CefSharp3 Can't navigate back - wpf

I am currently using CefSharp.MinimalExample.Wpf (CEF branch 1750 and CefSharp 33.0.0) to evaluate my issue. I just added a button to the MainView.xaml like this <Button Command="{Binding WebBrowser.BackCommand}">Back</Button>. The buttons enable state is updated on loading a site (once the site is loaded it is pressable). But clicking on it doesn't work to navigate back.
My second approach was to execute a java script snippet on click browser.ExecuteScriptAsync("history.back()"); But this doesn't work either.
Any ideas?

I have the same problem, but your answer gave me an idea, I hope my solution works for you.
The first page showed by the browser is like a blank page, so, when this blank page is loaded, I assign the URL, through FrameLoadEnd event of the browser.
I have a flag to avoid assign the URL more than one time.
Browser.FrameLoadEnd += delegate
{
if (!flag)
{
Browser.Address = "http://www.google.com.mx";
flag = true;
}
};
Looks like with this the problem is solved.

My investigation result is that if you set the URL too early - on creation of the browser object ChromiumWebBrowser until up to about 250ms (try&error value on my machine) - at least the back-function and JavaScript-injection won't work. The Initialized event is not a solution because it is too early. Apart from this the site will be rendered fine and you can browse the web. This was the part which distracted me and let me search elsewhere.

AngularJS not setting location state with "skipReload"

I am working on a site that is transitioning to Angular - it uses Angular for single page application navigation and a new feature I'm currently working on is written entirely in Angular.
The rest of the site takes navigation results and returns them through the SPA model, the feature I'm working on runs entirely in a single page, but in order to make links shareable and bookmarkable it changes the URL in relation to the current state of the page.
So when someone selects a new subsection of the new feature, we have some code like this in the subsection service:
function setLocationForSubsection(subsection) {
var path = subsection.id ? "subsections/" + subsection.id + "/" + subsection.urlSlug : "";
$location.path("/section/" + path).search({}).skipReload();
};
If they follow a link to elsewhere in the site ( which goes through a $stateProvider.state('all', { url: '*urlPath?id', controller... pattern ) it works correctly.
If they then hit the back button, they come back to the correct page and setLocationForSubsection is called. If they click on the same link outside of the subsection again, nothing happens.
So this course of action occurs:
/section/2/subsection-name <- works.
/news <- works
back button ( /section/2/subsection-name ) <- works
/news fails
As far as I can tell, the problem arises because the location path setting fails to push the location into the angular state in this situation, so as far as angular is concerned it is still on /news and so when I try to navigate back there, it doesn't pick it up as a navigation event. I have tried using $window.history.pushState(null, 'any', $location.absUrl()); manually, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. If I drop the skipReload call it works but reloads the contents of the page, which is superfluous in this case. I'm using that approach for now, but I would like to know if there is a better option.
Is there a way to tell angular that a state change has happened in this case?

Non-angular page opened with click - angular not defined using ignoreSynchronization or waiting for Angular without

