How would I access MS SQL Server with ubuntu 14.04. I tried using freetds I failed to understand the process and It was my first time learning sqlmap. I have tried to read for several hours but in vain. Just give me a clue a way to proceed. I have the IP address of the database but I don't know how I can read it.
DbVisualizer (https://www.dbvis.com) should work for you. Its cross platform, fairly easy to use and can connect to almost any kind of database. You'll need the IP address, port, username and password, just create a new connection and provide the connection details. You then can see the tables and run SQL against them (you're gonnna need to learn SQL if you don't know it).
It would help to know what you are trying to migrate. Im assuming the Ubuntu server is where the data is, but you haven't said what platform you are using or what format you are trying to get the data in. Are you just trying to clone the entire database to your local MySQL process?

I download netezza emulator and run it on VMware workstation. Then connect via Dbeaver. When I run
SELECT * FROM TEST1;
I am getting SQL Error [1100] [HY000]: ERROR: System is not 'Online'
how can I solve this error.
Also I cant create new table on emulator when I try to create new table. It doesnt give any error but it also never respons. Dbeaver says execute query and count seconds but no response
Hard to tell, the error message only says that your client (dbeaver) cannot contact the server (Netezza). A couple of guesses:
you forgot to turn your emulator on (you mentioned an emulator???)
you connect to the server using the wrong IP address and/or port number
a firewall is blocking your access (either on you client side, on the server. or between if it’s not an emulator your are using)
Perhaps Try Ping’ing the server from the client and vise versa (a command prompt of some sort). Then get back to us
When you add Netezza emulator to vmware virtualize intel vt-x option is not enabled so it prevents to netezza run properly. You need to enable Virtualize Intel VT-x/EPT or AMD...
Option then reboot netezza vm then netezza will start normally.
if you want to control whether netezza working properly or not you can use
nzstate
command
I am trying to install MediaWiki version 1.31 localy and I have run into some issues that I cant get past by. Mainly when I input datatabe connection (I am trying to connect to PostgreSQL database) information it returns this error.
Thing is the port I am trying to connect is 5433 not 5432, also the names "template1" and "postgres" are not included in my input trough the dialogue screen - I dont know where they came from. "test1" is the name of the database I am trying to connect to.
Any help or advice how to get trough this error would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
That the port you specify is not used while setting up the database schema in the first place is a long-standing known bug. One workaround is to run your database on the default port until you have wiki set up, then change it back to the port you want.
In order to create a new database, you need to connect to an existing database in the same cluster. 'template1' and 'postgres' are pre-existing databases (usually created at the time the cluster was created) commonly used to connect to in order to create a new database. These names are "well-known", you don't need to specify them.
I am locally running an Oracle 11g database. I have a small program connecting to it in code via OLEDB in VC++ (It only runs some database tests, I'm making sure I have all the basics down before I go into the real thing.) The connection information in code only includes the provider, instance name, user name, and password. All this aspect works fine.
//For example, both these ways of connecting work:
result = dataSource.Open(DATABASE_PROVIDER, DATABASE_NAME,
DATABASE_USER_NAME, DATABASE_USER_PASSWORD);
result = dataSource.OpenFromInitializationString(L"Provider=OraOLEDB.OracleDataSource=orcl;User ID=SYSTEM;Password=admin;");
I now want to send this program to other computers in my network and run it from there, connecting to my database on my local machine.
How would I go about connecting the other computers to my database in a way that the code will understand?
I have been trying to connect locally via IP instead of "localhost", figuring I could then simply use the same code and client. In that regard, I have tried a few things without success:
-I have tried modifying the connection string to change "Data Source" to my IP, but it could not connect.
-I have tried adding some parameters from other connection string examples I had seen, but they were not for Oracle and were ignored.
-I have also tried modifying tnsnames.ora and listener.ora to change local host to an IP address, but I know that didn't work, as it would still connect if I entered rubbish.
Anyone has the knowledge to help out?
For an Oracle db, you should set up a new tnsnames entry on their individual machines that points to your local db. Then use that new tns name as the datasource. You'll also need to make sure that your local db instance is accessible to them in the first place. (This is not enabled by default in Oracle Express, by the way.)
I've also generally had more success using msdaora as the data provider instead of OraOLEDB.
I know that connection string questions are a dime-a-dozen, but I've got a new one.
I created a System DSN to talk to an Oracle database that I have locally on my machine. I put in all the info and hit the test button, and it says that it's successful. I'm using the OraDb11g_home1 driver.
When I try to put together a connection string for an application that uses ODBC, of course I can't get it to work.
One of the connection string attributes that they say that they require in their documentation is something called "Provider." What is this?
One of the most recent strings that I've used includes the following.
Driver={Oracle in OraDb11g_home1};Server=\\localhost:1521\local;Uid=mike;Pwd=password
Can anyone please offer any suggestions? Thanks,
mj
I figured it out. I was trying to use an application that was using 32-bit ODBC and the DSNs that I created were 64-bit.
I ultimately want to query an existing MS-Access database (say, contacts.mdb) from a Lazarus program I will write.
It appears that configuring a User DSN is the first step.
In the ODBC DSA, I am stuck at Adding a driver for MS-Access databases. What do I need to download for this?
OK, I'm starting over from scratch. Please bear with me.
I'm now trying to use the Lazarus example given at wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/MS_Access.
Following the Instruction given as "Goto your [Data sources (ODBC)] at the control panel administrative tools..." I run /usr/bin/ODBCConfig and get an error which says "Invalid window handle." Clicking OK closes without anything.
Does this mean I've gotten everything so FUBAR that's it's hopeless?
If your program is written in PHP you can use php5-odbc for access any odbc source, like mssql server or access databases.
This post http://phplens.com/phpeverywhere/node/view/9 illustrate you all the necessary step.
Thsi might be the thing you need
http://www.easysoft.com/products/data_access/odbc-access-driver/
I think it should be enough to put something like the following in ~/.odbc.ini:
[Contacts]
Description = The Contacts Database
Driver = /usr/lib/libmdbodbc.so
Database = /home/dkjmusic/data/contacts.mdb
Of course you need an MDB ODBC driver (e.g. libmdbodbc Install libmdbodbc http://bit.ly/software-small) to be installed
