Is there any way to delay ng-view? - angularjs

I have layout where I have:
<li ng-click="GetLoader();">ACCOUNT</li>
<li ng-click="GetLoader();">SETTINGS</li>
On the index page, I have a menu and ng-view where I can change pages on a click
Also included on the index page is a spinner.
<div class="loading" ng-show="ticketloading" ng-init="GetLoader()">
<div>
<img class="spinner" ng-src="~/Images/ajax-loader.gif" />
</div>
</div>
In my script I have -
$scope.GetLoader = function() {
$scope.ticketloading = true;
loader.css("z-index", "1");
}
My problem is that when a user clicks on "Account" it gets loaded, but just for few milliseconds. Then it changes to all blank. I receive data from ng-view. My question is how can I delay showing ng-view to show the loader a little bit longer.
Thanx in advance!

First of all you should avoid using DOM manipulations in controller. In your case it's better to use declarative ngClass directive to set opacity.
Then your actual issue is that you don't want to use static setTimeout to hide loaded, but rather listen $routeChangeSuccess:
$rootScope.$on('$routeChangeSuccess', function() {
$rootScope.ticketloading = false;
});
and use this loading flag in template like you are currently doing.
You can put above event listener in run block for example.

You can add property in your controller, for example dataLoading and add ng-if attribute to ng-view like this:
layout
<div ng-view ng-if="!dataLoading">
controller
function loadData()
{
var self = this;
self.dataLoading = true;
dataService.loadData(params, function(){
...
self.dataLoading = false;
});
}

Angular Anchor Scroll without Promise

I have am trying to use a very simple scrollTo in Angular 1.x. I have naviagation menu link which when clicked should scroll to a div#id. I can only get this to work with a 'promise'.
For example, this works:
<li>Go to Tracking</li>
$scope.tracking = function() { // go to tracking when header button is clicked
$http.get('/includes/modules/get_home_destinations.php')
.then(function(reply){
if (reply.data) {
$scope.destinations = reply.data;
$location.hash('home-tracking');
}
});
};
But this doesn't respond:
$scope.tracking = function() { // go to tracking when header button is clicked
$location.hash('home-tracking');
};
It's as if a promise is required, but to get this to work on the simple click without the promise?
This is because of href="#" as I guess. Because firstly, href redirects page to "#" then the promise is executed with time delay and redirect back page to the desired location. But without promises, there is no time delay, code is executed immediately and href redirects page to '#' and page stuck there.
Hope this below code will be usefull :
in html file
<div id="home-tracking">
<h1>Home Traking Content</h1>
</div>
<a ng-click="tracking()">Go to Tracking</a>
in controller file
angular.module('trackingApp').controller('TrackingCtrl', function($location, $anchorScroll) {
$scope.tracking = function() {
$location.hash('home-tracking');
$anchorScroll();
}
})