After a lot of research, and tinkering, I can't seem to actually get my Protractor test to do anything else other than have an Angular related error, even though I am using browser to avoid Angular being detected at all.
The test involves an Angular app, opening a dropdown in it, and clicking on the link for the console; the console opens a non-Angular admin page in a separate window.
So based on the many informative SO posts I found, I first used this...
browser.driver.getAllWindowHandles().then(function(handles) {
browser.driver.switchTo().window(handles[1]).then(function() {
//expect for new window here
});
});
Which appeared to work, as I could get to the window through repl pretty easily.
The issue is when either of the following were added...
browser.driver.getAllWindowHandles().then(function(handles) {
browser.driver.switchTo().window(handles[1]).then(function() {
expect(browser.getLocationAbsUrl()).toContain('/console/login.jsp');
expect(browser.driver.findElement(By.css('th.login')).getText()).toEqual('Login');
});
});
One expect check the URL and the other checks for the header element on the page, which is a table header. When I run this, I get the following:
Error while waiting for Protractor to sync with the page: "angular could not be found on the window"
When I decide to use browser.ignoreSynchronization = true, both in the function, or in a beforeEach, with or without a following afterEach setting it to false, I get the following:
JavascriptError: angular is not defined
I can't seem to get any "useful" errors to help me debug it, and trying it in repl does not help, as I get the same issue.
To be comprehensive, trying my URL expect without getting the second window will give me the root, and the other will fail.
Just doing one or the other will cause the same problem.
Changing to regular syntax (element(by.css...)) does not change things.
So much for my first question...
It appears that my use of browser.getLocationAbsUrl() is meant to be used for an Angular page, and was causing my issue...
Essentially, even though I believed I was using pure Webdriver calls, that call still required Angular on the page to work...
As stated in another post, the use of browser.driver.getCurrentUrl() is a non-Angular call using Webdriver, and fixed the problem. Thus, the final code is the following...
browser.sleep(1000); //to wait for the page to load
browser.driver.getAllWindowHandles().then(function(handles) {
browser.driver.switchTo().window(handles[1]).then(function() {
expect(browser.driver.getCurrentUrl()).toContain('/console/login.jsp');
expect(browser.driver.findElement(By.css('th.login')).getText()).toEqual('Login');
});
});
This works without setting ignoreSynchronization, BTW.
I realized it would probably be something relatively simple to fix it, just didn't expect I'd get it that quickly (I intended on submitting the question last night, but posted it this morning instead).
In any case, I hope this will at least be a good reference for anyone else facing the same issue.
Seems like getLocationAbsUrl is angular abs url.
Try using the native driver getCurrentUrl instead.
-- expect(browser.getLocationAbsUrl()).toContain('/console/login.jsp');
++ expect(browser.driver.getCurrentUrl() ...

In backbone marionette is there a way to tell if a view is already shown in a region?

Given something like this:
View = Backbone.Marionette.ItemView.extend({ });
myView = new View();
//region already exists
myLayout.region.show(myView)
//some time later this gets called again:
myLayout.region.show(myView)
I can see currentView in the docs but this only seems to apply at initialisation. Once a view is shown can I query the region to see the view? Either the view instance or type would be helpful. Looking in Chrome's debugger I can't see any properties/methods on the region that would help.
The motive for wanting to do this is so I don't show a static item view in a region again if it is already displayed as this can (especially if images are involved) cause a slight flickering effect on the screen.
Thanks
--Justin Wyllie
you can add a condition before calling show method:
if (myLayout.region.currentView != myView)
myLayout.region.show(myView)
so if you'll try to call show with the same View it wont be shown.
if you want to call region.show(myView) once you can check in this way:
if (_.isUndefined(myLayout.region.currentView))
myLayout.region.show(myView)
You can check the isClosed and $el attributes of the view. Something like
if (myView.isClosed || _.isUndefined(myView.$el)) {
myLayout.region.show(myView);
}
This is the same way the region checks to see if the view is closed or not:
show: function(view) {
this.ensureEl();
var isViewClosed = view.isClosed || _.isUndefined(view.$el);
...
I'm going out on a limb here and assuming that the OP's question is based on app behavior when navigating to different parts of the app via an anchor tag in the navigation or something similar.
This is how I found the question and I thought briefly that the answers would save my day. Although both answers so far are correct they do not quite solve the problem I was having. I wanted to display a persistent navigation bar. However, I did not want it to display on the login page. I was hopeful that detecting if a Region was already shown or not I'd be able to properly let the display logic take care of this.
As it turns out we were both on the right track to implement Regions as this provides granular control, but even after implementing the above I found that my nav bar would still "flicker" and essentially completely reload itself.
The answer is actually a bit ridiculous. Somehow in all the Backbone tutorials and research I've been doing the last two weeks I never came across the need to implement a javascript interface to interrupt normal link behavior. Whenever a navigation item was clicked the entire app was reloading. The routing was functioning so the content was correct, but the flicker was maddening.
I added the following to my app.js file right after the Backbone.history.start({pushState: true}); code:
// Holy crap this is SOOO important!
$(document).on("click", "a[href^='/']", function(event) {
if (!event.altKey && !event.ctrlKey && !event.metaKey && !event.shiftKey) {
event.preventDefault();
var url = $(event.currentTarget).attr("href").replace(/^\//, "");
Backbone.history.navigate(url, { trigger: true });
}
});
Check out this article for some explanation about the keyPress detection stuff. http://dev.tenfarms.com/posts/proper-link-handling
Boom! After adding this stuff in my app no longer completely reloads!
Disclaimer: I am very new to Backbone and the fact that the above was such a revelation for me makes me think that I may be doing something wrong elsewhere and this behavior should already exist in Backbone. If I've made a giant error here please comment and help me correct it.

