Angularjs Directive scope - angularjs

I'm trying to create a directive and am running into some problems with the scope object. In creating a plunkr to display what is happening I noticed that I'm close, but not quite sure what I'm misunderstanding.
If i have a directive that looks like this:

And utilize the directive in the view like this:

the div seems to be updated correctly and there is a message logged to the console as I would expect.
If I create the directive like this though:

.directive('example',

scope: {

scope.exampleInput = 1;
scope.$watch(
'exampleInput',
function(newTestInput){
console.log(newTestInput);

and use it in a view like this:
<example>
<input data-ng-model="exampleInput" />
<div>
{{exampleInput}}
</div>
</example>
then the div seems to get updated, but there is no message logged to the console. It seems as though the $watch isn't working. Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?

The problem with the example is that you're putting your HTML inside your directive tags. They should be in your template.
This code works

Angularjs Custom Directive ng-click not working

i've created a custom directive in angularjs:
directives.directive('myTop',function($compile) {
return {
restrict: 'E',
templateUrl: 'views/header.html',
}
})
Directive's code:

for some reason, ng-click doesen't trigger.
I searched over the internet and found that compile / link is the solution for this problem,
but I can't seem to reach a working solution.
I am not using jquery..
You'll need to add a link function to the directive definition for this to work. So basically,

Either use link as answered by #Ashesh or just simply add scope. If you set scope false you will not have isolated scope and click will work on directive.

AngularJS directives data binding doesn't work

Here is a simplified version of the two directives I have, my-input and another-directive:
HTML:

As you can see in the demo, if I remove element.empty().append(output);, everything works fine, i.e. changes in the input field are reflected in controller's data. But, adding this line, breaks the binding.
Why is this happening?

The element.empty() call is destroying all child nodes of element. In this case, element is the html representation of another-directive. When you are calling .empty() on it, it is trying to destroy its child directive my-input and any scopes/data-bindings that go with it.
A somewhat unrelated note about your example. You should look into using transclusion to nest html within a directive, like you are doing with another-directive. You can find more info here: https://docs.angularjs.org/api/ng/service/$compile#transclusion
I think a little bit context as to what you are trying to do well be helpful. I am assuming you want to wrap the my-input directive in another-directive ( some sort of parent pane ). You could accomplish this using ng transclude. i.e

ng-bind span not updated on changing the object's property

In the following code, i change the object's property on clicking the 'tab' element, but the corresponding ngbind span is not getting updated. Do i have to call some function to update the view?

That works for me. Just missing a little scope.$apply in there.
Might want to have a look at https://coderwall.com/p/ngisma if you find yourself using/having trouble with '$apply already in progress'.
If you want to change the value to what you clicked on, I'd do something like this:
scope.$parent.selector.val = attrs.tab;
As opposed to:
scope.$parent.selector.val = "newthing";
And then you can change your markup to look like this:

<div tab="junk">junk</div>
<div tab="super">super</div>
</tabpanel>

First problem: you are not binding your controller to your app.
You need cf.controller('Application', Application);.
Also you need ng-controller="Application" in HTML on a parent of that span and the tabpanel directive.
Second problem: after changing that scope variable in your click event you need to
scope.$apply() to let Angular know something changed and it needs to $digest it.

Load angular directive in view, based on $scope value

I have a directive defined as
Application.Directives.directive('listview', function() {
return {
restrict: 'EAC',
templateUrl: 'directives/listview/view.html'
};
});
And then want to include it from the main view like this
<div class="{{directiveName}}">
</div>
where directiveName equals "listview". However, it does not work. It generates the below code, but the listview directive does not get loaded
<div class="listview">
</div>
Yet, when I type the above generated code directly into the main template, it does load the directive. How come? How can I make it work?
So I found a way. What you'd want is something like this
<div {{directiveNameInScope}}></div>
But again, that doesn't work. So I created a directive to do it for you. It works like
<div loaddirective="directiveNameInScope"></div>
where the loaddirective directive looks like

AngularJS - pass function to directive

I have a example angularJS

To call a controller function in parent scope from inside an isolate scope directive, use dash-separated attribute names in the HTML like the OP said.
Also if you want to send a parameter to your function, call the function by passing an object:

Perhaps I am missing something, but although the other solutions do call the parent scope function there is no ability to pass arguments from directive code, this is because the update-fn is calling updateFn() with fixed parameters, in for example {msg: "Hello World"}. A slight change allows the directive to pass arguments, which I would think is far more useful.

Note the HTML is passing a function reference, i.e., without () brackets.

So in the above, the HTML is calling local scope callUpdate function, which then 'fetches' the updateFn from the parent scope and calls the returned function with parameters that the directive can generate.

In your 'test' directive Html tag, the attribute name of the function should not be camelCased, but dash-based.
so - instead of :
<test color1="color1" updateFn="updateFn()"></test>
write:
<test color1="color1" update-fn="updateFn()"></test>
This is angular's way to tell the difference between directive attributes (such as update-fn function) and functions.
How about passing the controller function with bidirectional binding? Then you can use it in the directive exactly the same way as in a regular template (I stripped irrelevant parts for simplicity):

I landed at this question, because I tried the method above befire, but somehow it didn't work. Now it works perfectly.
use dash and lower case for attribute name ( like other answers said ) :
<test color1="color1" update-fn="updateFn()"></test>
And use "=" instead of "&" in directive scope:
scope: { updateFn: '='}
Then you can use updateFn like any other function:
<button ng-click='updateFn()'>Click</button>
There you go!
I had to use the "=" binding instead of "&" because that was not working.

#JorgeGRC Thanks for your answer. One thing though, the "maybe" part is very important. If you do have parameter(s), you must include it/them on your template as well and be sure to specify your locals e.g. updateFn({msg: "Directive Args"}.
