Access database - Form - database

Simply I would like one form to open on top of another (automatically).I've searched the net and found nothing that helps or works.
In some more details - When opening the database, the system automatically loads up "Form1", which looks very nice in the middle of not only my screen, but others as well, but I would like to hide all the visible sign's of access. Yes I can hide the tool bars etc, but what I was looking for was to create a form "Background", load that automatically and then load up "Form1" on top.
For some reason I can't seem to get form1 to load so it's visible. Yes it loads, but under the background form. I've tried all settings of popup, modal, visible, onload, onopen. I've set the database to open minimized (but that does not hide the fact that it is access).
Please can anyone come up with a solution.

Just to clear things up:
You want a hidden form (background) that loads another form that is visible?
All this needs to be done in a windows form application (c#)?
Is this what you want?
You could try VBA.
This is how a form is loaded.
Private Sub Form1_Load()
OpenForm(FormName, View, FilterName, WhereCondition, DataMode, WindowMode, OpenArgs)
End Sub
I don't have access to ms-Access now, but I believe this should work.
These are parameters you should/can fill in:
FormName, View, FilterName, WhereCondition, DataMode, WindowMode & OpenArgs

Finding empty label in Windows form

I am new to Windows Form application and trying to build a small application.
I had dragged and dropped a label on the main form.
Then I deleted its text property to empty string basically hiding the label.
Now I would like to move this label to some other location on the form but unable to do so because I cannot find it.
I checked the designer file and its there.
But I cannot find it in the form so that I can grab it and move to a different location.
Please help.
Thanks
Use Document Outline. Look at the following images.
That happens to me several times, and a few weeks ago I found a way to get the empty label like this:
On the tab "Properties" just click on the arrow to show all controls and click on the label you want, this will automatically select the label on your form..

Customizing Navigation Buttons' Bar in MS Access Form

I am creating a form in MS Access. My form appears to the user in form of a modal pop-up box. At the bottom of the form we get Navigation Buttons, New Entry (which I have disabled), Filter and Search Options.
I want to customize this Navigation Button Bar. For example, I do not want 'Record' word to appear at the left most position in this bar.
I have been searching ways to do the same. I am not sure if the same can be achieved, but still hopeful.
Thanks in anticipation.
Jay
You can disable Navigation Buttons in form properties, which means the bar does not appear and in Access 2007 and 2010, you can set the Navigation Caption, which means you can have something instead of "Record", but you cannot customize the bar itself.
If you must have custom navigation, disable the bar and add your own navigation options.
You can change the Record into something else, but not customize the other bits of the navigation bar as far as I know.
Will show as:
If you want to go further than that, you may be able to intercept windows messages and change the wording on the fly, but that would complex and certainly a lot of work for not much.
On the other hand you could simply not show the navigation bar and create your own navigation using buttons and a bit of VBA instead.

Trigger when application is not active

I have an application(Winform, TAB based MDI application), now we are adding few features. These Features are developed in WPF. A new form contains Element host, which will host this WPF User control. This newly added Form is displayed in every Tab's one corner. When application minimizes/Maximizes events are trigger, through these I am able to show or hide this new form. Also, this new form's Topmost Property is set true.
But when main form is still showing and when another application(like a note pad) is opened, the newly added form displayed over this notepad. The new form supposed to go behind the notepad, but it is always top.
Any suggestion on how to send it back.
Thank you,
Selected answer from
Detect when application becomes active post solved my problem.
I am also capturing
main.Deactivate += new EventHandler(main_Deactivate);
Thank you.

history and selection model questions

I am trying to build an app using Extjs 4.1. In general: it is a viewport with a tree panel on the west and a center panel that it is actually a tab-holder panel. When a user clicks on a tree node a tab is populating the center view. I had set an attribute in the tree panel that after selecting a node it gets deselected (deselectAll). The reason for this is that the user can open many tabs from different places (e.g. within each tab). But, when I set the above attribute it is producing an error (the “data” is undefined). The data that is undefined is the data related to the tree node. So, the question concerning selection model:
How can I address this problem (a solution may be to select the fist node, but I don’t want it)?
As for the history utility, I need to implement browser back button. Especially I want to disable browser’s refresh button. If user opens let’s say 15 tabs and accidentally click on browser refresh or “F5” he/she will lose everything. I had tried many things but with no luck. I am unable to understand “Ext history util”. So,
Is there any good example out there?
Could anybody guide me on how to do it?
Notice that the application is built respecting the new “MVC” architecture.
Stopping the refresh event is pretty easy - providing that your page has the focus. E.g.:
Ext.getDoc().on('keypress', function(event) {
if (event.getCharCode() == event.F5) {
event.stopEvent();
console.log('you stopped the refresh event');
}
});
If your page doesn't have the focus then there is nothing that can be done -- but most of the time your page loses the focus when a different browser tab is opened so F5 would be refreshing that one instead anyway.
I'm still trying to wrap my wits around the first part of your question, but I thought I would share that.
EDIT
Instead of trying to stop the default browser behavior (something which you can only do on a very limited basis), you should look into state management. ExtJS supports it on many components. Here is the ExtJS example.
Also here is the example of controlling browser history.

WPF menu like control showing when clicking a control ;) How?

I have an application that connects to a server. In the status bar I show the connection status, and on a click I want to open a "menu like" subcontrol over the status showing control where more detailed connection information is shown (like: user name, server name, ping delay, disconnect / reconnect button).
This should basically look like an inverse menu - and when the user clicks outside of that area, the outside click should be suppressed (not triggering anything), but the detail info box should disappear.
I am a little at a loss here - first time I am to do something like that in WPF.
Which control would be advisable as base here? So far I have a custom control for the status bar - but basically it renders as a text box. Note tha the popup is not a menu - it should show a detailed view of the control, so I do not think I can reuse any existing control.
any Hints how to accomplish this?
Thanks in advance.
Two controls to look into:
1. Expander (this could work, but be carefull, it can shift your other controls
2. Button with template. Make a controltemplate for a button that includes a Popup item. This item can then be bound to a set of triggers/events in the button or in the wider form. I hope this helps :)