Backbone.js: Disallow backbone history

I came on this site to research a problem that I've been having regarding negating Backbone.js's history for certain elements. Thankfully, I came across this answer: here.
While it had provided a solution for me, the ultimate result was partial.
PROBLEM:
I am using Backbone.js for my navigation. I navigate to a route called "Portfolio" and then a number of images show up which can then be clicked again to view information. In order to render this information, I have it going through another route. The aforementioned resolution had me assigning the following code to negate these Portfolio links from being part of the History:
$(this).bind('click', function(e){
theSiteController.navigate('portfolio/portfolioSelection/' + i, {trigger:true, replace: true });
});
I had applied replace: false to the .navigate and it worked: whenever I hit the Back button, I would skip back to the origin page that I came from. HOWEVER, when I hit the Forward button in my browser, it points me back to the Portfolio link that I had clicked before, which looks like this:
#portfolio/portfolioSelection/4
I have it set to a different View, so I'm wondering if that has something to do with it.
QUESTION:
When I click the Forward button in my browser, how would I re-route it so that way it goes to
#portfolio
instead of
#portfolio/portfolioSelection/4
To view the site, please click here.
I apologize if this has been answered, but I can't seem to find a proper resolution.
Thank you, in advance, for your help!

Backbone Navigates to Base URL Immediately After Page Load

I've been facing this issue with Backbone routing and figured I'd spent enough time investigating:
There are two urls at play here: / and /post/:id. The / page has links to various posts via /post/:id. When I click the post link, the post page loads, but backbone immediately changes the url to /. Not only does this look bad, it also triggers route handlers at the wrong time. I'm not doing anything special... here's my code:
PostRouter = Backbone.Router.extend({
routes : {
"" : "doHome"
},
initialize : function() {
},
doHome : function() {
// do some stuff before navigating
window.location = "/";
}
})
...
var router = new PostRouter();
Backbone.history.start({ pushState: Modernizr.history });
Again, the doHome function is called immediately after the post page loads. Clearly this causes the site to navigate back to the home page. I can obviously remove that call to window.location to prevent that, but the url still gets updated to the root url, which isn't acceptable.
Thanks in advance!
UPDATE 1:
If I go directly to "localhost:808/post/:id" the url immediately changes to "localhost:8080/". However, if I do this exact same thing in private browser window, this behavior is not observed.
UPDATE 2:
Given what I found in update 1, I went crazy and started from scratch: I cleared 4 weeks of browsing history (sigh), stopped my local server and cleaned up all persistent sessions and redeployed my app. Alas, it worked! That said, I am not listing this as a solution as it doesn't help explain what exactly is going on and how to solve it. Additionally, it leaves me concerned about this happening to users of my site. I'd have no way to tell that this was happening and, even if I did, I couldn't tell them how to fix it on their end (clearing 4 weeks of browser history is not an option!). Can anyone shed some light on what might have been going on?
why don't you try to add
console.log(Backbone.history.handlers);
at the end to see, how your rout is added to Backbone.history. This might shed some light.
