I'm using CentOS 7. My ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_XE is properly set. Yet when I try to configure my oracle 11g, I get the following error:
ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
Linux-x86_64 Error: 2: No such file or directory
LRM-00116: syntax error at 'sessions' following '='
ORA-01078: failure in processing system parameters
I'm configuring using /etc/init.d/oracle-xe command.
Please help.
ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe
ORACLE_SID= XE
Below are the steps we should take to ensure the correct installation and Configuration of Oracle XE on CentOS 7
Install libaio1, bc (yum install libaio1 and yum install bc)
Allocate a proper swap space
Set ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID
Check is your IP and hostname is present in /etc/hosts file.
Other than this, https://oracle-base.com/articles/11g/oracle-db-11gr2-installation-on-oracle-linux-7 gives a good checklist but the above 4 MUST be done.
I was facing this issue because Bouncy Castle was not installed

In my current workplace we are using MariaDB version 10.5.9 for our DB's and we are trying to reinstall this version for testing purposes on a separate container. However, seems anything from 10.5.9 below is failing with the follow error;
root#mdb-10-5:~# curl -LsS https://r.mariadb.com/downloads/mariadb_repo_setup | sudo bash -s -- --mariadb-server-version=mariadb-10.5.9
# [info] Checking for script prerequisites.
# [warning] Found existing file at /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mariadb.list. Moving to /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mariadb.list.old_5
# [error] MariaDB Server version 10.5.9 is not working.
# Please verify that the version is correct.
#
# The latest MariaDB Server versions are:
# 10.10.1 10.3.36 10.4.26 10.5.17 10.6.10 10.7.6 10.8.5 10.9.3

# More information on MariaDB releases is available at:

When I try the same command with version 10.5.10, it works and downloads successfully.
I am using the following procedure, one of which is the MariaDB KB:
https://mariadb.com/kb/en/mariadb-package-repository-setup-and-usage/
https://www.dbi-services.com/blog/how-to-install-a-specific-version-of-mariadb/
Both guides use the same repo, and it is also the only thing that I have found specific when I search for information to install this particular version or MariaDB.
Can anyone offer any suggestions or have experienced similar problems?
We (MariaDB corporation) recently moved over our repositories to a content delivery network instead of using our own servers only. Unfortunately the new service does not have a full archive of older releases yet, the oldest 10.5 we have on there for example is 10.5.10.
I have filed an internal bug report / feature request about that already, but it is still pending.
Meanwhile you can "fix" this by first running the repo setup script with a supported version like 10.5.10, and then editing the repository file it created, replacing the version number with 10.5.9, and the host name dlm.mariadb.com with download.mariadb.com.
On Debian and Ubuntu the repository file would be /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mariadb.list, and you'd have to run apt-get update afterwards to pick up the repo change before installing packages.
On RHEL, CentOS, Rocky etc. the file is /etc/yum.repos.d/mariadb.repo and no further action is needed before installing actual packages.
I've just installed SnowSQL for Windows as per the instructions at https://docs.snowflake.com/en/user-guide/snowsql-install-config.html#installing-snowsql-on-microsoft-windows-using-the-installer
However, when I attempt to connect to Snowflake, it fails:
C:\>snowsql -a <account> -u <user> --authenticator externalbrowser -o log_level=DEBUG
No module named 'win32timezone'
If the error message is unclear, enable logging using -o log_level=DEBUG and see the log to find out the cause. Contact support for further help.
Goodbye!
C:\>snowsql -v
Version: 1.2.7
Any ideas appreciated
What version of windows are you using? How did you install?
No module named 'win32timezone'
Per the official documentation snowsql is a python application. The error message above is a python error indicating it cannot find the aforementioned package. However, installing that package is not likely a fix as snowsql appears to ship with a version of python. Which makes a lot of sense, dealing with python dependencies is a nightmare.
I started a Windows 2016 host in AWS and installed snowsql 1.2.7 via the MSI. I was able to get to the login screen without any problems.
I would completely remove snowsql, do a search for snowsql and delete any folders you find, then reinstall. If it's still not working I'd provide more information as requested above.
This was acknowledged as a defect by Snowflake, and they will fix it in a newer version. The workaround is to install v 1.2.5, and invoke this version from the command line
snowflake <options> -v 1.2.5
When I try to install the agent downloaded from (http://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nagiosxi/agents/linux-nrpe-agent.tar.gz) I get a firewalld error. The only solutions I can find is to enable the firewall but I do not want to.
2nd, I tried this command "cat /dev/null > 4-firewall". But the installer also came back with an error "The script that failed was: './A-subcomponents'"
Is there a workaround?

