I want to build my app with custom run script.
After 'activator stage' I get built app, with default run script.
So I need to replace default script with my own.
I need batch file like this:
#echo off
set "name=projectName"
activator clean stage || pause 1
del ".\target\universal\stage\bin\%name%.bat"
exit
But after calling 'activator clean stage' script automatically close, how can I solve this problem?
If you are using Windows then bat:
#echo off
activator clean stage
copy custom.bat c:\target\universal\stage\bin\myproject.bat
Where custom.bat is your bat that will be used for start the project.
But better look at custom configuration of your project

The issue
I am trying to create a batch file that will execute the following two commands:
cd /some/path
dotnet run
that produces the following output:
It starts my localhost server.
Trying To Accomplish
What I would like to do is, put those two commands in a batch file and automatically open Chrome to the server address, HOWEVER, the dotnet command takes some time to finish. So somehow, I would have to keep monitoring localhost to see if it is available.
Any help would be appreciated. Although opening a CMD window, typing those 2 commands, and waiting a minute isn't all that much of a problem, it sure would be nice to just click on a batch file.
Thank you.
You can create a batch file like this code :
#echo off
Set "ApplicationPath=%UserProfile%\source\repos\PruttPos\PruttPosSystem\"
CD /D "%ApplicationPath%"
dotnet run
Start "Chrome" Chrome.exe "http://localhost:5000"
pause
i have a project which is made with grails 2.4.3 version and it needed to be run in command prompt.
I have made a batch file to run all the commands,
now i have to make a build through Jenkins, but when in run that .bat file in Jenkins it gives error:
Error |
Error occurred running Grails CLI: null
but when i run the bat file by double click it runs absolutely fine.
batch file:
call grails clean || exit /b
call grails compile || exit /b
call grails package || exit /b
call grails war || exit /b
Grails 2.4.x is not shipped with Gradle. I would use the grails wrapper (grailsw).
Take a look on the official docs to see more details about the wrapper but essentially you can execute your commands as follows:
./grailsw clean
./grailsw compile
./grailsw package
./grailsw war
Currently I have a batch file that sets all the environment variables needed before starting the build process.
It's a must to use the same bat for setting the env variables.
I tried to use EnvInject Plugin, didn't have any success.
Also tried "Execute Windows batch command" before running msbuild. e.g. start mybat.bat - this didn't seem to work either
How can I integrate the same bat file to set the variables?
Each Jenkins "build step" has it's own environment, I explained this in detail in this answer: Can not change Jenkins String Parameter Variable
If you are using the MSBuild plugin, it is its own build step, so using other build steps to change the environment is futile. If you are launching MSBuild through command line using "Execute Windows batch command", then just ran your bat file within the same build step, preceding the MSBuild command
In the case of MSBuild plugin, the only proper way is to use EnvInject plugin. Maybe you should try to figure out what isn't working for you with EnvInject plugin. From the example documentation, you want to be using "At job level" configuration, to populate your whole job with the variables from your .bat file.
I have an MSI Installer that I created in WIX that i would like to be run from a .bat file, but I need it to be in one MSI file. How would i do that? for example i have a .bat file that does this
MD C:\TEMP\BATS
START /W msiexec /i Installer.msi /l*v C:\TEMP\BATS\INSTALLERLOG.txt
SLEEP 5
DEL C:\TEMP\INSTALLERLOG.txt
RD C:\TEMP
I want to create an .msi or .exe file that contains both the .bat file and the .msi file and will unpackage the two files and run the .bat file. Is this possible? I am doing it just to force Logging that will be displayed to the user through a custom action if the installer fails some how.
It sounds like you are caught by the technical details of the counterparts of your solution. Try to forget what you have for a moment and think of what you actually need.
As far as I can tell from your code snippet, the bat file creates a temporary directory, runs MSI package installation with verbose logging option, and then deletes the generated log file... Sounds a bit of no sense to me...
This is whatI would do in your case:
Get rid of that bat file
Ask yourself what its purpose is. If it is there to modify the target system, then revise this logic and move it to your MSI package following all the best practices you can find. If it has to to some service work, e.g. prepare parameters for the main MSI package, then consider authoring a bootstrapper.
You can try IExpress to generate a single EXE file. Another solution would be to use a self-extracting EXE archive which can launch a specific file when it finishes extracting.
I want to create a batch file to start MySQL server (mysqld) and Rails Thin server (rails s thin). But only MySQL starts, rails s thin doesn't:
#ECHO OFF
cd C:\path\to\app
CMD /C "mysqld --console"
REM exit <-- with or without it
REM cd C:\path\to\app <-- with or without it
CMD /C "rails s thin"
I also tried to create three files for this. The main one runs other two. Doesn't help either, only MySQL runs. And I need to start MySQL before Rails. Rails needs running MySQL. How to write such a batch?
UPD:
How to start 2 programs simultaniously in windows command prompt
use start
e.g.
start notepad.exe
start calc.exe
if you want to run one after another with some tests, you may need to write your own program.
