Adding PFUsers to a tableView only loads one user? - arrays

I Am Querying a set of PFUsers from Parses backend datebase. I then want to place those users into a TableView, although for some reason it is only loading this first user of the query for some reason. Can somebody help, code:
struct UserMatches {
var finalMatchesName : String
var finalMatchesAge : Int
var finalMatchesLocation : PFGeoPoint
var finalMatchesImage : NSData
}
class Matches: UIViewController, UITableViewDataSource, UITableViewDelegate, UISearchBarDelegate, UISearchDisplayDelegate {
var user = PFUser.currentUser()
var tableView = UITableView()
var userMatches = [UserMatches]()
override func viewDidLoad() {
super.viewDidLoad()
matchedUsers()
createTableView()
}
func createTableView() {
tableView.frame = CGRectMake(0, 10, self.view.frame.width, self.view.frame.height - 10)
tableView.dataSource = self
tableView.delegate = self
tableView.registerClass(UITableViewCell.self, forCellReuseIdentifier: "cell")
}
func tableView(tableView: UITableView, numberOfRowsInSection section: Int) -> Int {
return self.userMatches.count
}
func tableView(tableView: UITableView, cellForRowAtIndexPath indexPath: NSIndexPath) -> UITableViewCell {
let cell = tableView.dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier("cell", forIndexPath: indexPath) as UITableViewCell
let userDetails = self.userMatches[indexPath.row]
//Name
var nameLabel = UILabel(frame: CGRectMake(15, 3, cell.frame.width / 1.2, cell.frame.height / 2))
nameLabel.font = UIFont(name: Font.FuturaBlack, size: 20)
nameLabel.numberOfLines = 1
nameLabel.text = userDetails.finalMatchesName
nameLabel.adjustsFontSizeToFitWidth = true
nameLabel.textAlignment = NSTextAlignment.Left
//Distance
var distanceLabel = UILabel(frame: CGRectMake(15, nameLabel.frame.height + 3, cell.frame.width / 1.2, cell.frame.height / 3))
distanceLabel.font = UIFont(name: Font.FuturaMedium, size: 16)
distanceLabel.numberOfLines = 1
distanceLabel.text = "0.25 Miles Away"
distanceLabel.adjustsFontSizeToFitWidth = true
distanceLabel.textAlignment = NSTextAlignment.Left
//image
var imageView = UIImageView(frame: CGRectMake(cell.frame.origin.x + cell.frame.width - cell.frame.height - 5, 5, cell.frame.height - 10, cell.frame.height - 10))
let image = UIImage(named: "hot.png")
var images = UIImage(data: userDetails.finalMatchesImage)
imageView.image = images
imageView.layer.cornerRadius = imageView.frame.size.width / 2
imageView.clipsToBounds = true
imageView.contentMode = .ScaleAspectFill
cell.addSubview(imageView)
cell.addSubview(distanceLabel)
cell.addSubview(nameLabel)
return cell
}
func matchedUsers() {
//Query Matches
var matchesIdQuery = PFUser.query()
matchesIdQuery.whereKey("objectId", equalTo: user.objectId)
if var result = matchesIdQuery.getFirstObject() {
let matchesId = result["matches"] as [String]
let matchesQuery = PFUser.query()
matchesQuery.whereKey("objectId", containedIn: matchesId)
let finalResult = matchesQuery.findObjects()
if finalResult.count > 0 {
for finalMatches in finalResult {
let matchesImageFile = finalMatches["image"] as PFFile
if let finalMatchesImageFile = matchesImageFile.getData() {
println(finalMatches.count) //Prints 2
self.userMatches = [UserMatches(finalMatchesName: finalMatches.username, finalMatchesAge: finalMatches["age"] as Int, finalMatchesLocation: finalMatches["location"] as PFGeoPoint, finalMatchesImage: finalMatchesImageFile)]
println(self.userMatches.count) //Prints 1
self.tableView.reloadData()
}
}
}
}
}
}
The problem is coming where I am trying to load the UserMatches inside the matchedUsers function, although it is only loading one user, not all of the users I have queried.

