Why this does not set the background when is disabled? - wpf

I have a button and I want to change the background, it must be red when is anabled and green when is disabled. It's only an example to understand why it does not work, and the difference between when it works and when it does not work.
Option 1: when I use triggers in the button:
<Button Content="Buscar" Height="23" Name="btnComponentesBuscar" Width="75">
<Button.Style>
<Style TargetType="Button">
<Style.Triggers>
<Trigger Property="IsEnabled" Value="True">
<Setter Property="Background" Value="Red"/>
</Trigger>
<Trigger Property="IsEnabled" Value="false">
<Setter Property="Background" Value="Green"/>
</Trigger>
</Style.Triggers>
</Style>
</Button.Style>
</Button>
OPTION 2: modifying the template of the button. In the resources dictionary of my control in which I have my button, I put this:
<Style x:Key="MyButtonCustomTemplate" TargetType="{x:Type Button}">
<Setter Property="FocusVisualStyle" Value="{StaticResource FocusVisual}"/>
<Setter Property="Background" Value="{StaticResource Button.Static.Background}"/>
<Setter Property="BorderBrush" Value="{StaticResource Button.Static.Border}"/>
<Setter Property="Foreground" Value="{DynamicResource {x:Static SystemColors.ControlTextBrushKey}}"/>
<Setter Property="BorderThickness" Value="1"/>
<Setter Property="HorizontalContentAlignment" Value="Center"/>
<Setter Property="VerticalContentAlignment" Value="Center"/>
<Setter Property="Padding" Value="1"/>
<Setter Property="Template">
<Setter.Value>
<ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type Button}">
<Border x:Name="border" BorderBrush="{TemplateBinding BorderBrush}" BorderThickness="{TemplateBinding BorderThickness}" Background="{TemplateBinding Background}" SnapsToDevicePixels="true">
<ContentPresenter x:Name="contentPresenter" Focusable="False" HorizontalAlignment="{TemplateBinding HorizontalContentAlignment}" Margin="{TemplateBinding Padding}" RecognizesAccessKey="True" SnapsToDevicePixels="{TemplateBinding SnapsToDevicePixels}" VerticalAlignment="{TemplateBinding VerticalContentAlignment}"/>
</Border>
<ControlTemplate.Triggers>
<Trigger Property="IsDefaulted" Value="true">
<Setter Property="BorderBrush" TargetName="border" Value="{DynamicResource {x:Static SystemColors.HighlightBrushKey}}"/>
</Trigger>
<Trigger Property="IsMouseOver" Value="true">
<Setter Property="Background" TargetName="border" Value="{StaticResource Button.MouseOver.Background}"/>
<Setter Property="BorderBrush" TargetName="border" Value="{StaticResource Button.MouseOver.Border}"/>
</Trigger>
<Trigger Property="IsPressed" Value="true">
<Setter Property="Background" TargetName="border" Value="{StaticResource Button.Pressed.Background}"/>
<Setter Property="BorderBrush" TargetName="border" Value="{StaticResource Button.Pressed.Border}"/>
</Trigger>
<Trigger Property="IsEnabled" Value="false">
<Setter Property="Background" TargetName="border" Value="Green"/>
<Setter Property="BorderBrush" TargetName="border" Value="{StaticResource Button.Disabled.Border}"/>
<Setter Property="TextElement.Foreground" TargetName="contentPresenter" Value="{StaticResource Button.Disabled.Foreground}"/>
</Trigger>
<Trigger Property="IsEnabled" Value="true">
<Setter Property="Background" TargetName="border" Value="Red"/>
<Setter Property="BorderBrush" TargetName="border" Value="{StaticResource Button.Static.Border}"/>
</Trigger>
</ControlTemplate.Triggers>
</ControlTemplate>
In the second option it works as exepcted, but I would like to simplify the code and I see that the first option has less code, but I don't know why it does not work.
Thank so much.

Why PasswordBox is not getting a rounded corner style?

