I may be incorrect because the questions are from a long time ago, but it seems that github.io sites do not allow dynamic content. What I mean is I don't think I can post a php or python script to post to a database from a github.io site.
Does this mean there is no way to send registration information to a database from one of these sites?
If there is a way to run scripts that would be helpful as well. Thanks in advance.
what about firebase ? , you can use it as a Realtime data storage, user authentication, static hosting, and more. it has a javascript library that allows you to access to Firebase's authentication and database features from your static site on Github pages.

I have a NextJS site which is statically generated at build (SSG).
There are two things I need to implement next
Google Analytics
GDPR compliant opt-in cookie options
The first one is easy enough to do, however i'm struggling with making this GDPR compliant.
The issue is I don't have access to cookies at server side when my site is statically generated. This means that without knowing whether the user has consented to cookies at the server, I can't serve (or not serve) the analytics script along with the rest of the page.
Possible solutions:
Handle everything at client side - ask for consent, then dynamically add the GA tag to the <head>. However i'm worried this will negatively effect the analytics, or break it altogether. Does anyone know?
Change my site to be server-side rendered (SSR). I'd love to avoid this if possible. I'm really happy with how fast the site is running with SSG. It's essentially just a basic blog so would be a shame to have to convert for the sake of analytics.
Any other ideas?...
If anyone has experience with this, whether they used Next or Nuxt, etc, your input would be greatly appreciated!

Use Google Tag Manager to manage everything, your GA integration and your cookie integration using something like CookieHub for example (How to set up Google Analytics through Google Tag Manager for Next-Js?)
GTM will allow you to trigger the GA script only if the user specified he accepts analytics cookies.
Eitherway you could use Vercel.com built in analytics since your website is using Next.js wich is Vercel's framework.
i'm managing lot of websites, few of those are Joomla.
Last webmaster has gone without giving any help and i've those Joomla DB that i cannot understand which websites are related to.
I mean, on wordpress, i'd see on "option" table to check URL but where i can find this information on Joomla?

Have a look in the configuration.php of each site instead. In them, you can see which database is connected to the specific site.
Joomla by itself does not store the web site URL in this tables or configuration files, and I take that as a merit over Wordpress. The advantage of not storing the URL is that I could simply change web server's configuration when I want to change a site's URL. Everything will appear perfectly, unless for some reason a programmer chose to hard-code the web site URL into his code (which is a very bad practice).
So I suggest look into web server's configuration to get your the document roots and then relate the configuration.php file in there to the databases.
So, no chances.
Only solution i see is to backup and delete DBs one by one, if more than one, and see which website has gone "offline"
I would like to ask how to create an ionic app that talks to Laravel API but still works offline when there's no connection.
Let's say i have to write a quiz mobile app in Ionic and it requests for Laravel API to retrieve the questions as well as store the scores in db.
I'm just starting to learn Ionic and i'm really confused right now on how to approach this.
What confuses me most are:
Does the Ionic source live inside the Laravel source code w/c serves the API?
If i want the Ionic app to be installable, should the Laravel source code be included as well during the compilation process?

Your php or in general server side code is completely independent from your ionic application. If you want your app to work offline you should think about something like fetching a high number of information initially and work with this data without making any additional requests.
However your ionic app does only contain the frontend. You could implement some logic for local storage, but if you want to keep information hidden from the user (e.g. solutions) you have to put that logic on a dedicated server.
In the few details you provided, I can say the Laravel code does not live inside the ionic app. The ionic app is separate from the backend API by Laravel. You are possibly trying for a ReST based architecture where you communicate with your Laravel Server with an API. You need to keep those codes separate.
However without any internet, you won't be able to access those APIs, so you will just be able to show some static data, or you could serve from a DB and show later. For how to use the sqlite db you can look here
In your backend you can have an API like
http://example.com/api/v1/questions/1/
Which will fetch a question with options and if you want the app to have the answer for offline storage you may have that as well. When a user answers, you may check whether you have internet access and send answer and verify if you do, else you may save the answer in your DB and sync when you do have access. You can fetch multiple questions so that a user may answer multiple questions in case he/she will not have internet access.

There are already plenty of solutions for that kind of stuff. As this is a serious security issue, I would recommend to use one of those instead of "reinventing the wheel".
Whether the system is using cookies or localstorage doesn't really matter at the end of the day. It is however a bad idea in general to store the actual credentials. Instead, use a token-based system that will do a server-client handshake on request.
Personally, I am working with Firebase and Express at the moment.
Firebase
Firebase is "backend as a service". They offer a free plan for production usage, have a look at it. If you like it, things are pretty easy here. You pay money and get a full-featured REST-like "backend" with built-in user management (See Firebase doc's for SimpleLogin). All you have to do is calling service methods.
Express
This is the DIY way. If you want to have full-control and a free way of doing things, this is the way to go. I am no Express master, so you better have a look at some Tutorials (http://expressjs-book.com/forums/topic/express-js-sessions-a-detailed-tutorial/)
If you don't like neither Firebase nor Express, have a look at other Backend-as-a-service offers. You could even use PHP. I would assume that one could say that this is the oldschool way of implementing user sessions :)
We want to add tracking statistics to a web application we are building but are pretty unsure of how to go about it. (i.e. clicks, pageviews, unique visits etc)
Does anyone have any articles on the best way to go about incorporating tracking data into an application ? i.e. javascript tracking or IIS etc ?
We want to add tracking in as a ASP.NET MVC module - but we are unsure as to the best way to actually get the data and essentially 'track' this information ?

You can turn on the logging for IIS and then use the SQL Server Report Server Pack for IIS. It comes with many canned reports for your sites stats and then you could take it from there with your own custom reports.
You could also just use log parser to get the stats into a SQL Server DB and then you could use SQL from their to analyse and roll your own app.
Either way, you could modularize this and sell it as an add-on to your customer base.
You could use Piwik, you just need PHP version 5.1.3 or greater and MySQL version 4.1 or greater. As they say in their website, "Piwik aims to be an open source alternative to Google Analytics."

Google analytics is a popular service. You just insert a bit of javascript on every page that contains your sites name and Google tracks the data and provides all the report on a handy web based dashboard.
It's not an ASP.net MVC module like what you mentioned, but it will certain track stats for you and will be a lot simpler to set up than trying to code or integrate anything yourselves.
I'd look at analytics to begin with and only branch out to something more complex if it doesn't meet your requirements.
klabranche provided a holistic answer in terms of using logs of web server. I think using web server log is a a great way to analyse data of your web application.
That being said, depend on your web application and the scope of your analytics, just relay on web server log is not a good way to.
As you may know, web log does not record users behaviors like clicking certain tabs which may not trigger a web server request. Obviously your web log has no idea whether users clicked that tab or not, this may hurt your analyse.
Another you need to know is browser cache, this may create another black hole in your data.

If you want to do a holistic analytics, you need to use two approaches, one is JavaScrip tag, another one is web log. Since both of them have shortages, combining them together will give you a complete picture.
