What is the difference between MuninAlert and NagiosAlert? Does NagiosAlert has more features for Alert and is better than MuninAlert ? If so, kindly explain the NagiosAlert advantages over 'MuninAlert'!

Munin is a networked resource monitoring tool that can help analyze resource trends and "what just happened to kill our performance?" problems. It is designed to be very plug and play. A default installation provides a lot of graphs with almost no work.
Nagios is a monitoring (alerting) tool. Munin could be a replacenment of Cacti. Nagios tell us in real time if something is wrong: like web server down, db load average, etc.
Using munin you can see the trends and the history about why that happenend.
Nagios will alert you (via email or SMS) when something is down and needs attention NOW.
Munin is for resource usage over time, and useful for things like: Varnish is not caching as much since so and so date, what did we change to cause that? Or, we now have increased CPU usage. Why is that? It allows you to compare day, week, month and past year. Nagios does not provide that, just alerts when thresholds are crossed.
But use both..

Anyone cleared Snowflake's SnowPro Certification? I need help with and information about what did you do in order to prepare for this certification. I appreciate your information.
Thank you,
Prashanth.
Snowflake did officially launch the SnowPro Core Certification publicly on Tuesday, October 29th.
To view more information about the SnowPro Core Certification, you can navigate to https://community.snowflake.com/s/snowprocertifications.
No. They dont have transparent process for certification.
First, They have only online proctoring exam, they wont even give option to choose test center on your own.
But when you start the online exam by agreeing to all their conditions (arranging external usb camera, high speed internet etc) they will suspend or stop it by giving some silly reason and tell you to choose test centre by paying $100 more.
Later when you question back they will edit the requirement document itself and tell you are not meeting the requirements. (PFA sample of their requirement change)
Funny thing is they dont even know where is their Server.
It is one of the rubbish process I have seen, Please dont take up this certification and get trapped like me.
Portland OR is mentioned
Phoenix Arizona is mentioned later

I know what is DeadLock and how database generated. My goal is to clarify this issue thoroughly to record.
1- How can i handle deaed locks in sql server? Is there any library or tool to handle theme?
2- In a real time scenario how can i force while my database takes much requests in a short time. For example: i have 8 dedicated server and they are taking
20 000-40 000 per request in one second.
a-> Which is the best Load Balancing tool especially if i want to
escape the dead-locks
b-> Which layer is perfect for load balancing is it should be on
physical-layer or software-layer or both. Of course is both but how is
in your experiences? For example how is netscaler in physically? I
want to know their advantages and disadvantages?
This is a long formatted comment. In some of my ColdFusion applications, I have taken the following approach to handling deadlocks.
put the cfquery tag into a function that returns a ColdFusion query object.
Attempt to call that function using try/catch a maximum of 3 times
Throw an error if still unsucessful
This approach is not limited to ColdFusion. It can be applied to .net, php, java, and even tsql.
Also, it will not eliminate the deadlock problem. It will however, reduce the amount of times it happens.

We've made this monitoring tool at our company.
It's not in our line of business so we might as well opensource the tool, and maybe someone else likes it as well, maybe they'll contribute.
The tool runs on AppEngine, so there are so the are some paths in the appengine configuration, that might be a good idea to keep hidden. Unless someone else wants to start using our appengine qouta.
Is there a best practice for open-sourcing AppEngine applications?
Does anyone have any experience to share regarding opensourcing appengine sites?
You can get some ideas from excellent gae-init. The way its working in order to avoid exposing sensitive information, is moving it in a stand alone project, you can even use gae-init for that ;)
As part of the model is a Config class which holds all the information as it concerns the service and its dependencies. There are some default values there but it can also be easily customized from a web interface called admin. Have a look.

I have a calendar (ie a set of events) that I would like to make publicly available with a technique that allows from as many platforms (windows,ios,android,...) as possible to subscribe/import to this calendar.
I've been reading for a while on solutions for sharing calendars online and I am a bit puzzled:
sometimes you are told that all you need to do is to make an ics file online available; that seems logical to me, but that would mean that anyone adding this link in their calendar software always downloads the entire (large) ics file with all the events?
sometimes I read about CalDav which seemed to me more like an alternative to the blunt download strategy of ics. If I understood well, software able to handle CalDav links can sync in an intelligent way with a calendar server (but is there a lot of end-user software available to handle CalDav links?)
I found very little on the efficiency of making calendars available online, as well from the user point of view (not nice if you need to download the entire ics file on every read) as from the server point of view. Any help or insight in available techniques would be great.

i am currently undergoing the branding of a place that is in the outskirts of a major city. the situation at hand is that the place is unknown and not easy to get around, so my associates and i have planned to develop a gps application with specifics eg safari lodges, conference venues of this area and make it possible for people to download it onto their smartphones (nokia, iphone and black berry) and be able to navigate their way around.
the issue is how much would it cost to develop such an application and run it?
need an answer ASAP. thanks a mil.
The answer to this question could be 1000$, but it could be 100.000$ as well. There are so many details to a project like this that must be taken into account that it is almost impossible to answer your question more precisely.
To give an example - consider details like (but not only):
who will supply the necessary content
does the content need to be updated on a regular basis -> CMS
should the app navigate the user around in turn-by-turn style or should it be more like an interactive map
These three details alone would make a huge difference. So, the best thing you can do is contact a company or a freelance developer, brief him precisely on the matter and see how much it'll cost you.