I wrote a style code for TextBox rounded corner and it worked. But When I tried the same code just changing the TargetType field to PasswordBox It didn't work for PasswordBox.
Thanks in advance.
This is my style code:
<Style x:Key="TextBoxTemplate" TargetType="TextBox">
<Setter Property="Background" Value="#525252"/>
<Setter Property="Foreground" Value="White"/>
<Setter Property="BorderThickness" Value="0,0,0,1"/>
<Style.Resources>
<Style TargetType="Border">
<Setter Property="CornerRadius" Value="10"/>
</Style>
</Style.Resources>
</Style>
<Style x:Key="PasswordBoxTemplate" TargetType="PasswordBox">
<Setter Property="Background" Value="#525252"/>
<Setter Property="Foreground" Value="White"/>
<Setter Property="BorderThickness" Value="0,0,0,1"/>
<Style.Resources>
<Style TargetType="Border">
<Setter Property="CornerRadius" Value="10"/>
</Style>
</Style.Resources>
</Style>
This is my XAML style binding code:
<PasswordBox Style="{DynamicResource PasswordBoxTemplate}" Name="txtPassword" FontSize="18"/>
The PasswordBox is special in that it resets the Border style. It is implemented this way. What you can do is you can copy the default style of the PasswordBox and adapt the corner radius directly.
<Style x:Key="PasswordBoxStyle" TargetType="{x:Type PasswordBox}">
<Setter Property="PasswordChar" Value="●"/>
<Setter Property="Background" Value="#525252"/>
<Setter Property="BorderBrush" Value="#FFABAdB3"/>
<Setter Property="Foreground" Value="White"/>
<Setter Property="BorderThickness" Value="0,0,0,1"/>
<Setter Property="KeyboardNavigation.TabNavigation" Value="None"/>
<Setter Property="HorizontalContentAlignment" Value="Left"/>
<Setter Property="FocusVisualStyle" Value="{x:Null}"/>
<Setter Property="AllowDrop" Value="true"/>
<Setter Property="ScrollViewer.PanningMode" Value="VerticalFirst"/>
<Setter Property="Stylus.IsFlicksEnabled" Value="False"/>
<Setter Property="Template">
<Setter.Value>
<ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type PasswordBox}">

WPF: Where are the built-in styles defined

I have a RepeatButton in a Toolbar. I want it to have the same visual appearance as the ToolBar-Buttons. But ToolBar.ButtonStyleKey doesn't work because of the different TargetType. So where are the built-in styles defined (for various Themes) and how can I clone the ToolBar.ButtonStyle for RepeatButton?
They are defined in the C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\WPF\PresentationFramework* assemblies. You could use a decompiler such as dotPeek to extract the templates, or you can right-click on a control in design mode in Visual Studio or in Blend and choose Edit Template->Edit a Copy to copy the default template into your XAML markup.
I tried this and I got the Template for ToolBar, but not the style for ToolBarButton. The search ends at ToolBarButtonStyleKey, but can't find ToolBarButtonStyle for WPF.
It's right there:
<Style x:Key="{x:Static ToolBar.ButtonStyleKey}" TargetType="{x:Type Button}">
<Setter Property="Control.Foreground" Value="{DynamicResource {x:Static SystemColors.ControlTextBrushKey}}"/>
<Setter Property="Control.Padding" Value="2"/>
<Setter Property="Control.BorderThickness" Value="1"/>
<Setter Property="Control.Background" Value="Transparent"/>
<Setter Property="Control.BorderBrush" Value="Transparent"/>
<Setter Property="FrameworkElement.HorizontalAlignment" Value="Center"/>
<Setter Property="FrameworkElement.VerticalAlignment" Value="Center"/>
<Setter Property="Control.HorizontalContentAlignment" Value="Center"/>
<Setter Property="Control.VerticalContentAlignment" Value="Center"/>
<Setter Property="Control.Template">
<Setter.Value>
<ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type Button}">
<Border Name="Bd" Background="{TemplateBinding Control.Background}"
BorderBrush="{TemplateBinding Control.BorderBrush}"
BorderThickness="{TemplateBinding Control.BorderThickness}"
Padding="{TemplateBinding Control.Padding}" SnapsToDevicePixels="true">
<ContentPresenter HorizontalAlignment="{TemplateBinding Control.HorizontalContentAlignment}"
VerticalAlignment="{TemplateBinding Control.VerticalContentAlignment}"
SnapsToDevicePixels="{TemplateBinding UIElement.SnapsToDevicePixels}"/>
</Border>
<ControlTemplate.Triggers>
<Trigger Property="UIElement.IsMouseOver" Value="true">

