ive been looking for several hours but i cnat seem to get the Report Server Project in installed templates in visual studio. Im trying to follow some tutorials on pluralsight.
Which version of SQL? The Report Server Project Templete can be installed from SQL Server installation disk (2005,2008, 2008r2) or by downloading SQL Server Date Tools (2012, 2014)
Data Tools for 2012: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36843
Data Tools for 2014: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/data/hh297027

I want to use ssis to transfer database. I installed sql server 2017 developer version. After installation, I could not found SQL Server Data Tools under the SQL Server 2017. Then I installed the SSDT for my visual studio 2017. I could not found the Integration Services Project in the File -> New -> Project.
Maybe when I installed the VS, I didn't pick Business Intelligence as the default setting.
So how can I create a SSIS and make a ETL package? I don't mind do it through VS or SQL server.
Open SQL Server Data Tools > New > Project. Then in New Project box, choose Business Intelligence from the Templates. There you can see the Integration Services Project. Select it and create the project.
I am running into a problem as outlined in this artice: Execution error while validating script component. I am using Visual Studio 2015 to create SSIS packages and also upgrade old 2008 packages to be supported on SQL Server 2016. First, Visual Studio was able to upgrade the packages and I can run them successfully from within VS2015, but not as a job on SQL Server 2016 using SSMS 2017.
The article says to use the same version of SSMS as your SQL Server and your Integration Services package version. Is this indeed the case even with SQL Server 2016, Integration Services deployment set to 2016, and SSMS 2017?
I get the error that says the script task is corrupted. I have tried it using deployment versions 2016 AND 2017. Here is the error for deployment version 2017 (similar errors in 2016):
Note that I even went so far as to completely rewrite new script tasks using the same code as the old ones. I did have to add a reference to some .NET stuff for Directory Services though. But it compiled after I made that change.
Any help is appreciated!
Well I wasn't able to get SSMS 2016 on the server due to delay in change request but I did do a deployment from within Visual Studio to the destination server and all is well. I found that here: Deploying SSIS Package to SQL Server 2016
I didn't install anything on my destination server though. I just deployed from directly within Visual Studio on its server. Some of my scripts had to be rewritten but it wasn't much of a headache.
Running Visual Studio 2017 with latest patches and SQL Server Data Tools installed. Created a new Integration Services project, target server version is SQL Server 2012. Added an existing SSIS package from a SQL Server 2012, made a small edit a task, and saved. When I try to deploy via package model, I get this error:
Storing or modifying packages in SQL Server requires the SSIS runtime and database to be the same version. Storing packages in earlier versions is not supported.
Since both the project and target server are both SQL Server 2012, I'm stumped on where the version discrepancy lies.
Previously I was able to download, edit, and re-save the package in VS 2010, so it seems to be something particular to Visual Studio 2017. Any ideas?
Edit: I also tried creating a new package in the project with nothing in it and it has the same error, so it's definitely something with VS 2017 and not code related.
In the property pages for an Integration Services project, on the General tab of Configuration Properties, select the TargetServerVersion property and choose SQL SQL Server 2012 and deploy it.
I am trying to create Integration services project in VS 2015. i Installed the SQL Server Data Tools for VS 2015. i also installed SQL Server 2016.
I still dont see the templates.
can anyone please help.
The current release of SQL Server Data tools for VS 2015 doesn't include the BI templates that you need for integration services etc, what you need to install is Microsoft's pre-release SSDT RC0 version, which now finally includes the SQL server database projects and the BI templates, finally it will all be in one place:
Download SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT)
Make sure you download the release from the link "Download the Latest SSDT Preview for Visual Studio 2015"
Goal:
Install Developer SQL Server 2012+ Business intelligence and its SSIS, SSRS and SSAS in my computer.
Problem:
Can't find the settings or something similar in the install selection to install SSIS, SSRS and SSAS in my computer.
Before doing the installation, a screen was displayed with selection of feature. Look at the picture.
It is in the Developer Ed of VS 2012. You just have to look for it now because they separated it out into a different place. Look for SQL Server Data Tools 2012 in your start menus and launch it; however, if it does not come up, then navigate to find your VS 2010 and start it up and load up your Integration Services project in there. This is what I had to do.
What you are looking for is Sql Server Data Tools. Bear in mind that there are 2 versions of the Data Tools - someone called them data tools - db and data tools - BI for lack of a better term.
Data Tools - BI are the compact version of Visual Studio 2010 with all the required project types for ssrs ssis and ssas.
Data Tools - db that you can get here provide connectivity to sql server via the Data Tools - (BIDS in sql server 2008).
The selection is disabled as Aaron said due to the fact that Intergration Services (SSIS), Analysis Services(SSAS) and reporting Services (SSRS) are already installed.
You want 2012, since others provided that information here is instead for you and OTHERS to get 2014 Data Tools and 2008 BIDS :
SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT) for SQL Server 2014
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/jj650015
OLD 2008 for some of you still wanting it / using sql server 2008....
For getting BIDS With SQL Server 2008 Developer Edition, you simply want to search for
"SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio"
This will open the Visual Studio 2008 Shell of which you then click on Create - Project
Now you have all your options. This is right next to Microsoft SQL Server (SSMS)
