There are no reports there yet because when I try to deploy from BIDS, I get Error 1 The permissions granted to user 'Chris-PC\Chris' are insufficient for performing this operation. 0 0
At:
http://machine/Reports_DEPAHELIX/Pages/SystemSecurity.aspx
I see
You do not have permission to access this page.
And when I connect to Reporing Services through SQL Server Management Studio, I see Jobs, Security and Shared Schedules, and that's it. I can expand Security>Roles and see 5 built in roles, however
when I right click on a Role, the context menu has Properties grayed out.
What do I have to do to get RS to see me as an admin?
Appreciate you have a resolution; if anyone else has this problem; MS have put a step by step guide up on msdn. "Configure a Report Server for Local Administration on Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008"
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb630430.aspx
I have the same exact problem, i am running on Windows 7. I also cannot deploy to the SQL Server, if I am not logged in as Administrator (and not as a users of the Admin group.)
One thing that solved my problem is to start Internet Explorer as Administrator, even if you are logged in as a Admin users. (Right-click and select "Start as an Administrator") Same in Visual Studio in order for you to deploy. It's annoying, but it works...
As stated by John, must be "Administrator", not just a member of Administrators group. Trying to make more users part of BUILTIN\Administrators is not the answer. The answer is to login initially as "Administrator" and then setup Reporting Services related groups for your system or domain then configure the roles associated with those groups using RS tools, and add the appropriate users to the specific new groups.
Found my answer after hours of searching ...
As other users suggest, you need to right-click and choose Run As Administrator. However, on Windows 7 it seems that Internet Explorer by default does not provide current user credentials to Reporting Services. What happens then is that you get a login prompt when you try to access Reporting Services. If you get a login prompt, you need to adjust security settings.
Choose Intenet Options and go to the Security tab. Click on Trusted sites. Either drag the security slider to low security or click on Custom level. If you click on Custom level, go to the User Authentication/Logon option and choose "Automatic logon with current name and password".

Sql Server 2008 does not recognize Windows administrators as database sysadmins. You have to add the Windows administrator group to the Sql sysadmins role.
You can add the group like this:
Open Sql Server Management Studio
Open Security -> Logins, and create a login for the Administrators group
Open Security -> Server Roles, and add the login to the syadmin role
During installation, setup will offer to make the current user a database administrator. If you accept that, the current windows user will be added to the database sysadmin group. If you installed Sql Server as "Administrator", that explains why only the "Administrator" account was able to configure your Reporting server.
If you had installed Sql Server as "YourDomain\YourAccount", that account would have added to the sysadmin role instead. So there's nothing special about "The" administrator.
I have found that the BUILTIN\Administrators account is not treated correctly for permissions within SSRS, if you create a new group Eg SSRS_Administrators and add all your admin users to this group and define SSRS_Administrators as a content manager within report manager all is good.
If you're a local admin, run c:\program files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe as administrator (right-click, run as administrator). This open the SSRS Report Manager and you can do what's needed.

Use Azure VM Sql server database as source for Azure Analysis Services model

is it possible to use a database created in a Azure VM as a data source for model which is created in Azure Analysis Services?
So far, when I specify connection properties for the model in the web designer and test connection, I get an error stating "a connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider SSL Provider, error: 0 - The certificate chain was issued by an authority that is not trusted.)
I can connect to the server via SSMS and via RDP.
I created a self-signed certificate in the azure key vault and was able to make the SQL server use it. However I can't seem to find out how to make use of it when connecting the model.
Does anyone know if it's possible and if so, what should I do to make it work?
In the end I managed to make it work. For anyone with similar problem, I will write my solution below.
For the error "The certificate chain was issued by an authority that is not trusted" - just as discussed in the thread linked by TJB in comment, this was because I did not have a CA signed certificate, but a self-signed one.
A CA signed certificate from Azure would probably solve the issue, but I tried the Let's Encrypt site (also linked in the other thread). The issue I had with Let's Encrypt was that I had a windows server, while they natively support linux-based systems.
However I found an article by Daniel Hutmacher called Encrypting SQL Server connections with Let’s Encrypt certificates which was solving the very issue I had.
(as for the client tool, the current version is different from the one described in the article, but you can still download the old version on github. I used the lastest november 2017 release). With this I was able to generate and add a CA signed certificate to SQL server.
At this point, I created a model in Azure Analytics Services, used Azure Database as type of source/connection and filled in the connection to my VM SQL server. I saw my database tables, but when I tried to query data, I got a new error, stating that the AAS need an On-premise data gateway set up.
The Microsoft docs Install and configure an on-premises data gateway describes how to install on-premise data gateway on the VM, but if you are like me and use personal account for azure, you will have issues binding your account to the gateway. The solution as hinted here is to create a new account in Azure Active Directory (I created a new user and registered it under my azure custom domain, so the login looked like XXX#zzz.onmicrosoft.com). I gave the user admin role, so as to temporarily avoid any azure permission setbacks. Next I added the user to my subscription via Subscriptions -> "My_subscription" -> Access Control (IAM) and assigned an owner role to the AD user.
Now back on my VM I could bind the new user's account to the gateway (don't forget to change the gateway's region to your preferred region before finishing the setup).
Next, on Azure I created an "on-premise data gateway" service (do note you need to select same region as the one which your VM gateway is located under). I am not sure now, if only the new AD user I created could see the gateway, so in case you do not see it, try the AD user as well.
Last but not least, in the Azure Analytics services I went to the "on-premises data gateway" settings and set it to use the one I just created.
With this I was able to create the model and query the data from database.
Note:
In the model web designed for analytics services I happened to be logged in under the AD user, not under my personal account. Attempting to change the account to my personal one ended up in login failure, however after a few such attempts and opening multiple web designers in separated tabs, I correctly logged in under my personal account. After a while I could no longer replicate the issue.
I guess the issue may have been that I was logged in to Azure under both my personal account and the AD user at the same time in same browser when setting eveything up.