INSTALLATION ERROR!
===================
Installation step failed - exiting.
Check for error messages in the install log (install.log).
If you require assistance in resolving the issue, please include install.log
in your communications with Nagios XI technical support.
The script that failed was: './4-firewall'
In the same folder that contains fullinstall, try creating an empty installed.firewall file by executing:
touch installed.firewall
Then try re-running
./fullinstall
This is based on line 12 of 4-firewall:
# Was this step already completed?
if [ -f installed.firewall ]; then
echo "Firewall rules already configured - skipping."
exit 0
fi
If a file named installed.firewall exists in that directory, the firewall configuration step should get skipped.
Also you can enable firewalld on your server with the following command.
To enable firewalld,
systemctl enable firewalld
To start firewalld
systemctl start firewalld
To check the status of firewalld
systemctl status firewalld
I am new to DB2 and I have installed DB2 9.7.
I created an instance which is shown below
[sathish#oc3855733574 ~]$ db2ilist
sathish
Settings of /etc/services is shown below
DB2_sathish 60000/tcp
DB2_sathish_1 60001/tcp
DB2_sathish_2 60002/tcp
DB2_sathish_END 60003/tcp
DB2_TMINST 50000/tcp
But, when I start using 'db2start' it throws the following error
07/31/2015 10:26:20 0 0 SQL1042C An unexpected system error occurred.
SQL1032N No start database manager command was issued. SQLSTATE=57019
I installed DB2 using 'root' and starting 'DB2' from 'instance' (sathish in this case)
Any help or URL link will be of great use
Thanks
Sathish Kumar
I had a look into db2diag.log file and I got a unusual hack from one of the website
I followed the steps mentioned below and it worked
a) db2trc on -f db2trace.out
b) db2start
c) db2trc off
This problem generally occurs if you have recently changed the password of the account which is the owner of that db2 instance what you need to do is go to services-> properties of the db2 instance -> and then from log on part select local system account
This looks like something is wrong with the installation. There should be some hints on what DB2 ran into in the db2diag.log file (look under ~/sqllib/db2dump/db2diag.log).
What you could do if the db2diag.log does not provide a clue is to verify your installation is correct. DB2 includes a tool for that named "db2val". Here is the link to the documentation of db2val for version 9.7. Just run "db2val" as the instance owner and check the output.
Try
sudo -i -u db2inst1 /database/config/db2inst1/sqllib/adm/db2start

My environment:
Mac Snow Leopard 10.6.8
MySQL Ver 14.14 Distrib 5.5.8, for osx10.6 (i386) using readline 5.1
I was using this version until I tried to install MAMP on top of that. After that I have stoped MySQL server, and now I can't start it again. In terminal it writes me back:
110825 17:09:04 [Warning] Can't create test file /var/lib/mysql/Daniil-Myasnikovs-MacBook-Pro.lower-test
110825 17:09:04 [Warning] Can't create test file /var/lib/mysql/Daniil-Myasnikovs-MacBook-Pro.lower-test
mysqld: Can't change dir to '/var/lib/mysql/' (Errcode: 2)
110825 17:09:04 [ERROR] Aborting
110825 17:09:04 [Note] mysqld: Shutdown complete
If you can give me a hand with this, that would be more than helpful, thank you very much.
Have you checked that the directory /var/lib/mysql does actually exist and corresponds to your data directory?
If it does not, then you probably must specify otherwise the datadir parameter under the mysqld section
[mysqld]
datadir=/var/lib/mysql