Angular hide dirrective depending on action in another directive

I'm new in angular and i'm looking for the best way to do what I want.
In my main page I have 2 directives, one is used to display a button (and maybe other stuff). And another used to display a kind of dialog box/menu.
Each directive has its own controller.
I want to show or hide the second directive when I click on the button in the first one.
I don't really know what are goods or wrong approaches. Should I use a service injected in both controller and set a variable with ng-show in the second directive? This solution doesn't really hide the directive because I need a div inside the directive to hide its content and isn't too much to use a service only for one boolean?
Should I use a kind of global variable (rootscope?) or inject the first controller inside the second one?
Or maybe use a third controller in my main page (used with a service?) or use only one controller for both directive?
Basically without directive I would probably used only one main controller for my whole page and set a variable.
In fact the first directive is just a kind of button used to display "something", and the second directive just a kind of popup waiting a boolean to be displayed. That's why I finally used a service containing a boolean with a getter and a setter to avoid any interaction beetween both controller.
My both controller use this service, the first one to set the value when we click on the element and the second controller provide just a visibility on the getter for my ng-show.
I don't know if it is the best way to do but I am satisfied for now.
Small example here (without directive but with same logic) :
http://codepen.io/dufaux/pen/dXMrPm
angular.module('myModule', []);
angular.module("myModule")
.controller("ButtonCtrl", buttonCtrl)
.controller("PopUpCtrl", popUpCtrl)
.service("DisplayerService", displayerService);
//ButtonCtrl
buttonCtrl.$inject = ["DisplayerService", "$scope"];
function buttonCtrl(DisplayerService, $scope) {
var vm = this;
vm.display = function(){
DisplayerService.setDisplay(!DisplayerService.getDisplay());
}
}
//PopUpCtrl
popUpCtrl.$inject = ["DisplayerService"];
function popUpCtrl(DisplayerService) {
var vm = this;
vm.displayable = function(){
return DisplayerService.getDisplay();
}
}
//Service
function displayerService(){
var vm = this;
vm.display = false;
vm.setDisplay = function(value){
vm.display = value;
}
vm.getDisplay = function(){
return vm.display;
}
}
--
<body data-ng-app="myModule">
<div data-ng-controller="ButtonCtrl as btnCtrl" >
<button data-ng-click="btnCtrl.display()">
display
</button>
</div>
[...]
<div data-ng-controller="PopUpCtrl as popUpCtrl" >
<div data-ng-show="popUpCtrl.displayable()">
hello world
</div>
</div>
</body>

AngularGrid doesn't load when refresh page

I'm using this AngularGrid system and everything is working so far, except when i refresh the page.
In the doc there is an orientation on how to solve this:
To get the reference of instance you need to define angular-grid-id on the element which you can get back by injecting angularGridInstance to any controller or directive. Using your id you can refresh your layout ex : angularGridInstance.gallery.refresh();
And this is what I did:
html
<ul class="dynamic-grid" angular-grid="pics" angular-grid-id="mypics" grid-width="300" gutter-size="10" refresh-on-img-load="false" >
<li data-ng-repeat="port in Portfolio" class="grid" data-ng-clock>
<img src="{{port.img[0]}}" class="grid-img" />
</li>
</ul>
app.js
.directive('myPortfolio', ['mainFactory','angularGridInstance', function (mainFactory,angularGridInstance) {
return {
restrict: "A",
link: function($scope) {
mainFactory.getPortfolio().then(function(data) {
$scope.refresh = function(){
angularGridInstance.mypics.refresh();
}
$scope.pagedPortfolio = data.data;
})
}
}
}])
But if I refresh the page, it still doesn't work. There is some boxes but without image loaded and it's not inside the grid system. Also, I have no errors in my console. When this happens, I can only see the images again if I change to another page and then go back to my portfolio page.
Any ideas on how to solve this?
I think you don't need angularGridInstance and refresh function here. Just change
refresh-on-img-load="false"
to
refresh-on-img-load="true"
in your view.

AngularJS: Create new controller and scope for dynamic content

Have a template that I'd like to load using ng-include and assign a controller instance to. This new template/scope/controller needs to be loaded in response to a user interaction (hover or click).
The content of the template has to be set using element.innerHTML because the content is set by a 3rd party.
The user can then click out of the new div and I would like to destroy the controller/scope that was created.
Pseudocode for what I want to achieve:
popup.setContent("<div ng-controller='PopupController'><div ng-include=\"views/LayerPopup.html\"></div></div>");
How do I tell angular to process the ng-include and ng-controller just as though the page was being loaded for the first time?
Thanks!
Edit:
Add plunker to illustrate question