It looks like you're assigning a single value to your array in your loop (in matchedUsers()) instead of appending to it.
Try replacing:
self.userMatches = [UserMatches(finalMatchesName: finalMatches.username, finalMatchesAge: finalMatches["age"] as Int, finalMatchesLocation: finalMatches["location"] as PFGeoPoint, finalMatchesImage: finalMatchesImageFile)]
with:
self.userMatches.append(UserMatches(finalMatchesName: finalMatches.username, finalMatchesAge: finalMatches["age"] as Int, finalMatchesLocation: finalMatches["location"] as PFGeoPoint, finalMatchesImage: finalMatchesImageFile))

Duplicating last row of table when new value entered

I have a chat feature within my app. The page loads the existing data as an array called hhmessages. The last message in the conversation was 'Welcome', when I enter new text 'Thank You' and hit enter the table automatically displays 'Welcome' again instead of 'Thank You.' If it exit out of the page and come back it now shows 'Thank You' as the last message. It's working on the backend just the instant update isn't showing the value in the UITableView when entered.
This is for an iPhone app.
UPDATED TO SHOW COMPLETE CODE - Now that reverse has been removed the new entry shows as blank.

the problem is you are inserting the new text at
let indexPath = IndexPath(row: hhmessages.count - 1, section: 0)
which is the last field of the array.
but in your cellForRow: you have
let text = hhmessages.reversed()[indexPath.row]["messagetext"] as! String
which shows the first field of your array in the last cell of tableView.
I think thats your problem.
Like others have told, you are messing up your order in hhmessages.
Imagine you have messages Welcome, Hello, and you are trying to add Thank Your, your code with more comments:
self.hhmessages.insert(messagetext as AnyObject, at: hhmessages.endIndex) // Thank You is inserted to the end of the array at 3rd position (2)
let indexPath = IndexPath(row: hhmessages.count - 1, section: 0) // ok, let's get index of 3rd row (2)
tableView.beginUpdates()
tableView.insertRows(at: [indexPath], with: .automatic) // add new row to the end
tableView.endUpdates()
Then later UIKit asks you to load this new 3rd row at position 2, and you call:
let text = hhmessages.reversed()[indexPath.row]["messagetext"] as! String
The problem is hhmessages.reversed() which reverses your array, and makes Thank you in fact first at position 0, and Welcome the last one at position 2, which will get the text Welcome.
The second problem I see is this line:
let pictureURL = hhmessages[indexPath.row]["uploadpath"] as? String
Here you are getting unreveresed picture url, which at least is very strange.

