When I try to install Reporing Services on existing instance in SQL Server I receive the following error:
I've tried to do steps described here (http://lokna.no/?p=1180), but it didn't help. How can I solve problem and install Reporting Services successfully?
I don't know why, but uninstalling Avast helped. I've had an instance of SQL Server (Express) installed on a local CPU, working fine, that today suddenly is encountering an error during connection in SSMS to the server.
In following the steps from some discussions about this, in config manager, I see nothing showing for Services.
Discovery report shows this installed.
Any ideas on what I need to do in order to link back again to the server?
I was able to resolve the issue by running the Maintenance-Repair feature with the installation center and then I ran repair for SSMS on top of that. Not sure what happened still and am interested if anyone has any ideas.
I don't know why I am getting this error on my machine while installing SQL Server. I have tried installing 2008, 2012, 2014 versions but getting same error again and again. I have checked control panel to find any files of previous SQL server but nothing is there. Can any one guide me about this error. I have already wasted lot of time to solve this issue. Thanks in advance.

Check whether the installation path is too long or has many spaces.
I have developed a project in Visual Studio 2015 and initially TargetDeploymentVersion was set to 2014.
Later we realized this project also needs to be deployed on SQL Server 2012.
So, we changed TargetDeploymentVersion to 2012, build the project, and deployed .ispac on SQL Server Integration Services 2012. The deployment went well.
Please note, we kept Run64bitRunTime=False.
But during validation I started receiving these component metadata could not be upgraded messages.
Following is a printout of the error:
Please, someone, help with this issue.
Cause:
This is a Component Mismatch Exception.
The reason for this error is that the component was developed with a higher version of SQL Server Integration Services.
The server or workstation on which you are running or opening the SQL Server Integration Services Package contains an older version installed.
Since the downgrade of the component is not allowed, the Upgrade Process is triggered.
Unfortunately, the Upgrade Process was unsuccessful in reaching the goal.
Solution:
To fix this error, it is necessary to change the TargetServerVersion parameter to SQL Server 2012 in the SQL Server Integration Services 2012 project.
Right-click the project in the Solution Explorer and select Properties.
To display the TargetServerVersion option, go to Configuration properties and then General.
Deploy the entire project again, and this error will be resolved.
I hope this solution helps others who have this same error.
I've recently tried to install the latest version of SQL Server Express 2016, but right at the end of the installation I get the following error:
"Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
No extra information seems to be available and the installation of following components show up as failed:
Database Engine Services
Full-Text and Semantic Extractions for Search
R Services
SQL Server Replication
I've tried to uninstall everything and install again several times but I always get the same error. I am using Windows 8.1 Enterprise.
Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance ;)
Do you already have Client Tools installed? If so what is the version? You may need to update the installed version.
I have a Windows 2008 R2 Server 64bit, I have already installed SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 64bit Enterprise Edition, Which is working fine, without any issues.
Now when I am trying to install Reporting Services I get the following error.
I have googled and got nowhere, any ideas why this is happening, obviously the error messages suggests there is something wrong with the installer but Vendor claims its fine and it should work. Am I missing something? any suggestions any pointers in the right direction is much appreciated. Thank you.
