I watch tutorial and performs those steps , one of those tutorial's steps to double click WMAppManifiest.xml to change the icon of Windows Phone Apps but When I double Click On this it gives following error
package 'manifest designer package' failed to load
and Also AppManifest.xml is not loading and it gives this error
Visual Studio has encounterd an unexpected error
i have uninstalled all and re-install al of this including sdk and vs2012 but still it gives error not in one project but each time I tried to goto NewProject and select windows phone App and without doing anything I tried to open those files but it gives error
Please Help me ....

NOTE: I was working on a Apache Cordova app in VS 2013. Try this it might help
I had a similar problem, but in my case it was to remove the text on the tile as it was too long for the tile. Each time I made a change to the platforms/wp8/Properties/WMAppManifest.xml it was overwritten each time when I Rebuilt the app.
I followed the below guide:
Place the custom WMAppManifest.xml file in the res/native/wp8/Properties folder. Use the generated version of the file in the platforms/wp8/Properties folder after building a Debug configuration of the project for Windows Phone 8.

Why does my Windows Application Packaging project think my solution is a net 6 solution?

My solution is a net 5 solution. I've been through all of the nuget packages to make sure they are all 'net5' compatible and checked that all the .csproj target frameworks do indeed say net5.0 yet when I go to package my application (MyProj.Installer - Windows packaging application) it shows me a warning:
Warning NU1702 ProjectReference 'C:\Users\rich-\source\repos\MyProjGit\MyProj\MyProj.csproj' was resolved using '.NETCoreApp,Version=v6.0' instead of the project target framework '.NETFramework,Version=v4.5.1'. This project may not be fully compatible with your project. MyProj.Installer C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2019\Enterprise\MSBuild\Current\Bin\Microsoft.Common.CurrentVersion.targets 1718
I have no idea where it is getting .NETFramework,Version=v4.5.1 from as the oldest version my project has ever been is 4.7.2 but more to the point it thinks it is a net6 application when it is a net5 application.
It goes through and packages the app as an msix file and I can install it after signing of course however the app fails to launch and I believe the reason is down to the warning I describe above. Am I missing any steps for packaging a net 5 application? I've taken the exact steps I have for a net framework application that have worked in the past.
So the app not loading was two fold. The app primarily didn't load as Entity Framework core 5 is referencing the wrong version of SQL Client. See https://github.com/dotnet/SqlClient/issues/652.
The second reason why the app wouldn't load was because the msix was trying to access a file I had open on another networked computer. See the section common problems https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/msix/packaging-tool/tool-known-issues.
Still no idea why the packaging project think it is net6 howwever.

Breakpoints stopped working - WPF app was Desktop-Bridged from Visual Studio

Last month I Desktop-Bridged my one simple WPF app using in latest version of VS2017 - ver 15.9 on Windows10 - Update 1809. The WPF app was also developed on the exact same environment. Last month, the breakpoints in debug mode were working.
But today the breakpoints are not working. According to this official link:
If you created your package by using the new packaging project available in the 15.4 release of Visual Studio 2017, Just set the packaging project as the startup project, and then press F5 to debug your app.
Please note:
This month, I upgraded VS2017 to VS2019 - Ver16.1.3. But that probably should not make any difference since my other old projects work fine in VS2019.
As shown below, I've verified that the Packaging Project in the solution is indeed the Startup project (as instructed in the link above).
The WPF app is a sample app using the code from here with user interface shown in image 2 below.
Snapshot of VS2019 solution:
UI of the app:
Snapshot of VS2019 top toolbar:
Maybe something during the update messed up your machine settings. Can you check Developer Mode is still active? The configurations you've done on your SLN are good, so breakpoints should be working as expected.

Upgrade GoogleTest to Visual Studio 2013 with command line

I've been attempting to automate the cloning and building of google test by using a batch script. However I can't seem to get visual studio to upgrade the solution.
I tried using the devenv "path" /upgrade command however it fails to upgrade the projects. The error I am getting for each of the projects is:
gtest_main-md.vcproj: The application which this project type is based on was not found. Please try this link for further information: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=299083&projecttype=8BC9CEB8-8B4A-11D0-8D11-00A0C91BC942
Which just defaults to the VS2015 C++ projects page. The solution also states that it does not need to be upgraded. If I open the solution in visual studio I can simply perform the one time upgrade on each project with no issue.
Is there a way to do this without having to open visual studio?

Codenameone designer doesnt launch from eclipse

IDE: Eclipse Luna
Desktop OS: Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise
Simulator : NA/default
Device: NA/default
Java: jdk1.8.0_40
Good afternoon everybody. I am a newbie and downloaded codenameone for the first time as a plugin in Eclipse IDE. The install went well, and I launched a new project, with Native theme and Hello World template. The project got created fine however, when I try to launch theme.res nothing happens. I dont see any errors or any signs of codenameone designer launching.
I searched through the forums and couldnt find anyone with similar problem.
What I have done to resolve (unsuccessfully):
Tried creating other projects with different themes and templates.
Tried uninstalling codenameone plugin and reinstalling it
Tried doing everything in a new workspace.
I have tried launching the designer jar from command line and that works:
java -Xmx256m -jar ~/.codenameone/designer_1.jar (This works)
I have double checked and eclipse is running the same version of JVM as commandline.
Nothing I do in eclipse has worked.
Could you please guide ?
Thanks
You need to switch the VM Eclipse is using to JDK 1.7 this also means the VM used to launch eclipse itself in the eclipse.ini file.

Building Silverlight 5 project without installing SDK

I'm a developer without access to the build server. I am attempting to configure my silverlight project to build on the build server, without installed the Silverlight 5.0 SDK. I can place all of the SDK files into a source folder, so I just need to redirect MSBuild to find them.
I've attempted to do this by editting the FrameworkRegistryBase tag in Microsoft.Silverlight.CSharp.targets file, but am still getting the same error message:
"The Silverlight 4 SDK is not installed".
Can you tell me where the path to the SDK can be overridden?
Thanks
