Attribute directive to work on an element inside another directive - angularjs

I have hit a wall with what I need from angular, hopefully there's an easy way to achieve what I'm after.
I have a directive that looks something like that:

I have another directive which must go on top of text input elements only:

So... I can do that with no problem:
<input type="text" masked-string />
However, what I really need is:
<string masked-string />
This should end up setting the masked-string attribute on the input field before the template is compiled.
What is the best way to achieve that? 10x

AngularJS directives data binding doesn't work

Here is a simplified version of the two directives I have, my-input and another-directive:

As you can see in the demo, if I remove element.empty().append(output);, everything works fine, i.e. changes in the input field are reflected in controller's data. But, adding this line, breaks the binding.
Why is this happening?

The element.empty() call is destroying all child nodes of element. In this case, element is the html representation of another-directive. When you are calling .empty() on it, it is trying to destroy its child directive my-input and any scopes/data-bindings that go with it.
A somewhat unrelated note about your example. You should look into using transclusion to nest html within a directive, like you are doing with another-directive. You can find more info here: https://docs.angularjs.org/api/ng/service/$compile#transclusion
I think a little bit context as to what you are trying to do well be helpful. I am assuming you want to wrap the my-input directive in another-directive ( some sort of parent pane ). You could accomplish this using ng transclude. i.e

How to update value of ng-model with the expression in html part

Why value of the ng-model is not updated with the expression. Before ng-model is defined value get updated
Value will be updated as soon as phase2 or phase3 changes
<input type="text" name="phase1" value="{{phase2 - phase3}}" ></input>
Value will not be updated
<input type="text" name="phase1" value="{{phase2 - phase3}}" ng-model="phase1"></input>
So I think of writing a directive which will evaluate the expression inside the directive and updated the output to model,
Here is html it will look like
<input type="text" name="phase1" ng-model="phase1" my-value="{{phase2 - phase3}}" my-model-value></input>

In order to continously watch the phase2/3 changes you can make use of $scope.$watch function.
Something like this will work for you:

and in the scope pass phase1 and phase2 values as well
This will watch the value expression and update the same when value will change

AngularJS model not updating while typing

In the following AngularJS code, when you type stuff into the input field, I was expecting the div below the input to update with what is typed in, but it doesn't. Any reason why?:

The basic issue with this code is you aren't sharing "ngModel" with the directive (which creates a new scope). That said, this could be easier to read by using the attributes and link function. Making these changes I ended up with:

Using this pattern you can include any dynamic html or angular code you want in your directive and it will be compiled with the $compile service. That means you don't need to use the scope property - variables are inherited "automatically"!

the issue is that require option means that ngSparkline directive expects ngModel directive controller as its link function 4th parameter. your directive can be modified like this:

AngularJS How to access elements inside directive before they get replaced

How do I get the input element from within the directive before the template overwrites the contents?

i am on angular 1.0.x, I cannot pass in optional scope parameters with the '=?' syntax and i want to be able to override a portion of the default template of the directive in a very flexible way. instead of adding a scope variable or attribute everytime that I just plan on passing through the directive, I want to be able to supply the whole element to be used.

I am trying to include a partial template inside a directive that will overwrite a piece of the actual template. The piece I am including therefore needs to have access to the directive's scope and not the parent's.
Update
It seems if I do not provide a template or a template URL and instead replace the contents manually using the $templateCache I can have access to the inner elements. I want to let angular handle the template and the replacement though and just want to be able to access the contents in the directive naturally before they get replaced.

In the dirTwo and dirThree, I have an input <input type="text" ng-model="query" datum="sugestions" dir-three> with ngModel, this input needs to access and modify the content of ngModel, so that the scope is not isolated.