Not using ngInclude, but it does fill these criteria:
You pass in a templateURL.
Pass in the name of the controller you would like to use.
Pass in the third party content (which in turn gets set with $element.innerHTML).
Setup a click listener someplace outside the $scope of the popup, which triggers a kill command on the popup.
This is how I imagine you would instantiate it:
<directive tpl="tpl.html"
ctrl="DirectiveController"
third-party-content="{{thirdPartyContent}}">
</directive>
Not sure this will suit you, but I had a fun time putting it together and maybe it'll prove useful to someone else.
In any case, I have to agree with the comments you've recieved so far. It's a bit cryptic as to what you have to work with right now and what possible options are available to you.
Here is a plunker of what you are trying to do. If you click on a button, a popup will show a template, and you can click on the template and it will stay up, but if you click out of it, it will get removed.
HTML
<body ng-controller="MainCtrl" ng-click="closePopup()">
<button ng-click="openPopup($event)" id="clicktarget">Click</button>
<p>Hello {{name}}!</p>
<div ng-include="getPopup()" ng-click="$event.stopPropagation()">
</div>
<script type="text/ng-template" id="theTemplate.html">
<div ng-controller="PopupController">
<div ng-include="'LayerPopup.html'"></div>
</div>
</script>
</body>
JS
angular.module('plunker', [])
.controller('MainCtrl', function($scope, $templateCache) {
$scope.name = 'World';
$scope.popupTmpl = null;
$scope.openPopup = function($event){
$scope.popupTmpl = 'theTemplate.html';
$event.stopPropagation();
};
$scope.getPopup = function(){
return $scope.popupTmpl;
};
$scope.closePopup = function(){
$scope.popupTmpl = null;
};
})
.controller('PopupController', ['$scope', function($scope) {
$scope.aVariableMaybe = 'lulz something';
}]);
On a side note, try to get rid of that JQuery stuff when you are using Angular. Angular can do everything on its own

AngularJS event for when model binding or ng-repeat is complete?

We have a large model and it takes a couple seconds for ng-repeat to bind all the items in the model to the form. We would like to show a spinner while it this is happening. Is there some event that fires when binding is complete so we know when to hide the spinner?
Plunkr: http://plnkr.co/edit/GzzTW4?p=preview
Use ng-show on the spinner If you are using 1.2 use ng-if
<div ng-controller="Ctrl">
<div ng-show="complete">Complete={{complete}}</div>
<div class="thing" ng-repeat="thing in things" my-post-repeat-directive>
thing {{thing}}
</div>
</div>
In your directive use $last to determine if rendering is done and then change the variable that you have the ng-show/ngif defined on.
function Ctrl($scope) {
$scope.complete=false;
$scope.doComplete = function() {
$scope.complete = true;
}
$scope.things = [
'A', 'B', 'C'
];
}
angular.module('myApp', [])
.directive('myPostRepeatDirective', function() {
return function(scope, element, attrs) {
if (scope.$last) {
scope.$eval('doComplete()');
}
};
});
You can watch for $last item compile/link function, and fire a custom event to the scope
In that kind of situations, I use the $timeout service mixed with the $viewContentLoaded event fired by angular ui router (if you use ui router) :
about $timeout :
This service is just a simple decorator for $timeout service that adds a "flush" and "verifyNoPendingTasks" methods.
about $viewContentLoaded
fired once the view is loaded, after the DOM is rendered. The '$scope' of the view emits the event.
My personal usecase is for a paymentForm to dynamically generate its hidden inputs (using HTML data computed serverside that I insert through ng-bind-html) and submit to the payment Gateway :
$scope.$on('$viewContentLoaded', function() {
$timeout(function () {
$scope.paymentForm.submit();
});
});
FYI in the above code example, .submit() is a function from a custom directive used with the form in order to be able to autosubmit the form.

For this I normally create a spinner div in your view with an ng-show="submitting". Then when the data is loaded, you set the $scope.submitting to 'false' show the spinner is hidden.
<!-- In your HTML -->
<div class="spinner" ng-show="submitting">
<div ng-repeat="p in people">
{{p.name}}
</div>
//In Javascript
$scope.submitting = true;
$scope.load_data = function(){
$http.get('/api/route')
.then(function(success){
$scope.submitting = false;
},function(error){
console.log(error);
});
}
I hope that helps