<Setter TargetName="Bd" Value="{StaticResource ƽ}" Property="Border.Background"/>
</Trigger>
<Trigger Property="UIElement.IsEnabled" Value="false">
<Setter Value="{DynamicResource {x:Static SystemColors.GrayTextBrushKey}}" Property="Control.Foreground"/>

wpf custom control using blend

I'm trying to build a custom ToggleIconButton with image = toggle button with image.
But some features as Command not really working.
I created the following custom class:
public class ToggleIconButton : ToggleButton
{
static ToggleIconButton()
{
DefaultStyleKeyProperty.OverrideMetadata(typeof(ToggleIconButton), new FrameworkPropertyMetadata(typeof(ToggleIconButton)));
}
public static readonly DependencyProperty IconProperty =
DependencyProperty.Register("Icon", typeof(string), typeof(ToggleIconButton), new PropertyMetadata(default(string)));
public string Icon
{
get { return (string)GetValue(IconProperty); }
set { SetValue(IconProperty, value); }
}
}
and using Blend, I created the following style:
ResourceDictionary1.xaml
<SolidColorBrush x:Key="ToolBarButtonHoverBorder" Color="#3399FF"/>
<SolidColorBrush x:Key="ToolBarButtonChecked" Color="#E6F0FA"/>
<SolidColorBrush x:Key="ToolBarButtonHover" Color="#C2E0FF"/>
<SolidColorBrush x:Key="ToolBarButtonPressedBorder" Color="#3399FF"/>
<SolidColorBrush x:Key="ToolBarButtonPressed" Color="#99CCFF"/>
<Style x:Key="ToggleButtonStyle" TargetType="{x:Type ToggleButton}">
<Setter Property="Foreground" Value="{DynamicResource {x:Static SystemColors.ControlTextBrushKey}}"/>
<Setter Property="Padding" Value="2"/>
<Setter Property="BorderThickness" Value="1"/>
<Setter Property="Background" Value="Transparent"/>
<Setter Property="BorderBrush" Value="Transparent"/>
<Setter Property="HorizontalAlignment" Value="Center"/>
<Setter Property="VerticalAlignment" Value="Center"/>
<Setter Property="HorizontalContentAlignment" Value="Center"/>
<Setter Property="VerticalContentAlignment" Value="Center"/>
<Setter Property="Template">
<Setter.Value>
<ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type ToggleButton}">
<Border BorderBrush="{TemplateBinding BorderBrush}" BorderThickness="{TemplateBinding BorderThickness}" Background="{TemplateBinding Background}" Padding="{TemplateBinding Padding}" SnapsToDevicePixels="true">
<Image Width="22" Height="22" HorizontalAlignment="Center" VerticalAlignment="Center" Source="{Binding Icon, Mode=TwoWay, RelativeSource={RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType={x:Type controls:ToggleIconButton}}}"/>
</Border>

<Trigger Property="IsEnabled" Value="false">
<Setter Property="Foreground" Value="{DynamicResource {x:Static SystemColors.GrayTextBrushKey}}"/>
</Trigger>
</ControlTemplate.Triggers>
</ControlTemplate>
</Setter.Value>
</Setter>
</Style>
<Style x:Key="ToggleIconButtonStyle" TargetType="{x:Type controls:ToggleIconButton}">
<Setter Property="Template">
<Setter.Value>
<ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type controls:ToggleIconButton}">
<Grid>
<ToggleButton Content="ToggleButton" Style="{DynamicResource ToggleButtonStyle}"/>
<ContentPresenter HorizontalAlignment="{TemplateBinding HorizontalContentAlignment}" RecognizesAccessKey="True" SnapsToDevicePixels="{TemplateBinding SnapsToDevicePixels}" VerticalAlignment="{TemplateBinding VerticalContentAlignment}" Content="Click!" Style="{DynamicResource ContentPresenterStyle}"/>
</Grid>
</ControlTemplate>
</Setter.Value>
</Setter>
</Style>
<Style x:Key="ContentPresenterStyle" TargetType="{x:Type ContentPresenter}"/>
and apply the custom control:
<ToolBar VerticalAlignment="Top">
<Controls:ToggleIconButton
Content="ToggleIconButton"
Height="24"
Style="{DynamicResource ToggleIconButtonStyle}"
VerticalAlignment="Center"
Width="24"
Icon="/Images/musicNote48.png"
Command="{Binding AddCommand}"
/>
The control shown good, with the icon, but Command is not invoked. If i click on the ContentPresenter content it is... my wish is to remove the ContentPresenter with the label "Click!" and use only the icon...