UICollectionView not displaying all of my array

I currently have a custom UICollection which loads a users video library from their camera roll. Now I am currently able to add all the videos into an array; and it prints out the correct count of videos; however my UICollection is not displaying all of my videos in my library (which amounts to 119). Anyone have any clue why this would be occurring?
Here is my code:
struct Media {
var image:UIImage?
var videoURL:NSURL?
}
var mediaArray = [Media]()
func grabPhotos(){
let imgManager = PHImageManager.default()
let requestOptions = PHImageRequestOptions()
requestOptions.isSynchronous = true
requestOptions.deliveryMode = .highQualityFormat
let fetchOptions = PHFetchOptions()
fetchOptions.sortDescriptors = [NSSortDescriptor(key: "creationDate", ascending: false)]
if let fetchResult : PHFetchResult = PHAsset.fetchAssets(with: .video, options: fetchOptions) {
if fetchResult.count > 0 {
for i in 0..<fetchResult.count{
var mediaItem = Media()
//Used for fetch Image//
imgManager.requestImage(for: fetchResult.object(at: i) as PHAsset , targetSize: CGSize(width: 400, height: 400), contentMode: .aspectFit, options: requestOptions, resultHandler: {
image, error in
let imageOfVideo = image! as UIImage
mediaItem.image = imageOfVideo;
//Used for fetch Video//
imgManager.requestAVAsset(forVideo: fetchResult.object(at: i) as PHAsset, options: PHVideoRequestOptions(), resultHandler: {(avAsset, audioMix, info) -> Void in
if let asset = avAsset as? AVURLAsset {
let videoData = NSURL(string: "\(asset.url)")
let duration : CMTime = asset.duration
let durationInSecond = CMTimeGetSeconds(duration)
print(durationInSecond)
mediaItem.videoURL = videoData!
self.mediaArray.append(mediaItem)
print(self.mediaArray.count)
}
})
})
}
}
else{
//showAllertToImportImage()//A function to show alert
}
}
}
And my cellForItemAt
func collectionView(_ collectionView: UICollectionView, cellForItemAt indexPath: IndexPath) -> UICollectionViewCell
{
let cell = collectionView.dequeueReusableCell(withReuseIdentifier: cellId, for: indexPath) as! VideoSelectionCVCell
cell.uploadedFile.image = mediaArray[indexPath.row].image
return cell
}
& Within my viewWillAppear I have the following creating the UICollection:
let flowLayout = UICollectionViewFlowLayout()
let collectionView = UICollectionView(frame: self.view.bounds, collectionViewLayout: flowLayout)
collectionView.register(VideoSelectionCVCell.self, forCellWithReuseIdentifier: cellId)
collectionView.delegate = self
collectionView.dataSource = self
collectionView.backgroundColor = UIColor.clear
self.view.addSubview(collectionView)
I think what is occurring is the screen is loading before the grabPhotos() occurs; and the grabPhotos() doesn't finish until the after the screen is loaded. I also have my UICollection being created in the viewWillAppear, so that would make it a private occurrence (if I'm correct). So I guess to fix this, I would need to make the UICollectionView public, but how would I do that if I am doing it programmatically + creating it in my View Will Appear?
There are a couple different ways you can solve this I think.
Move your remote image loading into cellforitemat
Add your collection view in Viewdidload, then at the end of the function call grabphotos.
In your grabphotos functions, call collectionView.reloadData() after you have the fetchResult.
Move imgManager.requestImage into cellforitem. This way you are only loading each image as the cells are rendered. The user isn't waiting for all the images to load before the collectionView is updated. You can add a prefetch if you are concerned about performance.
Use a DispatchGroup
If you really really want to load all the images before updating the collectionView, you can create a DispatchGroup to track the image downloads and then update the collectionView after it's all done.
struct Media {
var image:UIImage?
var videoURL:NSURL?
}
var mediaArray = [Media]()
let loadContentGroup = DispatchGroup()
func grabPhotos(){
loadContentGroup.notify(queue: DispatchQueue.main) { [weak self] in
guard let `self` = self else { return }
self.collectionView.reloadData()
}
let imgManager = PHImageManager.default()
let requestOptions = PHImageRequestOptions()
requestOptions.isSynchronous = true
requestOptions.deliveryMode = .highQualityFormat
let fetchOptions = PHFetchOptions()
fetchOptions.sortDescriptors = [NSSortDescriptor(key: "creationDate", ascending: false)]
if let fetchResult : PHFetchResult = PHAsset.fetchAssets(with: .video, options: fetchOptions) {
if fetchResult.count > 0 {
for i in 0..<fetchResult.count{
var mediaItem = Media()
loadContentGroup.enter()
//Used for fetch Image//
imgManager.requestImage(for: fetchResult.object(at: i) as PHAsset , targetSize: CGSize(width: 400, height: 400), contentMode: .aspectFit, options: requestOptions, resultHandler: {
image, error in
let imageOfVideo = image! as UIImage
mediaItem.image = imageOfVideo;
//Used for fetch Video//
imgManager.requestAVAsset(forVideo: fetchResult.object(at: i) as PHAsset, options: PHVideoRequestOptions(), resultHandler: {(avAsset, audioMix, info) -> Void in
if let asset = avAsset as? AVURLAsset {
let videoData = NSURL(string: "\(asset.url)")
let duration : CMTime = asset.duration
let durationInSecond = CMTimeGetSeconds(duration)
print(durationInSecond)
mediaItem.videoURL = videoData!
self.mediaArray.append(mediaItem)
print(self.mediaArray.count)
self.loadContentGroup.leave()
}
})
})
}
}
else{
//showAllertToImportImage()//A function to show alert
}
}
}

Swift 3: Remove specific string from array without knowing the indexPath?

