Incorrect syntax near keyword IF dynamic sql - sql-server

I'm currently new to sql server.
I am using stored procedure with the help of visual studio 2010 express.
And i am experimenting on stored procedure in sql server when i found this error, which is very annoying :

Your dynamic DROP table statement in procedure is syntactically wrong.
It should be like this,

Microsoft SQL Server : find & UPDATE exact value in hall database even if it's PRIMARY

I want to change a specific value at unknown table or column. I reached to the code helped me to search it. I found that at some tables, it's the primary column.
I must do this job because I have a lot of values that need to be changed.

How to change existing triggers to be with 'not for replication' in merge replication in SQL Server?

How to make a script that will change all triggers in a database to be NOT FOR REPLICATION? Is there a system procedure for it or we need to parse its definition and inject NOT FOR REPLICATION?

I have the following stored procedure which deletes and inserts rows in a table. It is running slow.
I have read various proposals and i have implemented:
Delete rows in batches and using derived table
Disable FK
Indexes on fields that are in the where clause.
So the way it should go is:
Tables have around 10 million records.
Every day i need to refresh around 15-30% of them. I use this SP to do it.

Since you are deleting rows in batches, you should remove the ORDER BY clause from your subquery because it is not necessary.

Remember that sorting can be an expensive operation, and even more expensive if you remove (correctly in this case) indexes.
Beyond that, there's not much you can do. Also consider that using dynamic SQL, execution plans are not cached. So, every time you execute the command inside #cmd the Query Engine needs to calculate the optimal execution plan. Unfortunately, as far as I can see, you need dynamic SQL.

I have a specific value, let's say string 'comments'. I need to find all instances of this in the database as I need to do an update on the format to change it to (*) Comments.
How can I do this? The database is in SQL Server 2000 format.

You could query the sys.tables database view to get out the names of the tables, and then use this query to build yourself another query to do the update on the back of that. For instance:
select 'select * from '+name from sys.tables
will give you a script that will run a select * against all the tables in the system catalog, you could alter the string in the select clause to do your update, as long as you know the column name is the same on all the tables you wish to update, so your script would look something like:

You could also then predicate on the tables query to only include tables that have a name in a certain format, or are in a subset you want to create the update script for.

Given a number, how do I discover in what table and column it could be found within?
I don't care if it's fast, it just needs to work.
This might help you. - from Narayana Vyas. It searches all columns of all tables in a given database. I have used it before and it works.
This is the Stored Proc from the above link - the only change I made was substituting the temp table for a table variable so you don't have to remember to drop it each time.

If you need to run such search only once then you can probably go with any of the scripts already shown in other answers. But otherwise, I’d recommend using ApexSQL Search for this. It’s a free SSMS addin and it really saved me a lot of time.
Before running any of the scripts you should customize it based on the data type you want to search. If you know you are searching for datetime column then there is no need to search through nvarchar columns. This will speed up all of the queries above.
Based on bnkdev's answer I modified Narayana's Code to search all columns even numeric ones.
It'll run slower, but this version actually finds all matches not just those found in text columns.
I can't thank this guy enough. Saved me days of searching by hand!

By far the best and most universal solution I found is to pipe a dump of the db through to a grep of what you are searching for.
e.g. for Mysql:
mysqldump -pPASSWORD database | grep 'search phrase'
Or if you get too many results, you can then output them to a file:
mysqldump -pPASSWORD database | grep 'search phrase' > results.txt