WPF thumb . Cannot get rid of focus style

Here is the style of a thumb that i created...(triangle) .
Although i got rid of mouseover style etc, i cant get rid of focus no matter what i do...
I created a polygon in order to create the triangle...
I use that thumb within a slider control
<Style x:Key="HorizontalSliderThumbStyle" TargetType="{x:Type Thumb}">
<Setter Property="Focusable" Value="false"/>
<Setter Property="OverridesDefaultStyle" Value="true"/>
<Setter Property="Height" Value="22"/>
<Setter Property="Width" Value="11"/>
<Setter Property="Foreground" Value="Gray"/>
<Setter Property="Template">
<Setter.Value>
<ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type Thumb}">
<Canvas SnapsToDevicePixels="true">
<Canvas.RenderTransform>
<TranslateTransform X="5.5" Y="11"/>
</Canvas.RenderTransform>
<Path x:Name="InnerBorder" Stroke="White"/>
<Path x:Name="OuterBorder" Stroke="#FF929292"/>
<Polygon FocusVisualStyle="{x:Null}" x:Name="Background" Points="0,0 1,0 0.5,1" Fill="#FFF18200" Width="15.3" Height="15" Stretch="Fill" Canvas.Left="-7.5" Canvas.Top="-8" RenderTransformOrigin="0.5,0.5" />
</Canvas>
<ControlTemplate.Triggers>
<Trigger Property="IsMouseOver" Value="true">
<!-- <Setter Property="Fill" TargetName="Background" Value="{StaticResource HorizontalSliderThumbHoverBackground}"/>
<Setter Property="Stroke" TargetName="OuterBorder" Value="{StaticResource HorizontalSliderThumbHoverBorder}"/>-->
</Trigger>
<Trigger Property="Foreground" Value="Blue">
<Setter Property="Fill" TargetName="Background" Value="{StaticResource HorizontalSliderThumbHoverBackground}"/>
<Setter Property="Stroke" TargetName="OuterBorder" Value="{StaticResource HorizontalSliderThumbHoverBorder}"/>
</Trigger>
<Trigger Property="IsDragging" Value="true">
<!-- <Setter Property="Fill" TargetName="Background" Value="{StaticResource HorizontalSliderThumbPressedBackground}"/>
<Setter Property="Stroke" TargetName="OuterBorder" Value="{StaticResource HorizontalSliderThumbPressedBorder}"/>-->
</Trigger>
<Trigger Property="IsEnabled" Value="false">
<Setter Property="Fill" TargetName="Background" Value="#FFF4F4F4"/>
<Setter Property="Stroke" TargetName="InnerBorder" Value="{x:Null}"/>
<Setter Property="Data" TargetName="OuterBorder" Value="{StaticResource SliderThumbDisabledGeometry}"/>
<Setter Property="Stroke" TargetName="OuterBorder" Value="#FFAEB1AF"/>
</Trigger>
</ControlTemplate.Triggers>
</ControlTemplate>
</Setter.Value>
</Setter>
</Style>
<Trigger Property="Foreground" Value="Blue">
<Setter Property="Fill" TargetName="Background" Value="{StaticResource HorizontalSliderThumbHoverBackground}"/>
<Setter Property="Stroke" TargetName="OuterBorder" Value="{StaticResource HorizontalSliderThumbHoverBorder}"/>
</Trigger>
Oh god this property did the problem.. I think that this is really strange.. Blue means nothing to me...Dont know why microsoft did this..
Set the FocusVisualStyle on your Thumb Style to null.

How to I stop Vista from pulsating my focused XAML buttons?