I have a UICollectionView that has a bunch of cells. When I select these cells, they change color to look as if they have clearly been selected and I append that hashtag.hashtag_name (String) to my hashtagsArray. If I tap a category (fashion, food, hobbies or music), I append another array to that index path to give the user the cells for that specific category as you can see in my image example below.
What I would like is if I tap a already SELECTED cell to UNSELECT it, for that hashtag.hashtag_name to be removed from my hashtagArray. The issue is that the indexPath for the array that I add in is completely different to the array indexPath when I append it into the hashtagArray so I cannot remove it by calling self.hashtagArray.remove(Int). Here's my code...
import UIKit
class Hashtag: NSObject {
var hashtag_name: String?
var hashtag_color: String?
}
import UIKit
private let reuseIdentifier = "Cell"
class HashtagView: UICollectionViewController, UICollectionViewDelegateFlowLayout {
var hashtagArray: [String] = []
var categoriesArray = [Hashtag]()
var fashionArray = [Hashtag]()
var isFashionSelected: Bool = false
var fashionArrayCount: [Int] = []
override func viewDidLoad() {
super.viewDidLoad()
self.navigationController?.navigationBar.tintColor = .white
navigationItem.title = "Hashtag"
self.collectionView?.backgroundColor = .white
self.collectionView?.register(HashtagCell.self, forCellWithReuseIdentifier: reuseIdentifier)
self.collectionView?.contentInset = UIEdgeInsetsMake(10, 0, 0, 0)
handleFetchCategories()
handleFetchFashionHashtags()
}
func insertCategoryAtIndexPath(element: [Hashtag], index: Int) {
categoriesArray.insert(contentsOf: element, at: index)
}
override func collectionView(_ collectionView: UICollectionView, didSelectItemAt indexPath: IndexPath) {
let cell = self.collectionView?.cellForItem(at: indexPath) as! HashtagCell
let hashtag = categoriesArray[indexPath.item]
if hashtag.hashtag_name == "FASHION" && isFashionSelected == false {
self.isFashionSelected = true
self.insertCategoryAtIndexPath(element: self.fashionArray, index: indexPath.item + 1)
self.collectionView?.reloadData()
} else if hashtag.hashtag_name == "FASHION" && isFashionSelected == true {
self.isFashionSelected = false
self.categoriesArray.remove(at: self.fashionArrayCount)
self.collectionView?.reloadData()
}
if hashtag.hashtag_name != "FASHION" && hashtag.hashtag_name != "FOOD" && hashtag.hashtag_name != "HOBBIES" && hashtag.hashtag_name != "MUSIC" {
if cell.isCellSelected == false {
cell.isCellSelected = true
if self.hashtagArray.contains(hashtag.hashtag_name!) {
cell.backgroundColor = .white
cell.hashtagLabel.textColor = greenColor
cell.layer.borderColor = greenColor.cgColor
} else {
self.hashtagArray.append(hashtag.hashtag_name!)
}
cell.backgroundColor = .white
cell.hashtagLabel.textColor = greenColor
cell.layer.borderColor = greenColor.cgColor
} else if cell.isCellSelected == true {
cell.isCellSelected = false
// REMOVE UNSELECTED CELL FROM ARRAY.
cell.backgroundColor = greenColor
cell.hashtagLabel.textColor = .white
cell.layer.borderColor = greenColor.cgColor
}
}
}
You can use the index(of: ) method on the array to get the index
if let index = hashtagArray.index(of: "SOMESTRING") {
hashtagArray.remove(at: index)
}
myArray = ["One","Two","Three","Four"]
myArray = myArray.filter{$0 != "Three"}
This will remove the "Three" from myArray. Also look at the following link too:
https://stackoverflow.com/a/44358108/8048468
You could use Array's index(of:) function to get the index of a known element and then remove it using remove(at:).
You could use filter(_:) to create a new array excluding elements which match some check.
You could look at similar questions and write your own extension method to remove an object by value as in Array extension to remove object by value

Pass an arrays row shown in an NSTableView to another array in Swift

I have 2 arrays
var messages = [Message]()
var screenMessages = [screenMessage]()
I have the messages array items in a NSTableView.. when I press an IBOutlet I would like to pass the items in that row to the screenMessages array to present in another NSTableView.
My NSTableView starts like so..
func tableView(tableView: NSTableView, viewForTableColumn tableColumn: NSTableColumn?, row: Int) -> NSView? {
let result = tableView.makeViewWithIdentifier("cell", owner: self) as? secondviewTableCell
let mess = messages[row]
I've tried a number of ways of appending the screenMessages with the messages[row] but I can't put my finger on it. If anyone could demonstrate or point me in the right direction that would be brilliant.
Thank you.
Added more detail:
Screen one looks like so and when pressing the add button it should then pass that data from that row into screen twos tableview..
Screen two:
My View for screen one is as:

var screenMessages = [screenMessage]()

var messagesRef: Firebase!

I have tried a number of things such as 'screenMessages += messages(row)' and appending to add that row to the screenMessages array but I've had no luck.
Am I going about this in the right way or is there a better way of doing so?
Thank you.
To append an element from one array to another array just write
let index = index of element you need
let message = messages[index]
screenMessages.append(message)
If message is not the same type as the contents of the screenMessages array you will need to convert it, I would need more details of the types to help with that.
If you are having trouble passing the data to another ViewController I would need more information on the current architecture to give good advice, but for example you might define a protocol MessageDelegate that one of the controllers implements and the other has as a property.
update
If you update your data array for a table and want the new information to appear remember to call reloadData on the UITableView

Getting error after initialising json api in swift

I got everything working so far. When building the project and running the function it parses the api content and then crashes.
