Can Visual Studio/SSDT 2017 deploy/publish SQL Database project to SQL Server 2014

I was able build & publish databases to SQL Server 2014 using VS/SSDT 2015 but after installing VS/SSDT 2017 i'm not able to publish databases to SQL Server 2014.
I believe below error message is deceiving it has to do with compatibility between Visual Studio/SSDT and SQL Server 2014.
Here is the error message.
Unable to connect to target server. Please verify the connection information such as the server name, login credentials, and firewall rules for the target server.
Login failed for user
Any thoughts & tricks?

"Unable to connect to target server" error occurred while trying to publish sql server project from visual studio 2013

I had an SQL server 2012 database project created in my VS2013. When I try to publish it to SQL Server 2014, it throws "Unable to connect to target server".
I verified the connection setting and the test connection is working fine, it fails only during publish action.
enter image description here
If you have a SQL Database project created using Visual Studio 2013, which you are trying to deploy in SQL Server 2014 instance, you may be receiving an error stating that the data tools are “Unable to connect to target server”:
Most possible reason for this error is You haven't updated/installed "SQL Server Data tools For SQL Server 2014".
Open Visual studio 2013
Select "Tools" -> "Extensions and Updates.." menu.
Select “Updates” -> “Product Updates”
select the “Microsoft SQL Server Update for database tooling” and click the “Update” button.
complete the installation and open your database project in VS2013 and "publish" agian. This time it should work as expected.

Error in uploading .bacpac file from on-premise to azure

I have downloaded ".bacpac" from the resource and i have successfully imported it in "Microsoft SQL Server Studio 2014" using data-tier application. But when i am trying to upload the same file from the "Microsoft SQL Server Studio" to Azure, it's throwing the following error.
It's showing operation failed at "creating database on target". When i am clicking the error link it's showing:
An exception occured while executing a Transact -SQL statement or batch.
(Microsoft.SqlServer.Connectioninfo)
Additional Information
'Web' is not a valid database edition in this version of sql server.(Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 40633)
The Web and Business Azure SQL Database tiers have been retired by Microsoft.
Currently, SQL Server Management Studio 2014 only presents the Web and Business tiers as options when deploying a database to Azure, both of which will be rejected with the "not a valid database edition" message.
The current CTP of SQL Server Management Studio, which can be downloaded from here, does allow you to select the newer Basic/Standard/Premium tiers when deploying a database to Azure, which should work and not produce the error described above.
When you choose the option to deploy the database to Azure in SQL Server Management Studio it will prompt you for deployment settings. e.g. where you would have provided you database credentials. One of the values specified in that window is "Edition of Windows Azure SQL Database" and this may have defaulted to "Web". This could be the reason you are getting the error. Try changing this setting to a more suitable value, e.g. "Standard", and re-deploying the database to Azure.

SQL Server 2008 R2 Management Studio errors

I had SQL Server 2005 installed on my system. Then I installed SQL Server 2008 R2 also.
Now when I open SQL Server 2008 R2 Management Studio I get two messages.
(1) You can import customized user settings from SQL Server 2005 Management Studio. Be aware that some default settings might be changed after you import your customized user settings. Do you want to import your customized user settings from SQL Server 2005 Management Studio
(2)There are SQL Server 2005 Management Studio registered services on this system. Do you want to add them into Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio? Adding The Server registration information has no effect on the servers themselves.
What I should answer to this messages? Yes or No? Please help. I am trying to install Sharepoint Server 2013 Server on my system. But there is an error when I ran Products configuration wizard.
Failed to create sample data. An exception of type
System.Null.Reference Exception was thrown.
Does the error in SQL server Management Studio have anything to do with this error?
1st Sql is warning you that you have prev users that are created in the old sql server 2005 instance.
And asking you if you wish to migrate those users to the new sql 2008 instance.
if you would like to login with the same users that you used to use in the old sql then press yes other wise neglect the dialog and create your new users in the new sql server.

Step 3 :
Now here I get the server name, username and password as well as the database name, but !
When I try connecting to this database using SQL Server Management Studio I just cannot connect to it.
I always get the following error message
TITLE: Connect to Server
Cannot connect to e2f7c78d*********b9.sqlserver.sequelizer.com.

Appharbor uses Sql Server 2008 R2 (Microsoft SQL Server Express Edition with Advanced Services, version 10.50.1600.1). Use Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 2008 R2 version or newer and it should work.