I've created a style for buttons in my WPF application.
However, on Vista, when a button is focused, it pulsates with a light blue that doesn't look good in the design.
How can I override this automatic pulsating?
<Style x:Key="NavigationButtonStyle" TargetType="Button">
<Setter Property="Width" Value="400"/>
<Setter Property="Height" Value="100"/>
<Setter Property="Cursor" Value="Hand"/>
<Setter Property="FontSize" Value="56"/>
<Setter Property="Foreground" Value="#aaa"/>
<Style.Triggers>
<Trigger Property="IsEnabled" Value="False">
<Setter Property="Foreground" Value="#ddd" />
</Trigger>
<Trigger Property="IsEnabled" Value="True">
<Setter Property="Foreground" Value="#aaa" />
</Trigger>
</Style.Triggers>
</Style>
Tried "IsFocused":
Adding this doesn't have any effect on Vista, the button still looks the same and is pulsating in Vista when focused:
<Trigger Property="IsFocused" Value="True">
<Setter Property="Background" Value="Red" />
<Setter Property="Foreground" Value="Blue" />
</Trigger>
Tried "ControlTemplate" solution:
Still no effect:
<Style x:Key="ButtonFocusVisual">
<Setter Property="Control.Template">
<Setter.Value>
<ControlTemplate>
<Rectangle SnapsToDevicePixels="true" Margin="2" Stroke="Black" StrokeDashArray="1 2" StrokeThickness="1"/>
</ControlTemplate>
</Setter.Value>
</Setter>
</Style>
<Style x:Key="NavigationButtonStyle" TargetType="Button">
<Setter Property="Width" Value="400"/>
<Setter Property="Height" Value="100"/>
<Setter Property="Cursor" Value="Hand"/>
<Setter Property="FontSize" Value="56"/>
<Setter Property="Foreground" Value="#aaa"/>
<Setter Property="FocusVisualStyle" Value="{StaticResource ButtonFocusVisual}"/>
<Style.Triggers>
<Trigger Property="IsEnabled" Value="False">
<Setter Property="Foreground" Value="#ddd" />
</Trigger>
<Trigger Property="IsEnabled" Value="True">
<Setter Property="Foreground" Value="#aaa" />
</Trigger>
</Style.Triggers>
</Style>
This effect is being set in response IsKeyboardFocused, not just standard focus.
In Blend if you edit the control template for a standard button, you'll see that on the IsKeyboardFocused=true trigger is responsible for this effect.
<Style x:Key="Button_NonGlow" TargetType="{x:Type Button}">
<Setter Property="FocusVisualStyle" Value="{StaticResource ButtonFocusVisual}"/>
<Setter Property="Background" Value="{StaticResource ButtonNormalBackground}"/>
<Setter Property="BorderBrush" Value="{StaticResource ButtonNormalBorder}"/>
<Setter Property="BorderThickness" Value="1"/>
<Setter Property="Foreground" Value="{DynamicResource {x:Static SystemColors.ControlTextBrushKey}}"/>
<Setter Property="HorizontalContentAlignment" Value="Center"/>
<Setter Property="VerticalContentAlignment" Value="Center"/>
<Setter Property="Padding" Value="1"/>
<Setter Property="Template">
<Setter.Value>
<ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type Button}">
<Microsoft_Windows_Themes:ButtonChrome SnapsToDevicePixels="true" x:Name="Chrome" Background="{TemplateBinding Background}" BorderBrush="{TemplateBinding BorderBrush}" RenderDefaulted="{TemplateBinding IsDefaulted}" RenderMouseOver="{TemplateBinding IsMouseOver}" RenderPressed="{TemplateBinding IsPressed}">
<ContentPresenter SnapsToDevicePixels="{TemplateBinding SnapsToDevicePixels}" HorizontalAlignment="{TemplateBinding HorizontalContentAlignment}" Margin="{TemplateBinding Padding}" VerticalAlignment="{TemplateBinding VerticalContentAlignment}" RecognizesAccessKey="True"/>
</Microsoft_Windows_Themes:ButtonChrome>
<ControlTemplate.Triggers>
<Trigger Property="IsKeyboardFocused" Value="true">
<Setter Property="RenderDefaulted" TargetName="Chrome" Value="true"/>
</Trigger>
<Trigger Property="ToggleButton.IsChecked" Value="true">
<Setter Property="RenderPressed" TargetName="Chrome" Value="true"/>
</Trigger>
<Trigger Property="IsEnabled" Value="false">
<Setter Property="Foreground" Value="#ADADAD"/>
</Trigger>
</ControlTemplate.Triggers>
</ControlTemplate>
</Setter.Value>
</Setter>
</Style>
What you are looking for is the IsFocused trigger property. Sorry that I do not have a working example for you right here.
UPDATE:
I found this small piece of code that I once used. I am not sure if is works and I can not test it (I am on an XP box):
<Style x:Key="ButtonFocusVisual">
<Setter Property="Control.Template">
<Setter.Value>
<ControlTemplate>
<Rectangle SnapsToDevicePixels="true" Margin="2" Stroke="Black" StrokeDashArray="1 2" StrokeThickness="1"/>
</ControlTemplate>
</Setter.Value>
</Setter>
</Style>
<Style TargetType="{x:Type Button}">
<Setter Property="FocusVisualStyle" Value="{StaticResource ButtonFocusVisual}"/>
</Style>
Depending on your specific requirements you can simply ensure the button never gets keyboard focus by setting IsTabStop="False" and IsDefault="False".
